ISA Tianhe PYP Exhibition – "Sharing the Planet" was successfully concluded in April with students' articles published in ISA Newsletter. In the article, the students shared their inquiry process, experiences, and ideas in exploring the theme. They aimed to appeal to more people to be able to protect the environment and save our planet. When the students' ideas and articles are respected and seen, they become more confident, and their idea of protecting the earth influences more people in the community.

爱莎天河的小学毕业成果展——“共享地球”在四月圆满落幕,学生们的文章也在爱莎社区周刊——《爱莎舍》中进行了发布。在文章中,学生分享了他们主题探究的过程、想法和从中获得的经验。他们的宗旨是呼吁更多人可以保护环境和爱护地球。当学生们的想法和文章得到了尊重和被看到时学生们也会更加自信,他们守护地球的理念才能影响到更多人。

Hi, I am Dora, and this article is about strategies to solve conflict.

During the ISA Tianhe PYP Exhibition, I focused on Conflict Resolution. My central idea was: ‘Sincere cooperation with conflict resolution helps build healthy relationships’ and my lines of inquiry were: 1. Conflict, 2. Conflict Resolution and 3. Relationships 4. Cooperating to build healthy relationships.

在爱莎天河小学毕业成果上,我的作品主题是冲突解决。我的中心思想是:“真诚合作解决冲突有助于发展健康人际关系”,我的探究线索是:1.冲突;2. 冲突解决;3. 人际关系;4.合作共建健康人际关系。


Conflict resolution is a very important skill, and it is useful in our daily lives, but many people don’t have these skills. If this applies to you, well, you're in luck. This article has the strategies you’ve been looking for!

冲突解决能力是一项重要技能,对我们的日常生活大有裨益,但很多人都不具备这一技能。如果您也不具备这项技能,那今天可来对了。本篇文章正要介绍您想要的冲突解决策略!


Firstly ‘try to just stop’. When people get into conflict they usually start fighting, and that just makes the problem worse. So, just stop. 

首先,“试着停止”。人们在陷入冲突的时候通常会开始争吵,但这只会加剧冲突,所以干脆停止。


Secondly, ‘watch your words’. You might say hurtful words to people, and they might not like it. So, watch your words and be sure not to say mean things in the heat of the moment. 

其次,“注意言辞”。大家在冲突中可能会对他人恶语相向,惹人伤心,所以大家要注意言辞,不要一时冲动口出恶言。


Thirdly, ‘talk it all through’. Talking it all through might be the best strategy to solve conflict. Just a few things to remember when you do. Use a calm voice, and don’t put the other person down and try to find solutions that work for both sides. 

第三,“把事情说清楚”。把事情说清楚也许是解决冲突的最好方法,但我们要牢记几点注意事项:声音要冷静,不要贬低他人,尝试找到双方都能接受的解决方案。


Finally, ‘plan ahead’. The best way to end conflict is to plan ahead. You can try to think of what will happen in the future and plan something to prevent it. 

最后,“未雨绸缪”。结束冲突的最佳方法就是未雨绸缪,提前计划。大家可以试着想想未来会发生什么,然后提前计划,防范未然。


Please use these strategies the next time you encounter conflict. I really hope they helped you! Please think carefully the next time you find yourself in conflict and try to use these steps to help you build more positive relationships.

"Animal Welfare

Our topic for PYP Exhibition was Animal Welfare! We chose this topic because we love animals and people sometimes can treat animals unfairly. Our central idea was: Understanding animal welfare can influence their fair treatment. Our lines of inquiry were: 1. Animal Welfare, 2. Issues related to animal welfare, 3. Human responsibility for Animal Welfare. 

我们小学毕业成果展的主题是动物福利!之所以选择这个主题是因为有时候动物们会受到人类不公正的对待。我们的中心思想是:对动物福利的理解可以影响动物的公平待遇。我们的探究方向是:1. 动物福利;2. 与动物福利相关的问题;3. 人类在动物福利方面肩负的责任。


We did some research on this topic and we focused on the five freedoms which are: 

我们对这个主题进行了研究,主要侧重以下五种自由:


- freedom from discomfort; 

- 感受舒适的自由;


- freedom from pain, injury and disease; 

- 远离痛苦、伤害和疾病的自由;


- freedom from hunger and thirst;

- 远离饥渴的自由;


- freedom to express normal behavior; 

- 表达天性的自由;


-freedom from fair and distress; 

- 享受公正与安全的自由


We interviewed some teachers to know who took care of their pet when they went on holiday, and we designed a survey for students, parents, and teachers about Animal Welfare to give them a better understanding of the topic. We went to an animal shelter because they care for many cats and dogs daily and they know how to take care of animals in the right way. They also have a camera to make sure that the pets are healthy, comfortable, and safe at all times, even when humans are not around. 

