ISA Tianhe offers diverse inquiry programmes to enrich students' learning experience. Teachers incorporate the Harry Potter theme into the UOI lessons - How the World Works, to enhance the fun in education and allow students to understand the new knowledge better. The fun classes help to develop students' independent learning skills and stimulate their interest in learning while creating a relaxed and enjoyable classroom atmosphere that effectively enhances students' learning.

Investigating and understanding the properties of materials enables people to use them to solve problems and/or create.

The Year 4 students at ISA Tianhe embarked on a spellbinding journey as they were introduced to their latest Unit of Inquiry (UOI): How the World Works. With a focus on properties and changes in materials, our creative educators transformed the classroom into a magical realm inspired by the enchanting world of Harry Potter.

爱莎天河四年级的学生踏上了一段新的探究主题学习旅程——世界是如何运作的。作为引入探究单元的一部分,老师们创意地将课室变成哈利·波特魔法学院,在神奇的魔法世界中探索不同材料的特性和变化。


Dressed in full Hogwarts attire, our teachers welcomed the eager students to their beautifully decorated classroom, where they were sorted into their respective houses by the legendary Sorting Hat. The excitement was palpable as students formed new allegiances and prepared for the fantastical learning experiences that lay ahead.

在哈利·波特主题的课室中,身穿霍格茨沃服装的教师们等待着学生们的到来。在学生们惊叹不已的同时,每位学生被神奇的“分院帽”分配到不同的学院。通过学院制可以帮助学生形成归属感,并准备迎接学习新的知识。在创新性的课堂中,学生们的兴奋之情溢于言表。



The magic continued as students crafted their very own Golden Snitch catapults, utilizing elastic bands, ping pong balls and their newfound understanding of material properties. They then ventured outdoors for a thrilling display of scientific sorcery, led by Mr. Oliver (or should we say Professor Dumbledore). The Exploding Cola and Elephant Toothpaste experiments showcased the awe-inspiring power of changes in properties, leaving students mesmerized and eager to learn more.

学生们在神奇的魔法世界中探索更多的事物。学生们用橡胶圈、乒乓球,以及他们对材料特殊性的了解,制作了“金色飞贼”弹射器。在Mr. Oliver (或哈利·波特故事中的邓布利多教授)的带领下,他们在户外开展了一场惊心动魄科学实验。通过爆炸可乐和大象牙膏的实验,老师向学生展示了材料属性变化的惊人力量;学生们目不转睛的同时,他们渴望了解和学习更多与材料相关的知识。

The lesson concluded with students reflecting on their experience, starting to read Chapter 1 and by watching the opening scene of the Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone movie. Later that day students took part in a bubbling musical potion recording activity with their music teacher Mr. Julian.

在本次课程结束时,学生们对主题探究进行了回顾和反思。他们开始阅读《哈利·波特与魔法石》的第一章节,并观看了电影的开头场景。随后,学生们在音乐老师Mr. Julian的带领下,录制了一首魔法音乐。


All these activities combined to set the stage for a truly captivating and educational Unit of Inquiry. With their imaginations ignited, the Year 4 students of ISA Tianhe are now ready to delve into the mysteries of How the World Works, guided by J.K. Rowling’s magical world of Harry Potter.
