【G7 Field Trip】探索潮州,发现“仁”的存在 | I-EP中学(IB认证)

Field trip is an educational activity that encourages students to engage in field learning and nature exploring. It provides children with an open learning environment that enables them to actively acquire knowledge and apply it in practice. There is ample evidence that field trip is effective in developing students' teamwork, leadership and problem-solving skill.


外出探究是一种鼓励学生进行实地学习和对自然环境实施探索的教育活动。它为孩子们提供了一个开放的学习环境,促使他们积极主动地获取知识并将其应用于实践之中。丰富的实例告诉我们,外出探究能有效培养学生们的团队合作能力、领导才能和问题解决技能。



Chaozhou, as one of the birthplaces of Chinese culture, has a deep history and culture, attracting students around the world to explore. From October 16 to 18, 2023, all I-EP G7 students have visited Chaozhou for an exciting study tour with the theme of caring.

潮州,作为中华文化的重要发源地之一,其深远而丰厚的历史文化内涵吸引着各地学生前来探索。2023年10月16日-10月18日,I-EP七年级的学生们便来到了潮州,以“仁”为主题,进行了一次精彩纷呈的研学之旅。



广济桥 Guangji Bridge


The first stop of this field trip is Guangji Bridge, an ancient stone bridge across the Ting River, known as the "Mother of Chaozhou". Guangji Bridge is not only a landmark of Chaozhou, but also a symbol of the emotional bond that connects people, corresponding to the theme of this activity, which is "caring". While walking on the bridge, the students appreciated the gurgling river underneath the bridge, learned about the profound connotation of the culture of the bridge, and gained a deeper understanding of bridge engineering and architectural design.

本次探究之旅的第一站是广济桥。广济桥是一座跨越汀江的古老石桥,被誉为“潮州之母”。 广济桥不仅是潮州的地标,还是连接着人们情感纽带的象征,与本次探究活动的主题“仁”相应和。在桥上漫步时,学生们不仅欣赏到了桥下潺潺流动的河水,还了解到广济桥文化的深厚内涵。他们对于桥梁工程、建筑设计等方面的知识也有了更深入的了解。



潮州博物馆 Chaozhou Museum


Chaozhou Museum, where a large number of valuable exhibits of the history, culture and art of Chaozhou are displayed. Through viewing the exhibits and visiting the exhibitions, the students gained an in-depth understanding of Chaozhou's traditional crafts, religious beliefs and the evolution of its culture through the ages. The visit gave our students a more intuitive and deeper understanding of the development of Chinese culture.

潮州博物馆,这里陈列着大量关于潮州历史、文化和艺术的珍贵展品。学生们通过观看展品和参观展览,深入了解了潮州的传统工艺、宗教信仰以及历史文化的演变。这次参观让学生们对于中华文明的发展有了更直观和深刻的认识。



韩文公祠 Hanwengong Shrine


Hanwengong Shrine is a monumental building to pay tribute to Han Yu. Students toured the interior of the shrine, soaking up the atmosphere of the ancient temple and learning about Han Yu's great contributions to Chinese culture as a great literary scholarwho promote the idea of "caring" They were fascinated by Han Yu's personal charisma and developed a deeper interest in Chinese literature and the thought of caring.

韩文公祠,这是一座供奉着韩愈的纪念性建筑。学生们参观了祠堂内部,感受着古老的庙宇氛围,并了解了韩愈作为一位推从“仁爱”思想的伟大文学家对中国文化做出的巨大贡献。他们被韩愈的风采所吸引,对中国文学以及“仁爱”思想也产生了更深的兴趣。



百师园 Baishi Garden


We have came to Baishi Garden to pay more attention to the non-heritage culture with caring heart. Under the guidance of experts, students independently made red peach kuey teow, learned the skills of traditional dumplings and the art of bead embroidery. With this hands-on experience, the children felt the charm of Chinese traditional handicrafts, deepened their respect for and understanding of traditional handicrafts, and became more cherish the intangible cultural heritage.

