LEH International School Foshan aims to provide a home from home, high-quality boarding experience within a safe, secure, caring, happy and comfortable environment in a positive, trusting and encouraging atmosphere. Day or full-time boarding options exist for students from Year 4 - 13 (8 - 18 years old).
Living within a community, students learn that learning within the boarding environment is just as valuable as what they are learning in the classroom. Boarding allows students to take responsibility for their actions, experience personal growth, become more mature, compassionate, and cooperative as team players, and nurtures the development of good character and self-confidence.
Boarding also builds important life skills students are taking away from living independently, such as resilience, perseverance and independence. They are making their beds, sorting their laundry, tidying their areas, managing their own time, learning how to prepare for the world outside of school etc. Great things start small and it is these tiny steps that lead them to become well-rounded global citizens.
Mr Steve Banks, besides his roles as Head of Geography, is also the Head of Boarding at LEH Foshan. He was once the Pastoral and Safeguarding Leader and Assistant Headteacher for 13 years in a UK boarding school and his previous senior leadership roles have provided him with whole school responsibilities including pastoral provision.
Welcome from the Head of Boarding
The priority in boarding is to provide the best pastoral care for all children, ensuring students thrive academically, socially, morally and culturally. Life in boarding provides fantastic opportunities where students can develop self-confidence, courage, independence, and optimism to achieve their personal goals.
Mr David Richards works with our boarding staff to safeguard and develop a supportive boarding environment and enrich students’ boarding experience. He has been trained on the topics of ‘Preventing Bullying for International Schools’ in 2018 and ‘Child Safeguarding for International Schools’ (in 2017 & 2021) by EduCare.
Mrs Carolyn Jones is currently completing her Leadership in Boarding certificate with the Boarding School Association. She has worked in other international boarding schools for many years, and now at LEH Foshan she is helping students on their journey to independence.
Ms Betty Liang joined the boarding team from a pastoral background and supports the House Parents in the pastoral care of the boarders, ensure the smooth running of the house, including laundry, housekeeping, overseeing the personal appearances of boarders, and liaising with boarding staff about specific issues.
On Floor 6 of the boarding house, the medical centre has two resident nurses who provide round-the-clock assessment and care for minor injuries and illnesses.
Teacher-Supervised
Evening School
Boarding students benefit from the evening school supervised by our teachers and enjoy 2 hours’ dedicated study time after dinner. Our teachers on duty are in the study area and ready to offer help and guidance for students’ homework and study.
Evening and Weekend Activities
In addition to the wide range of Extra-Curricular Activities, boarders also benefit from evening and weekend activities. These include movie nights, games evenings, field trips, walks, specialist activities and many more. There are also structured activities scheduled for weekends, including trips to the cinema, walks, educational workshops and themed evenings.
When students join LEH Foshan, they will share an en-suite room with students of the same age. The modern design of the rooms will ensure they have privacy, space to work individually or collaboratively while providing the support and facilities to ensure the students need only focus upon their learning.
Quadruple rooms are offered to younger students (Key Stages 2 and 3, Ages 8 -13) and double rooms to senior students (Key Stages 4 and 5, Aged 14-18); both room types are equipped with storage space, study area, night light, and an en-suite bathroom.
Common Rooms in each House will ensure students have space to relax and socialise in their free time and will help integrate students and develop House spirit. While 3 meals a day will be provided in the Dining Hall, kitchenettes will allow students to make hot drinks and snacks at other times.
If you are still not sure about boarding, why not read our Boarder’s Blog and learn why our students love boarding at LEH Foshan.
The thing that has impressed me the most is probably the boarding house itself. I like how the rooms are comfortable; it's just like home, but way more modern.
Have you ever wanted to spend more time with your friends? Have you ever wanted to have more freedom? Have you ever wanted to be more independent? Then living in the boarding school is the best choice for you!
Attending a boarding school means venturing into something unfamiliar, a new adventure. Boarders are not alone on this journey; other boarders will be experiencing similar thoughts and feelings which brings boarders together, forging friendships for a lifetime. Welcome to board at LEH Foshan!