我们采访了一些老师以了解他们在度假的时候谁来照顾他们的宠物。我们还针对学生、家长和老师设计了一份有关动物福利的调查问卷,帮助他们更好地理解该主题。我们参观了一家动物收容所,因为那里的员工每天都在照顾猫猫狗狗,知道如何正确照顾动物。动物收容所里还有监控,即便没有工作人员在,也可以随时确保宠物们的健康、舒适度和安全。


We also created a quiz and a survey that would tell you if you were ready for a pet. if you and your family are thinking about adopting a pet, complete this quiz to see if you are ready!

We are Lyndey and Joyce. This article is to share our experience through our PYP Exhibition.

大家好,我们是 Lyndey 和 Joyce。我们在小学毕业成果展中用这篇文章跟大家分享了我们的经历。


First, we are going to talk about our main idea, which is Gender Equity and we specifically focused on education within Gender Equity. For our Exhibition we decided to focus our inquiry on this concept because we found this subject extremely interesting and wanted to find out more about it in our community. During our PYP Exhibition, we feel like we have learned a great deal. Our central idea was: Different perspectives on gender equity within education can cause conflict and harmony. Our lines of inquiry were: 1. Gender equity 2. Perspectives on gender equity 3. The impact educators have on a leaner’s future choice.

首先要介绍的是我们的主题,即性别平等,我们尤为关注教育中的性别平等。之所以在成果展中选择这个主题是因为这一主题非常有趣,我们想要深入了解它在我们社区当中的情况。在小学毕业成果展中,我们收获颇丰。我们的中心思想是:关于教育中的性别平等的不同观点既会导致冲突也会带来和谐。我们的探究线索是:1.性别平等;2.性别平等观点;3. 教育工作者对学习者未来选择的影响。


Within our research, we found that Gender Equity means respecting everyone and staying away from stereotyping. After researching we did many actions. We met with Dr. Mike Jones, who has studied issues relating to gender equity for many years and is somewhat of an expert on the subject. In our meetings with him we learned so many things about Gender Equity and the different perspectives regarding this concept. He also helped us design our survey and analyse the data to create an action plan. We sent out a survey to the whole ISA community to find out what the teachers think about issues related to gender equity, particularly within their lessons. After analysing our data, we created a presentation for teachers and presented it to them in their staff meeting. Our aim for this survey was to try and get more teachers to think about gender equity within their own classrooms and when they are planning their lessons.

As part of our research, we also went to the New Zealand Consulate to speak with Ms. Rachel and we asked her questions about gender equity, she gave us a lot of data out gender equity and her talk was very informative we learned that she experienced gender inequality first hand, in several different contexts throughout her initial stint as a diplomat Ms. Rachel also spoke a lot about how much women in New Zealand were encouraged to pursue diverse career paths and because of this, the country is one of the most progressive in the world when it comes to gender equity. 作为我们研究的一部分,我们还前往新西兰驻广州总领事馆与Rachel 女士进行了交谈。我们向她咨询了一些有关性别平等的问题,她给了我们很多的相关数据,她在言谈之间也为我们提供了很多信息。我们了解到,在她初次担任外交官的过程中,她曾在不同情况下亲身经历过性别不平等。Rachel 女士还说新西兰大力鼓励女性追求多元职业道路,正因为如此,新西兰是世界上在性别平等方面最进步的国家之一。


We learned a lot about gender equity, and we really liked this experience. We hope you can think about this concept in your daily life and in your lessons too!

"Carbon Footprint

During the ISA Tianhe PYP Exhibition, our group focused on Carbon Footprint. We chose this concept because we would like to help the environment and help other people reduce their carbon footprint. 

在爱莎天河毕业成果展中,我们组关注的是碳足迹。之所以选择这个主题是因为我们想要助力环境保护,帮助他人减少碳足迹。


Today we will explain why we should reduce our Carbon Footprint. 

今天我们要分享的是为什么要减少我们的碳足迹。


Our central idea was: Human activities and choices affect the earth's ecosystems, and our lines of inquiry were: 1. What is an ecosystem? 2. Human activities and 3. Choices and human activities have an impact on the earth’s ecosystems. 

我们的中心思想是:人类的活动和选择会影响地球的生态系统。我们的探究线索是:1.什么是生态系统?2. 人类活动3.以及人类选择会影响地球的生态系统。


We feel that people need to be aware that our choices make a difference on the Carbon Footprint of everyone as a whole. If we don’t reduce our Carbon Footprint, then the environmental situation will get worse, which will lead to more natural disasters, global warming and climate change.

