Students from the ISA Wuhan won the city final of the 2023 SPBCN (Spelling Bee of China) after four rounds of competition! They won the following awards:

在2023年SPBCN国际英文拼词大会（Spelling Bee of China）城市决赛中，武汉爱莎的同学们经过四轮角逐，在全市中小学参赛选手中脱颖而出，获得佳绩。

The Spelling Bee (SPB) competition originated in the United States in 1925, with a history lasting nearly a century. Participants must memorize the spellings of words as written in dictionaries, and recite them accordingly. The contest is highly entertaining, fun, and educational. 

It attracts 11 million contestants from more than 100 countries around the world yearly. It is recognized as the oldest, most influential, and largest English spelling contest for primary and secondary school students around the world.

The SPB is truly a trial of ability: a single word can dictate the outcome of the game. Every letter is nerve-racking for the participants and their supporting parents. 

Our ISA Wuhan participants were calm and confident during the competition, owing to their efforts and enthusiasm for English learning.

“The competition is really intense and making just one mistake would result in elimination. I am very nervous, but my child is very excited on the stage, just like she is playing games.” Mom of the award-winning student Yoyo said. 

“Yoyo has always been very enthusiastic about English learning and has achieved good results. Thank you very much for the support and dedication of the school teachers.”

ISA Wuhan carries out high-quality English teaching in multiple ways to stimulate students' intrinsic learning motivation. Yoyo's mother mentioned that the proportion of expats in the school is very high, and most of the teachers speak English as their first language. 

So, Yoyo uses English frequently in and out of class, which is one of the important reasons for her good listening and spelling ability.

In addition to the immersive language environment, the school adopts the IBPYP framework and integrates it with the Cambridge syllabus as a solid curriculum system, supplemented by Oxford Reading Tree as an extracurricular reading book, along with MyOn and IXL as online English learning platforms. 

All ensure that students acquire enough knowledge in the class and individual home learning, which also make students study with joy.

The regional competition has come to an end for now, and our students from ISA Wuhan will represent the Wuhan competition area to participate in the national finals in mid-July. We wish them all the best and hope they will achieve great success once again!
