学子家长说 | ASJ带给我的是安全感、成就感、平视感

2021年9月,作为全国首家港澳子弟学校,广州暨大港澳子弟学校(ASJ)正式开学。


办校以来,ASJ时常通过与家长和学生畅聊,多方位了解学校提出的理念是否落到实处,以及校园管理和师生关系的真实情况。


在学子家长眼里,ASJ是一所什么学校?近日,ASJ与3位学生和2位家长展开深度交流,跟随他们的视角,我们发现了三个不一样的ASJ:


第一,学校的老师们能够真诚和真实面对家长和学生,联结家长共同为学生的成长赋能;


第二,学校的课程与活动能够发掘学生闪光点并放大优势,推动学生主动为自己的成长赋能;


第三,学校的制度能够鼓励学生拓宽负责任的范畴,让学生推动自身从优秀走向卓越。







呈现真实,共同面对

学生特质:爱探索,愿意跟不同的人打交道和交流。


在校变化:入读适应期表现出哭闹、地上打滚等状态,到现在能认真听课和做笔记,自主完成作业,甚至能够在全校师生面前,毫不怯场地举手回答问题。



我喜欢学校的篮球场和足球场,还有饭堂的饭菜,很好吃。

我觉得学校的科技节最好玩,我做了一个赛车,是在老师的指导下花了五天的时间做成的:第一天是老师介绍怎么拼赛车,第二天和第三天让我们自己拼和写编程代码,第四天和第五天做赛车的测试,例如要避开障碍,我们就要填避障的代码。

ASJ为学生提供丰富多彩的STEAM课程,同时还开展创新科技节、PYP探究结题展、MYP社区设计以培养科技创新人才。


科技创新课程拓宽了孩子们对科技世界探索的视野,激发他们的科技灵感及对科技知识的求知欲望。


我最喜欢的老师是我的班主任兼语文老师,她上课很有趣,印象最深刻的是老师在课堂上讲的一句话「每个人从不同角度看一个事物的时候,看到的东西不一样」。

谈起择校时自己对幼儿园到小学的跨越时选校的基本原则,叶同学妈妈这样说:“幼升小是很重要的成长跨越,选对学校能更好地奠定孩子对教育的基本认知,例如老师是温暖,学习是有趣可探索的,成绩不是唯一的评价标准,能够得到不同方面的肯定和鼓励……



“我认为小学阶段最重要的是秩序感的建立,孩子能够清楚‘哪些是我可以做的,哪些是不可以的。’”叶同学妈妈表示,学校在这方面做得很到位,规范细致,表述清楚。


此外,叶同学妈妈也说到,学校老师对孩子的观察很入微,善于发掘孩子的才能和优势。“班主任建议我让孩子参加演讲和口才的兴趣班,并支持孩子参与相关活动展示特长。”


谈到为什么选择ASJ,叶同学妈妈表示,学校培养终身学习者的教育理念打动了她,而让她下定决心成为创校家庭,则是学校管理层的教育热情和真诚真实。


“在家长会上,能感受到校长和教学总监致力于回答家长困惑,基于事实情况解决问题,这给像是给我打了安心针一样。”叶同学妈妈表示,学校承认不完美并积极主动去改善的做法很值得点赞,“这种真实感让我觉得很踏实。”



作为家长,叶同学妈妈还提出了她独有的观点:“家长也要学习与学校共同成长,并在其中贡献自己的力量。”在她看来,选择新学校就像组建新家庭和新企业一样,没有谁能打包票说肯定一帆风顺,“实际上,家长也是学校的一份子,有责任让学校变得更好。”

