The Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on the 5th of May of the lunar calendar, is one of China's most ancient traditional festivals.

It has been a traditional custom for more than 2,000 years. Due to China being rather vast, with various ethnic groups and diverse stories and legends, the Dragon Boat Festival has given birth to many other customs. 

In different places, there could be hanging statues of Zhong Kui, eating salty eggs and rice dumplings, or organizing a dragon boat race.

Now, the Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated throughout China as well as in neighboring countries.

端午节，又称端阳节、龙舟节、重午节、龙节、正阳节、天中节等，节期在农历五月初五，是中华民族古老的传统节日之一。

过端午节，是中国人两千多年的传统习俗，而且各地也有着不尽相同的习俗，比如挂钟馗像，赛龙舟，贴午叶符，悬挂菖蒲、艾草，吃五毒饼、咸蛋、粽子和时令鲜果等。

如今，端午节的活动已经得到新的发展，突破了时间、地域界线，至今流传中国各地及邻近诸国。

Eating rice dumplings is a traditional custom during the Dragon Boat Festival, dating back to the Spring and Autumn Period.

Today, the students folded the leaves around the sticky rice that was filled inside and wrapped them up. Voilà! A beautiful rice dumpling ready to be eaten by the hungry students!

By making and eating rice dumplings, the students could experience the atmosphere of the Festival and understand more aspects of the custom.

吃粽子是端午节的传统习俗，可追溯到春秋时期。

小朋友们一起折粽叶、填糯米、裹粽叶，虽手法稚嫩，但慢慢地一只只各式各样的粽子在他们的手中成型，有圆的、长的、扁的、四锥的……

小朋友们围绕在粽叶香里，沉浸在糯米甜中，在绳索缠绕间感受端午佳节的氛围。

The festival’s elements, such as rice dumplings, Dragon Boat, and Ay Tsao, also appeared in the art class!

Creating expressive handicrafts is one of the best ways for students to get fully immersed in Chinese culture.

During physical activity classes, the students could also feel the festive atmosphere of the Dragon Boat Festival. 

The students followed a track shaped like a river and had an intense dragon boat race at School.
