July 9-11, the 3rd ChinaICAC National Conference took place in the city of Hefei with this year’s theme ‘Combining Strengths to Expand Boundaries. Admission from nearly 60 universities of 11 countries and guidance counsellors from more than 80 international schools in 27 different cities of China attended the event. Ms. Sonja Song, Director of the BIBS Guidance Counselling Office had been invited to the group discussion on how to establish an efficient guidance counselling system.

The BIBS Guidance Counselling Office has been committed to improving its professional competences. Director Sonja Song is not only a member of the ChinaICAC and IACAC, but also a College Board approved SAT testing center coordinator and functionary. Ms. Song also holds an IB Category 3 (highest) Guidance Counsellor’s license.

Ms. Song has made outstanding contributions in her professional field and provided remarkable resources and support for her students’ university application planning.

校内升学指导（school counselor）是学校和大学之间的一座桥梁，正规的国际学校和海外高中都会设立升学指导办公室，他们是学校官方指定的负责与大学沟通的专职代表人员。

因此一般来讲，专业的升学指导应该都是国内外升学指导行业联盟的成员，如上面提到中国升学指导协会，国际升学指导协会等。这不仅意味着升学指导必须遵守良好的职业行为规范，同时也意味着，在申请过程中，校内升学指导所提供的的高中支持性文件在大学更具可信度。

School counselor is a bridge connecting high schools with universities. All professional international schools and foreign senior high schools establish guidance counselling offices for communications with universities.

Generally speaking, a professional guidance counsellor is a member of domestic and international guidance counselling associations, such as above mentioned ChinaICAC and IACAC etc. This requires professionalism and integrity, so the supporting documents a guidance counsellor prepares are to be trusted.

The BIBS Guidance Counselling Office strives to create more opportunities for our students to directly communicate with universities admission officers. Last September, BIBS held the Global University Expo in its Shunyi campus, following by more than 20 universities admission officer visits later. 

At this year’s conference, Ms. Song communicated with admission from nearly 60 universities of 11 countries. This enables the BIBS Guidance Counselling Office to continue to acquire the most direct, comprehensive and accurate information for our students to find the most suitable universities and majors.