在校变化:刚开始不敢在课堂上发言,后来在老师的肯定和家长的鼓励后,慢慢敢于表达自己,从一个沉默的听众变成积极的参与者。竭尽全力完成学习任务,善于与同学交流合作。



我喜欢打高尔夫球,学校就为我们(三位热爱打高尔夫球的同学)写了一篇专访,那一刻我感觉得到了很大的支持。

我印象最深刻的一件事情是第一次在国旗下讲话。因为紧张,前一天老师还陪着我练习到晚上9点多。但上台前还是非常紧张,不过经历过这一次后,对着大场合讲话就不怯了。

孩子是港籍生,在尝试了两所不同类型的学校后,我们把孩子转到这所专门为港澳籍学生打造的学校,我认为学校的课程体系更有利于孩子考香港或内地的大学。

广州暨大港澳子弟学校目前有IB课程、香港课程和HKDSE课程,并且与香港BAND1名校课程、教材、升学同步,能实现学生内地、港澳台及海外知名大学三通升学。


“小学时入读的双语学校后来更偏向应试方向,不太适合我们希望培养孩子多方面发展的育儿理念。”肖同学妈妈表示,在转入某外籍人员子女学校后,因为疫情,她改变了送孩子留学的想法。


“但不可否认的是,过去的两所学校也为孩子打下了扎实的学科基础,让孩子学会了用国际视野看待问题。”



重视家庭教育和亲子关系的肖同学妈妈表示自己一直着重与孩子及校方的沟通,“特别是转校这样的重大决策,孩子是否喜欢这所学校是其中的最关键部分。目前,从孩子的在校状态中,我们可以明显看出她对现在的学校感到很满意。”



“学校专门写了一篇报道,报道女儿热爱打高尔夫且参加比赛获得名次的事情,我觉得这是女儿自驱力形成的关键点。”肖同学妈妈表示,当时孩子感觉到极大的认可。


“我认为孩子内心力量的发展是通过鼓励激发出来的,学校在尊重、认同并且鼓励孩子的方面确实做得很不错。”



鼓励学生成为领袖

学生特质:为人正直,坦率乐观,有领导力,平时喜欢打羽毛球。


在校变化:刚开始时并不适应学校的寄宿生活,也不太敢表达自己。在成为生活部部长后,领袖角色的赋能让学生的独立性明显提升,学习上也更加勤奋努力,还能经常与老师探讨一些学习上的问题,学科成绩有非常大的进步。


寄宿生活改变了我,我觉得自己变得更为独立了,也不像过去那样万事都依赖家里人。

成为生活部部长锻炼了我的领导能力,我理解到每个人都有不同的想法,要通过商量达成共识,领导力并不代表着权威,而是要更懂得协商,还要付出更多才能得到认可。

谈到自己最大的改变,罗同学认为是在自己参与了学生会生活部的工作开始,“我当时就觉得进学生会既可以学习到很多为人处事的方式,也可以学习领导力,还可以向老师学习到很多跟别人沟通的方式。”



回忆学生会生活部部长的竞选过程,罗同学表示这是一次印象深刻的挑战,“老师要求我在全体学生面前演讲,除了要做竞选的PPT,还必须当众讲述管理理念和实施细则。”


在罗同学看来,如果说错一个字,可能会被所有人看笑话,“但经历过之后,就会发现不再害怕这种时刻,也更有自信了。”



“成为生活部部长后,我意识到学生会的工作并不能随意,而是要认真用心对待才能做好。”罗同学表示,自己慢慢认识到领导力的意义,“我要比其它人更为努力才能成为领袖;要敢于站出来成为带领者,还要更好地帮助他人;相信自己和相信团队的所有人能够合力做好一件事。”



“然后我就会发现自己的不足,觉得要学习更多才能胜任这个角色,可能也是这样我的学习也进步更大。”罗同学认为,带领团队的关键点是自己要比成员更为优秀,才能够更好的凝聚大家一起去做事情。


“还有就是要学会更友善和包容。”在她看来,成为部长并不代表着所有人要听从自己,反而是自己要多听听部里成员的意见和建议,“因为大家都是平等的关系,在这里面我也学会了如何尊重别人和倾听不同的声音。”

在与学生及家长的眼中,ASJ贯彻了其办学的精髓:用心发现每一位学生,与家长一起共同助力学生成为更好的自己。


所以,我们才能够看到家长的“安全感”,并主动为学校贡献更多;能看到师生关系的“平视感”,所以学生能被看见、被肯定和被鼓励而产生自我驱动力;还能看到学生呈现出来的满满“成就感”,持续的关爱和个性化发展让他们更加相信“我能”。

In September 2021, as the first school for Hong Kong and Macau children in China, ASJ was officially opened.


