The Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on the fifteenth day of the eighth month of the lunar calendar, is one of the traditional festivals in China.

Since ancient times, people have had different customs and habits for the Mid-Autumn Festival, such as enjoying the moon, eating moon cakes, playing with lanterns, and appreciating sweet Osmanthus.

Teachers integrated this traditional Chinese festival into the IB curriculum at BKIK and they also experienced the joy of the Mid-Autumn Festival with their children.

中秋节，农历八月十五，是我国的传统节日之一，与春节、清明节、端午节并称为中国四大传统节日。

自古以来，人们对于中秋节有不同的风俗习惯，如祭月赏月、吃月饼、看花灯、赏桂花等。

而在汇悦天启幼儿园，老师们将中华民族传统节日融入到IB的课堂教学当中，与小朋友们一起体验中秋节带来的节日快乐。

Thursday was a spectacular day! This Thursday marked the first day of celebration for the Mid-Autumn Festival at BKIK! Students were given fun lantern riddles, various traditions for celebrating the Mid-Autumn festival, as well as creating their own mooncakes!

Building on this, we continued the inquiry process into Friday. In our Unit of Inquiry, we utilized mind-mapping as a method to help students affirm their understanding. Creating links between key words in our discussions and to broaden the depths of their understanding of this festival! 

Students were quite knowledgeable, as they understood that during the Mid-Autumn festival, families can gather together to enjoy beautiful mooncakes, playing with lanterns and even the beauty that is a full moon. 

As a glimpse into different forms of Friendships, we opened both units of thought to show that people living together can form different bonds, familial and those of friendship. We are thrilled to be given this opportunity to link the key concepts from both units together in this fashion! In our discussions, many students were also aware that this year the Mid-Autumn festival just so happens to coincide with Teachers’ Day!

As students proposed their own queries in class, we were ecstatic to see their various forms of engagement!

星期四是一个特别的日子，汇悦天启幼儿园的师生一起开展了庆祝中秋节的活动，并延续到星期五。

小朋友们亲手制作有趣的灯笼，了解中秋节的传统文化，也亲手制作了月饼。在我们的单元探究活动中，我们利用思维导图的方式帮助小朋友了解中秋节，并运用关键词来帮忙他们加深理解。

通过学习，小朋友们知道中秋节是一个家人团圆的节日，在这个传统节日，也可以玩灯笼和观赏月亮。

在通过学习友谊的课题，小朋友们从中认识到家庭纽带和友谊纽带。通过学习，我们很高兴小朋友们可以将关键的概念联系起来。

另外，通过课堂讨论，小朋友们还发现今年的中秋节与教师节是同一天，他们对此提出了自己的好奇与疑问。我们也很高兴看到小朋友们积极认真地投入到课堂的学习当中！

Playing lantern riddles has been a traditional entertainment program for the Mid-Autumn Festival since ancient times.

This time, we were also honored to invite parent volunteers to come and guess lantern riddles with the children.

猜灯谜自古以来是中秋节的传统娱乐节目，这次我们也很荣幸邀请到家长义工前来，与小朋友们一同猜灯谜。

After guessing the lantern riddles, we invited the chef to come and give a demonstration of making moon cakes for parents and children.

A mooncake dough is kneaded in the hands of a child, molded into the traditional shape, and finally put into a package, so they can share the joy with their family when they go home.

猜灯谜过后，我们请厨师哥哥为家长和小朋友们做了制作月饼的示范。

一个个月饼面团在小朋友手中揉搓、加模具成型、最后放入包装袋，回家就可以与家人们分享喜悦。

This year's Mid-Autumn Festival just happened to coincide with Teacher's Day, and it thus has more significance.

On September 9th, we also celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with the teachers and sent the teachers' Day greetings to the hard-working staff.
