Last week, our high school boys’ and girls’ football teams participated in the GISSA Cup competition, and just like the middle school league, it featured all of the major international schools in Guangzhou.

上周，我们的中学高年级男子和女子足球队参加了GISSA 杯比赛，全广州的主要国际学校都参加了这次比赛。

Our girls celebrated victories over BASIS and Clifford school, finishing in 2nd place out of 6 girls’ teams!  Most importantly, the other schools voted for the ISA girls as the most sportsmanlike team in the competition, which delighted the coaches.  This is a coveted award that showcases a team that demonstrates for fairness, ethics, respect, and a sense of fellowship with one's competitors.  The is the second time this year that one our teams has won the award and shows the character of our teams and how their behaviour is a model for their peers to follow.  Molly Reynolds, Shirley Kim and Helen Zhang were key players in not only the victories, but also the sportsmanship trophy. 

足球女队代表学校出赛，庆祝与BASIS和Clifford学校对战中获得的胜利，并最终在6支球队中获得第二名的好成绩！更值得一提的是，通过其他学校的投票，爱莎足球女队获得了“最具体育精神队伍”的荣誉奖项，该奖项展示了一个团队在公平、道德、尊重以及与竞争对手之间的友谊等各方面的表现，可谓是一个令人“羡慕”也倍感骄傲的奖项。这也是我们的团队今年第二次获得该奖项，它彰显了我们爱莎体育赛队的品格，也让爱莎成为了能够起表率榜样作用的学校。这次比赛的成就离不开几个关键的学生，她们分别是：Molly Reynolds、Shirley Kim和Helen Zhang。

On a cold and wet Thursday, our boys won a thrilling opening match 3-2 against Clifford school with a golden goal scored in extra time by Cody Jang.  Later in the day, after falling behind 2-0 to AISGZ2, the boys showed resilience by coming back to win 3-2 with goals from Cody Hang and Bill Chen. Mr. Sean was impressed by the grit and determination of the boys’ team along with their positive, mature approach to the competition. The boys finished 3rd place out of 8 schools in a very competitive tournament. 

在一个湿冷的星期四，我们的校队男生在一场惊心动魄的揭幕战中以3比2战胜了祈福实验学校，加时赛中Cody打进了一个金球。当日随后的比赛中，在2-0落后于AISG2的情况下，男孩们依旧表现出坚韧不拔的精神，凭借Cody和Bill的进球，以3-2获胜。经过激烈的角逐，爱莎科学城男子足球队在8所学校中获得了第三名的好成绩。体育老师Sean表示，他对男孩们的勇气和决心，以及他们积极且成熟的比赛精神印象深刻。

These were fantastic results and showed the ongoing improvement of our teams. Alan Ling and Laurence Richards were stand out players for the Lions.  Bill Chen and Molly Reynolds displayed strong leadership qualities throughout the day.  All students are to be commended for their efforts. 

足球赛虽说暂时没有摘得桂冠，但仍然表明我们的队伍在不断进步。Alan和Laurence是狮子队的杰出球员；Bill 和 Molly在比赛中也展现了强大的领导力。我们认为所有学生的努力和付出都值得称赞！

Mr. Sean and Mr. Ross are very pleased with the improvement of the teams since the start of the season and look forward to upcoming PRC competitions in April and May.

With Covid protocols lifted, our boys’s and girls’ middle school volleyball squads were finally able to compete as part of the Pearl River Conference Red Division, with Guangzhou and Shenzhen schools now meeting for regular tournaments. 

随着疫情带来的种种封禁措施的撤销，国际学校之间的校际体育比赛终于又能如火如荼地开展。爱莎科学城的排球男队和女队终于又能代表珠三角地区的红队，与来自广州及深圳的其他国际学校同台竞技。

The Red Division is the strongest in the PRC, featuring large schools with well-established sport programmes. ISA Science City is delighted to be able to compete among these schools in just the second year of our programme.

红组是中国最强的组别，以大型学校和完善的体育项目为特色。爱莎科学城学校很高兴能在项目开展的第二年就能在这些学校中展开竞争。

At the end-of-season tournaments in Shenzhen, our boys’ and girls’ teams both finished in 3rd place out of 6 schools!  This was their first time competing in the Red division and their results surprised everyone in attendance.  The girls celebrated victories over QSI Shenzhen and Shekou International School en route to their 3rd place trophy.  The boys also defeated QSI Shenzhen and SWIS, ultimately raising the 3rd place trophy as well!

在深圳举行的季末比赛中，我们的排球男队和女队均在6所学校中获得了第三名的好成绩！这是他们第一次参加红色组的比赛，他们的成绩让在场的所有人都感到惊讶。女生们庆祝了对深圳科爱赛国际学校和蛇口国际学校的胜利，捧起了第三名的奖杯；另一边，男子组也击败了深圳科爱赛和深圳外国语学校，获得了第三名的成绩！

Locally, the same middle school volleyball teams both captured the GISSA Gold Division championships!  Our boys and girls defeated Nord Anglia School, The Canadian International School of Guangzhou and BASIS Guangzhou to claim the double championship!

而在爱莎科学城校内进行的联赛中，我们的校队作为“东道主”，更是夺得了GISSA黄金组的冠军！男队和女队分别击败了诺德安吉利亚学校、广州加拿大国际学校和广州贝赛思国际学校，获得了双料冠军！

Earlier in the month, at the GISSES cup, which featured 8 Guangzhou International schools, our girls captured 1st place in the plate competition while our boys  finished in 3rd out of 8 schools. Mr. Sean and our coaches believe that success cannot be judged by results alone.  If equal importance is the way our student athletes play the game, and the respect they show to opponents and each other. Throughout the high school season, our teams demonstrated the values of sportsmanship and were fine ambassadors for ISA Science City. 

本月早些时候，在由8所广州国际学校参加的GISSES杯比赛中，我们的女生获得了板块比赛的第一名，而我们的男生则在8所学校中获得了第三名。Sean先生和我们的教练们相信，成功不能只以结果来判断，同样重要的是我们学生运动员的比赛方式，以及他们对对手和同伴的尊重。在整个赛季中，我们的队伍展现了体育精神的价值，是展现爱莎体育风采的使者！
