EY4 Transition Day 幼小衔接体验日 | 在熟悉的校园开启新的学习旅程

The transition to Primary is a milestone in the developmental experience for Early Years students. Students in Early Years and Primary are very different such as their way of thinking, learning habits, and life skills. In ISA Tianhe, we value the holistic development of our children and give them the best possible support. Our early years and primary departments work closely together to create the best conditions for children's development and to help children achieve a smooth transition from Early Years to Primary. Therefore, on 9 May, ISA Tianhe held a Transition Day activity to help children transition to Primary, in collaboration with home and school.

对于幼儿园的孩子而言,平稳的过渡到小学是成长经历中一个重要的里程碑。幼儿园与小学阶段的孩子从思维方式、学习习惯、生活技能等均是大不相同的。在爱莎天河,我们重视孩子们的全面发展,给予孩子们最大的支持。爱莎天河的幼儿园部与小学部之间密切沟通,为孩子们的发展创造良好的条件,帮助孩子们顺利的实现幼小衔接。因此,在5月9日,爱莎天河开展了幼小衔接体验日活动,家校合作助力孩子们顺利完成幼小衔接。

On Tuesday the 9th of May, we were very happy to welcome our EY4 parents to experience a transition day that showcased our inquiry-based approach to learning. 

5月9日星期二,我们非常高兴地迎接幼儿园大班的家长来参加体验幼小衔接日,有机会向家长展示我们的探究式教学方法。


As a central belief of the IB, our teachers facilitate opportunities for the students to take an inquiry-based approach to their learning, not only during UOI lessons but also in Maths and English lessons. We encourage students to ask questions, experiment with ideas and reflect on how they could improve their project or piece of work.

作为IB国际文凭组织的核心理念,我们的教师不仅为学生提供探究课程,而且将探究式学习方法融入在数学和英语课程中。我们鼓励学生提出问题,尝试各种想法,并思考如何改进他们的作品。


During this transition day, the parents got a first-hand experience of how a UOI lesson might be set up for Y1 students. The parents were challenged to be scientists and explore how materials can change states from powder to liquid to solid. Parents experienced working in groups, communicating with their peers and fun hands-on experiments.

在这次幼小衔接活动中,家长们直观地体验了一年级的探究课程。在课程中,家长们的任务是以一名科学家的身份探索材料和物质的变化——如何从粉末到液体再到固体的状态。家长们体验了分组工作、团队合作,以及有趣的动手实验。


Parents then met their children up in the Y1 classrooms where the students took part in the same experiments. The lesson began with children reviewing what they have already learnt about materials in EY4 and learning some new vocabulary for describing the states of materials. The students were then also challenged to become scientists and 2 stations were provided:

随后,家长们与孩子们一同参与一年级的探究实验课程中。课程开始时,孩子们回顾了他们在EY4学年中已经学过的有关材料的知识,并学习了一些描述材料状态的新词汇。课上,学生们尝试做了两个实验:


In station 1, the experiment first looked at the difference between solids and liquids. The students then used cornstarch mixed with water to create Oobleck. Their task was to determine whether the substance was a solid or a liquid.  The amount of water students chose to add altered the consistency of their final substance.

在第一个实验中,学生们观察了固体和液体的区别。他们将玉米淀粉与水混合,制作出欧不裂(非牛顿液体)。他们的任务是判断该物质是固体还是液体。学生们选择加入的水量将会改变物质的状态。


In station 2, the students had to experiment with painting on different materials so they could tell their Year 1 friends’ which material would be best suited to paint on.

第二个实验,学生们尝试在不同的材料上绘画,然后通过实际操作和对比确定哪种材料最适合绘画。


For home learning the EY4 students were challenged to be scientists at home. Each student received a packet of pudding powder - they had to follow the instructions to mix the ingredients to make a liquid, then they heated the liquid on the stove and cool it in the fridge to create a delicious pudding that they shared with their mothers to celebrate Mother’s Day.

家校共建有助于更好地促进孩子的学习和成长。母亲节来临之际,老师给学生们布置了一份特别的家庭作业,每位学生都收到了一包布丁粉。他们需要再加按照操作指南将原料与水混合并加热成液体,然后放进冰箱冷却,制成一份美味的布丁。在母亲节当天与妈妈分享,以庆祝母亲节。


All of our EY4 students had a very fun visit to the Y1 classrooms and can’t wait to move into our Primary Years Program in September 2023!

幼儿园大班的学生们在参与了一年级的课程体验之后,他们已经迫不及待地进入到9月的小学课程中!


Through the activity, the Early Years children have been introduced to the learning life of Primary in advance, inspiring them to look forward to Primary school life. It has provided a good connection for the children to better adapt to Primary school life and, at the same time, paved the way for a smooth transition to primary school. We sincerely hope that the children will be confident to enter Primary and start a new learning life on a familiar campus.

通过此次活动,幼儿园大班的孩子们已经提前了解到小学的学习生活,激发了他们对小学生活的热爱和憧憬。这为孩子们更好地适应小学生活提供了良好连接,同时为他们顺利地过渡到小学铺垫了基础。我们衷心的希望孩子们都能迈着自信的步伐进入小学,在熟悉的校园中开始崭新的学习生活。