我们认为人们应当意识到,我们自身的选择会改变整个人类的碳足迹。如果我们不减少自己的碳足迹,自然环境会变得更加糟糕,自然灾害会更加频繁,气候变暖和气候变化也会加剧。


So, how do we reduce our Carbon Footprint? Here are some tips! Firstly, buy and use LED lights, and turn off the lights while not using them (taps also). In addition, you must make sure to close the fridge door after using it. Also, when you are shopping, try to shop at ecofriendly companies, such as Patagonia. 

那么,我们该怎样减少碳足迹呢?这里有几个小建议!首先,购买并使用LED 灯,记得随手关灯(还有水龙头)。此外,用完冰箱一定要记得把冰箱门关上。同时,我们在购物的时候可以选择环境友好型公司。


By doing small things like this, we can change the world! Furthermore, we can also teach others on how to reduce their carbon footprint, which is the ultimate objective of this team. 

通过这些小事,我们可以改变世界!另外,我们还可以教其他人减少他们的碳足迹,这也是我们组的终极目标。

"Homelessness

We completed our PYP Exhibition on Homelessness, and we are writing this article to inform you about a charity called Homeless Love and what we did to help!

我们在小学毕业成果展中呈现的无家可归现象主题展已圆满谢幕。希望大家通过本文了解一个叫Homeless Love(无家可归的爱)的慈善机构以及我们为其提供的帮助!


This charity was set up in 2014 and has been working with homeless people within the community since then. It is located in Guangzhou Tianhe Road 230 OneLink Walk. 

这个机构成立于2014 年,一直致力于帮助当地社区无家可归的流浪人员。其办公地点位于广州市天河路230 号万菱汇。


We went there to help them pack food and deliver it to homeless people. People donate noodles, apples, bananas, sausages, juice, cooked rice, and eggs. At around 9:30pm, we went under the Lie De bridge and gave food to the homeless people. 

有很多好心人向机构捐赠苹果、香蕉、香肠、米饭和鸡蛋。我们去到机构帮助他们分装食物,然后送给无家可归的流浪者们。当晚9:30 左右,我们前往猎德大桥把食物送给了流浪汉们。


It was a lot of work, but it made us proud of ourselves. During our Exhibition process, we wanted to get a donation box at ISA so thar our community could help homeless people, and that’s exactly what we did! Now, our community can also help Homeless Love by donating non-perishables, men’s clothing, backpacks, shoes, toiletries and more! If you have any of these items that you would like to donate, please send them to the charity and help us make a difference.

那天虽然很累,但我们都为自己感到自豪。在成果展期间,我们想在学校设置一个捐赠箱,让爱莎社区也帮助无家可归的人们,事实上我们也真的做到了!现在,我们的爱莎社区也可以通过捐赠不易腐败的食物、衣物、背包、鞋子和洗漱用品等等来帮助Homeless Love。如果大家有任何物品想要捐赠,请把它们送往该机构,跟我们一起行动起来。


The charity also meets on Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays at the OneLink parking lot. You can volunteer if you have spare time or just want to help. It is incredibly fun and rewarding to do. I hope you can find the time to help the 'Homeless love' Charity. Thank you. 

该慈善机构每周四、周六和周日都会在万菱汇的停车场集合。大家如果有时间或是想要贡献一份力量,可以成为该机构的志愿者。这会是一个非常有趣、有意义的经历。希望大家可以抽空为“Homeless Love”机构贡献一份力量。谢谢。

"Food Waste

We are Harvey and Aaron; we are from ISA Tianhe. Six weeks ago, we started to do our PYP Exhibition, and we decided to focus on food waste. 

大家好,我们是Harvey 和 Aaron,来自爱莎天河。六周前,我们开始准备我们的小学毕业成果展,并将我们的主题定为食物浪费。


Firstly, we discussed our central idea and lines of inquiry with our Year 5 teachers. Our central idea was Information about food waste impacts people’s choices and behaviour. Our lines of inquiry were 1. Different ways people waste food, 2. Reducing food waste is the responsibility of community members and 3. The importance of recognising food waste.