来到百师园,以仁爱之心关爱非遗文化。在专家们的引导下,学生们独立制作了红桃粿,学习了传统粽子的技巧和珠绣的艺术。这次亲身体验,孩子们不仅感受到了传统手工艺的魅力,还加深了对传统手工艺的关爱和尊重,更加珍视和保护非物质文化遗产。



凤凰单丛茶博物馆 Tea Museum


Exploring the tea culture is not only about recognizing and understanding the tea, but also about fully comprehending the meaning of respect, benevolence, peace and gratitude, which are behind the tea. Phoenix Single Fir Tea Museum, a place full of tea culture atmosphere. Students appreciated the excellence of Chaozhou tea culture by visiting the exhibition, enjoying the tea art performance and experiencing the whole process of tea picking and tea making.

探索茶文化,不仅要认识茶、了解茶,更要领悟茶背后隐藏的为人之道——尊重、仁爱、平和、感恩。凤凰单丛枞茶博物馆,这是一个充满茶文化氛围的地方。学生们通过参观展览,欣赏了茶艺表演和亲身体验采茶制茶的全过程,领略到潮州茶文化的卓越之处

This time, we went to Chaozhou, a place with long history and rich culture. We were lucky enough to experience the essence of Chaozhou's non-heritage culture, such as bead embroidery and tea ceremony. This enabled me to develop a strong interest in Chaozhou culture and recognize the differences with the Guangzhou culture. Of course, the food of Chaozhou is also very unforgettable, especially the marinated goose with excellent taste. Most importantly, the teachers and students in this field trip were all very friendly, which made me feel very happy!

It was an amazing trip, each stop was meticulously arranged by the teachers so that I didn't feel boring at all. What impressed me most was that during the study of the Guangji Bridge, the teachers gave us a lot of information about it, and every detail made me surprised at the marvelous craftsmanship of the Guangji Bridge. I still remember that it is made up of 24 pavilions and 18 boats. In addition, the culinary experience at the end made the trip even better and leave me with more favorable memories.

At first, I thought it would be a boring journey where we could only passively listen to the lectures, but it turned out to be completely beyond my expectation. Not only did we have the opportunity to experience a variety of non-heritage activities, but we also got to taste various kinds of delicious food. What was even more surprising was that during the lectures, the teachers also skillfully used short stories to help us better understand. The whole process of field trip was full of joy and knowledge at the same time!

During this field trip, we not only visited a tea plantation, but also experienced the making process of bead embroidery and tred peach kuey teow with our own hands. We also had the chance to taste Chaozhou's famous food and visit architecture in the ancient city of Chaozhou. These activities brought us closer to the culture of Chaozhou and gave us a deeper understanding of the theme we chose for our unit inquiry project. This field trip has provided us with knowledge, and gave us a better understanding of the culture and history of this place.

I am very grateful to the school for giving us this field trip opportunity to explore in depth the topics we have chosen for our unit inquiry project. Through various activities such as visiting a tea plantation, learning about bead embroidery and exploring the famous architecture, we have expanded our horizon and gained a deeper understanding of the Chaozhou culture. The knowledge we accumulated and the information we gathered during our field trip also enabled us to better complete our unit inquiry project.

起初我预想这会是一段枯燥乏味、只能被动听讲解的探究旅程,但结果却完全出乎我的意料。我们不仅有机会亲身体验各种非遗活动,还尝遍了各种潮州美食。更令人惊喜的是,在讲解的过程中,老师还会巧妙地运用小故事来帮助我们更好地理解知识。整个探究过程既充满了快乐,又干货满满!

Through this Chaozhou field trip, students broadened their horizons and learned about the “caring” culture of Chaozhou. The field trip encourages students to engage in thoughtful exploration and collaborative negotiation in real-life situations. It not only allows students to experience the rich and long-lasting Chinese culture, but also develops their respect and appreciation for traditional culture. Such a field trip learning experience will provide valuable nourishment and inspiration for their learning and growth.


通过这次潮州探究课程的学习,学生们开阔了眼界,了解了潮州丰富多彩的文化。外出探究活动鼓励学生在真实的情境中进行思考探索,合作协商,这不仅让学生们亲身感受了中华文化的博大精深,源远流长,还培养了他们对传统文化的尊重和鉴赏能力。样的实地学习体验无疑将为他们的成长提供宝贵的养分和启发。