Since its inception, ASJ has often talked to parents and students to learn more about the implementation of the school's philosophy and the realities of campus management and student-teacher relations.


What kind of school is ASJ in the eyes of students' parents? Recently, ASJ had an in-depth conversation with three students and two parents, and following their perspectives, we found three different ASJs:


First, the school's teachers are honest and authentic with parents and students, connecting parents to empower their students' growth;


Second, the school's programs and activities identify students' strengths and amplify them, driving students to take the initiative to empower their own growth;


Third, the school system encourages students to broaden the scope of responsibility and allows them to push themselves from excellence to excellence.

Student traits: love to explore, willing to deal and interact with different people.


Changes in school: From crying and rolling on the floor during the adjustment period, they are now able to listen and take notes carefully, complete their homework independently, and even raise their hands to answer questions in front of the whole school without fear.



I like the basketball court and soccer field at school, and the food in the dining hall is delicious.

I think the school's technology festival was the most fun. I made a race car, which took five days to make under the teacher's guidance: the first day was the teacher's introduction on how to put together the race car, the second and third days let us put together and write the programming code by ourselves, and the fourth and fifth days did the test of the race car, for example, to avoid obstacles, we had to fill in the code of obstacle avoidance.

ASJ offers a wide variety of STEAM programs for students, as well as an Innovation and Technology Festival, PYP Inquiry Completion Fair, and MYP Community Design to nurture science and technology innovators.


The STI program broadens children's horizons in exploring the world of science and technology and inspires them to be inspired by technology and their desire to learn about it.


My favorite teacher was my homeroom teacher and language teacher. She was very interesting in class, and the most impressive thing she said in class was "Everyone sees different things when they look at something from different angles".

Talking about the basic principles of school selection when choosing your own school for the kindergarten to elementary school leap, Ye's mother had this to say: "Early childhood to elementary school is a very important growth leap, and choosing the right school can better lay down your child's basic perception of education, such as teachers are warm, learning is fun and explorable The school is not the only criterion for evaluation, but the ability to receive affirmation and encouragement from different aspects ......



"I think the most important thing at the elementary school level is the establishment of a sense of order, where the child is able to be clear about 'what I can do and what I can't.'" Ye's mother said the school does a good job in this area, with detailed norms and clear expressions.


In addition, Ye's mother also said that the school teachers are very observant of her child and are good at discovering her talents and strengths. "The classroom teacher suggested that I enroll my child in interest classes for speech and elocution, and supported my child to participate in related activities to showcase his or her strengths."


When it comes to why she chose ASJ, Ye's mother said that she was impressed by the school's educational philosophy of developing lifelong learners, and that what made her determined to become a founding family was the school administration's passion for education and genuine authenticity.


"At the parent-teacher conference, I could feel that the principal and the director of instruction were committed to answering parental confusion and solving problems based on the facts, which gave like a reassurance shot to me." Ye's mother said that the school's acknowledgement of imperfections and proactive approach to improvement was praiseworthy, "This sense of authenticity makes me feel grounded."



As a parent, Ye's mother also offered her unique perspective: "Parents also have to learn to grow with the school and contribute their part in it." In her opinion, choosing a new school is like forming a new family and a new business; no one can pack a ticket that it will be smooth sailing, "In fact, parents are part of the school and have a responsibility to make it better."

Student attributes: grateful, confident and generous, has a clear perception of himself, will actively pursue opportunities, and has a friendly and cordial relationship with his classmates.


Changes in school: At first, I was afraid to speak in class, but after the teacher's affirmation and parents' encouragement, I slowly dared to express myself and changed from a silent listener to an active participant. Does his best to complete his study tasks and is good at communicating and cooperating with his classmates.