首先,我们跟5年级的老师们探讨了我们的中心思想和探究线索。我们的中心思想是“有关食物浪费的信息会影响人们的选择和行为”。我们的探究线索是:1.人们浪费食物的不同方式;2. 减少食物浪费是每一个社区成员的责任;3. 对食物浪费的认识的重要性。


To get more information about food waste at ISA Tianhe, we interviewed Chef Ken. After the interview, we decided to measure how much food the students at ISA Tianhe wasted every day. When we first measured, we were wasting approximately 400kg of food each week. But after our campaign, this dropped to 200kg. We hope this number will continue to drop. Then, we made a video for the ISA Tianhe students to watch during assembly time as our aim was to get them to waste less food. 

为了了解更多爱莎天河食物浪费的情况,我们采访了食堂主厨Ken。采访过后,我们决定测量爱莎天河学生每天浪费的食物量。我们第一次测量的时候,每周浪费的食物重达400kg 左右,经过我们的宣传之后,食物浪费量降到了200kg。我们希望这个数字可以持续保持下降趋势。之后,我们为爱莎天河的同学们制作了一个视频,并在集会的时候向大家播放。我们的目的在于倡导同学们减少食物浪费。


Our favorite part of our PYP Exhibition was the field trip to Happy Monk. In Happy Monk, we visited the Manger, Lili Wang, and we asked her some questions about food waste, she introduced how Happy Monk deals with wasted food, and she told us how they also hired a company to collect wasted food. 

在这次小学毕业成果展中,我们最喜欢的环节就是在Happy Monk餐厅的实地研学。在Happy Monk,我们见到了餐厅经理Lili Wang,并向她咨询了一些有关食物浪费的问题。她向我们介绍了Happy Monk如何处理食物浪费,她们请了一家专业公司帮忙收集顾客剩下的食物。


Next, we created a poster with a student pledge to encourage students to waste less food.  The pledge was a huge success, because a lot of people signed it to agree to waste less food. 

后面,我们还制作了一张写有学生承诺的海报,鼓励同学们减少食物浪费。很多学生在海报上签了名,拥护减少食物浪费,让我们的海报宣传活动获得了圆满成功。

Finally, we presented our results to our parents on the 24th of March. 

最后,我们在3 月24 日向家长们展示了我们的成果。


We had a great experience doing this project and we are very grateful for all the help from our Mentors and all Year Five teachers! 

这个项目是一次非常棒的经历,非常感谢我们的导师和五年级全体老师的帮助!

"Physical Wellbeing

During the ISA PYP Exhibition, our group worked on ‘Physical Wellbeing.’

在爱莎天河的小学毕业成果展中,我们组的主题是“身体健康”。


Our central idea was: A Balanced lifestyle contributes to physical wellbeing. We focused our lines of inquiry on a balanced lifestyle, physical wellbeing, impact of an unbalanced lifestyle and action to promote a balanced lifestyle.

我们的中心思想是:平衡的生活方式有利于身体健康。我们的探究线索是平衡的生活方式、身体健康、不平衡的生活方式的影响和促进平衡生活方式的行动。


During this experience, we interviewed our school Chef and from his feedback and answers, we decided to display an informational PowerPoint about healthy diets and choosing a balanced diet on our canteen T.V. during lunchtimes. Hopefully, this will encourage students to eat healthily!

在这次体验中,我们采访了学校食堂的主厨,听了他的反馈和回答之后,我们决定制作一份关于健康饮食的幻灯片演示稿,并在午餐时间在食堂的电子屏幕上播放。希望这个演示稿可以鼓励同学们健康饮食!


We learned that exercise is extremely important for keeping our bodies fit and healthy. As a result, we started a ‘Wake Up Shake Up’ dance in the mornings on our playground. This means that all the students at ISA start the day with movement and exercise!

我们了解到,锻炼对保持身体健康极为重要,因此我们早上开始在操场上跳 ‘Wake Up Shake Up’ 舞蹈。这意味着,爱莎天河的所有学生都会在运动和锻炼中开启新的一天!


We also learned that being healthy is vital for your overall wellbeing. A balanced diet with all food groups (protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins) will help you look after your nutritional needs. 

我们还了解到保持身体健康对我们的整体健康至关重要,包含所有食物类别(蛋白质、碳水化合物、脂肪、维生素)的均衡饮食可以满足我们的营养需求。


Furthermore, exercising daily will keep you active and fit. Being fit and healthy can also have many positive impacts on people’s lives, such as helping you to feel more motivated in your daily life, learn more effectively and sleep better. Being healthy also reduces your chances of getting certain illnesses and can help you recover more quickly.

此外,每天锻炼可以让我们保持活力和健康,为我们的生活带来很多积极的影响,比如在日常生活中增强我们的动力,提高我们的学习效率和睡眠质量。保持健康可以减少某些疾病的患病几率,还可以帮助我们更快地恢复。
