When Dora first arrived at ISA Wuhan, everything felt completely different from her previous school life. Gone were the days of narrowly focused professional training—instead, she entered an all-English academic system that combined subject learning, diverse extracurricular activities, and a global university pathway. For her, this shift was both a challenge and a kind of liberation.

She began exploring fields that were rarely accessible in a traditional arts school. Dora stepped into classrooms to study literature and social sciences, and joined student clubs to plan events. She trained with sports teams on the field and took initiative behind the scenes of performances.

Gradually, she realized that her artistic background didn’t just shape how she performed, but also how she perceived life, understood others, and recognized rhythm in the world around her.

“I began to understand that learning isn’t just about grades,” she says, “it’s about building my own way of seeing the world.”

At ISA Wuhan, Dora was not only a performer but also an active contributor and builder within the school community.

As the founding Head of the Student Council’s Arts Division, she helped design and organize multiple campus-wide events from the ground up. She cared about details, valued originality, and was skilled at transforming the sensitivity and rhythm she developed through performing arts into practical action. Beyond the spotlight, she devoted the same passion and focus to every stage of event planning and execution.

She was also a core player on the girls’ volleyball team and the manager of the basketball team. Through practices and competitions, she learned how to collaborate, manage her time, and respond quickly to challenges. She even designed the teams’ uniforms herself, kept match records, and proposed ways to improve training routines.

“Sports and performing arts are actually very similar,” she reflected. “Both require teamwork, quick decision-making, and a strong sense of rhythm.”

It was this proactive spirit that allowed Dora to leave her mark not only on stage but across every corner of campus life at ISA Wuhan.

If the stage has always been Dora’s way of expressing her inner world, then her two years at ISA Wuhan were about building a deeper connection with the real one.

In her academic journey, she didn’t settle for her strong foundation in the arts. Instead, she worked diligently to strengthen her academic expression in the humanities and social sciences—sharpening her writing, speaking, and reading skills to better understand and communicate with the world around her.

Within the school community, she took on diverse roles across a range of projects, seamlessly shifting between positions—onstage and backstage, as a team member and as an organizer.

“ISA Wuhan made me realize that true art isn’t just about performance,” she said. “It’s about having the ability to express continuously—and I want to be someone who can turn feelings into action.”

In the end, Dora received admission offers from several internationally renowned arts institutions, including The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (ranked 20th globally in performing arts by QS), the California Institute of the Arts, and the University of Roehampton in the UK. She chose to continue her journey in performing arts—not simply to return to the spotlight, but to pursue a fuller, more expansive form of expression.