I love to play golf and the school wrote an interview for us (three students who love to play golf) and I felt a great support at that moment.

One of the most impressive things I did was my first speech at the national flag. I was so nervous that my teacher practiced with me until after 9:00 pm the day before. But I was still very nervous before I went on stage, but after this experience, I was not afraid to speak to a big occasion.

I participated in the first sports meeting of the school and won the second place in the running event, which was very happy. Last month, I got a scholarship for my academic excellence, which made me feel more confident in my studies.

ASJ Scholarship Program

ASJ has over $2 million in scholarship programs for students in the academic, scientific and creative, athletic and artistic fields.

Xiao, who attended a bilingual school and a school for children of foreigners in elementary school, said she became more cheerful after coming to ASJ, "because the school teachers are attentive, loving and always encouraging, and give me the opportunity and platform to develop my strengths."


"It feels like this school is a better fit for me, and I'm able to get more visible support for the sports I like and always get affirmation and encouragement." At the same time, Xiao also said he now prefers to solve problems on his own and ask his teachers and family for help if he doesn't understand.

Our child is a Hong Kong student. After trying two different types of schools, we transferred our child to this school which is specially built for Hong Kong and Macau students, and I think the school's curriculum is more conducive for our child to get into a Hong Kong or Mainland university.

ASJ currently has IB, Hong Kong and HKDSE courses, and synchronized with the curriculum, teaching materials and progression to the prestigious BAND1 schools in Hong Kong, enabling students to pursue their studies in the Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and overseas renowned universities in three ways.


"The bilingual school I attended in elementary school later became more test-oriented and less suited to our parenting philosophy of wanting to foster our children's multifaceted development." Xiao's mother said she changed her mind about sending her child to study abroad after transferring to a school for children of expatriates because of the epidemic.

Changes at school: At the beginning, she did not adapt to the boarding life of the school and was not too afraid to express herself. After becoming the Head of Life, the empowering role of a leader has helped students become more independent, more diligent in their studies, and able to discuss academic issues with their teachers on a regular basis, resulting in very significant improvements in their academic performance.


Living in a boarding house has changed me. I feel more independent and not as dependent on my family for everything as I used to be.

Becoming the head of the Life Department has honed my leadership skills. I understand that everyone has different ideas and that consensus has to be reached through discussion, and that leadership does not mean authority, but rather a greater understanding of negotiation and having to give more to be recognized.

When it comes to her biggest change, Luo thinks it started when she got involved in the student council life department. I also learned a lot about how to communicate with other people from teachers."


Looking back on the campaign process for the Student Union Life Department Director, Luo said it was an impressive challenge, "My teacher asked me to give a speech in front of all the students, and in addition to making a PowerPoint presentation for the campaign, I had to talk about the management philosophy and implementation rules in public."


In Luo's opinion, if you say a word wrong, you may be looked at by everyone as a joke, "but after experiencing it, you will find that you are no longer afraid of such moments and you are more confident."


"After becoming the head of the life department, I realized that the work of the student council is not casual, but I have to treat it seriously and attentively to do well." Luo said she is slowly realizing the significance of leadership, "I have to work harder than others to become a leader; I have to be brave enough to stand up and be a leader, but also better at helping others; and believe in myself and believe that everyone on the team can work together to do a good job."


"Then I would find my own shortcomings and feel that I have to learn more to be able to take on the role, and probably that's how I progressed more in my learning as well." According to Luo, the key point of leading a team is that he or she has to be better than the members in order to be able to better bring everyone together to do things.


"There is also learning to be more friendly and tolerant." In her opinion, becoming a minister does not mean that everyone has to listen to herself, but rather that she has to listen more to the opinions and suggestions of the members of the ministry, "because we all have an equal relationship, and in that I have learned how to respect others and listen to different voices."

In the eyes of students and parents, ASJ carries out the essence of its school: discovering each student with heart and soul, and working with parents to help students become better versions of themselves.
