Year 3 students started a new journey of UOI (Unit of Inquiry) based on one of the IB PYP themes, “Who Are We”. It surrounded the central idea – “Understanding the importance of physical and emotional health can help us to make informed and responsible choices”, which served as an entry point for a series of inquiry activities about health. Through fun inquiry activities, students learned about types of food groups, healthy habits, physical health and mental wellbeing.

学期伊始,三年级学生踏上了一段新的IB探究之旅——“我们是谁”,以“了解身心健康的重要性有助于我们做出明智与负责任的选择”,这一中心思想为切入,开展系列关于健康的探究活动。通过趣味实践活动,学生们了解了食物群的种类、健康饮食与习惯、身心健康等。

Inquiry Activities

 探究活动 

The first inquiry activity was making healthy meals, which inspired the students to get into the kitchen and cook healthy food. They demonstrated strong hands-on skills during cooking.

本次探究之旅以制作健康食物拉开帷幕,激发了学生们走进厨房的热情,烹饪健康又美味的食物。在烹饪的过程中,学生们展现出超强的动手能力。


Students have rated images related to health on their importance and justified their opinions. They recorded all the food they consumed in a day and categorised the foods to determine if they were following a healthy diet. They learned about food groups such as carbohydrates, proteins, dairy, fats, fruits, vegetables, vitamins and minerals.

学生们对与健康有关的图片进行了健康评分,并对自己的观点进行了论证。同时,他们记录自己一天所摄入的所有食物,将食物分类,并判断自己是否遵循健康饮食。他们学习了解不同食物的类别,如碳水化合物、蛋白质、乳制品、脂肪、水果、蔬菜、维生素和矿物质等。

Interdisciplinary Learning

 跨学科学习 

Diverse inquiry activities form interdisciplinary learning, and this inquiry unit closely relates to other disciplines. Interdisciplinary learning integrates topics into English, Writing, Mathematics, P.E., Art, etc. It uses and integrates relevant knowledge and methods of other disciplines to carry out comprehensive learning and promote students' all-round development.

多元的探究活动形成跨学科学习,探究单元与其他学科紧密关联。跨学科学习将主题融入到英语、写作、数学、体育、美术等,运用并整合其他学科的相关知识和方法,开展综合性学习,促进学生全面发展。


Students used the "procedural writing" skill learned in the writing class to create recipes. They described the ingredients, instructions and finished dishes in a simple and step-by-step format. P.E. classes also conducted a series of exercise activities based on the " health " theme. Through physical activity, students recognised that exercise benefits in maintaining or improving health.

学生们运用在写作课所学习的技能——“程序性写作”编写食谱,以及用简单明了的语言清楚地叙述所使用的材料、步骤、成品。体育课也以“健康”为主题,开展系列锻炼活动。通过体育锻炼,让他们认识到运动有利于保持或改善健康。


Through the learning of UOI, students took action on healthy lifestyles, understood that they are responsible for their health, and took care of their physical health and mental wellbeing. The students fully demonstrated the characteristics of IB students as learners who are Inquirers, Thinkers and Balanced

通过探究单元的学习,学生成为健康生活方式的践行者,懂得自己是健康的第一责任人,并如何保持身心健康。同时,本次探究单元充分展示了IB学子积极探究勤于思考均衡发展的学习者特质。
