Hong Kong Physics experts come to ASJ to provide counselling
In order to focus on the development of students' core physics literacy, to improve the relevance and efficiency of students' pre-test review for the Physics SBA, and to optimise the preparation strategies, on 9-11 October 2023, ASJ invited Mr. Luk Puk-ko, an expert in the subject of Physics from Hong Kong, to conduct a training session for high school students on the Physics SBA and the subject.
Mr Luk has over 20 years of teaching experience in Hong Kong and is a reader for the Hong Kong Physics Public Examination. He is very familiar with the Physics DSE curriculum and examination papers. In this training session, he has made a comprehensive analysis of the examination questions, distribution of question types, key points and marking criteria to enhance students' preparation for the Physics SBA and DSE exams.
In the senior secondary lectures, Mr Luk Puk-ko explained in detail the assessment of DSE Physics subject and other knowledge, starting from typical examples of problems and talking about the key points and easy-to-error points in the assessment.
Mr Luk explains the assessment requirements for Physics at DSE.
Students benefited from Mr Luk's in-depth explanations, which gave them a better understanding of the difficulty and requirements of the DSE exams, and a clearer understanding of the preparation for the exams, which will help students to prepare for the future public exams.

After the lecture, Mr Luk also conducted a three-day subject training for the Physics students in our G12 fresh graduating class, providing targeted additions and enhancements to the difficult points of the DSE Physics subject, helping the students to improve their examination skills and strategies, which will be conducive to achieving better results for the students.
G12 Fresh Graduating Class‘s Student Specialised Training Course
G12 Mei:
Mr Luk gave us these three days of class, with the DSE exam as the focus of the lecture, the lecture is clear, serious and responsible, and will be rigorous and patient for us to answer our questions, involving a wide range of materials in the class. The classroom atmosphere is very good, always combining the lecture material with real life, so that we can have a deeper understanding of the knowledge points, such as electromagnetic applications in the headset and microphone can actually be converted to each other, and also taught us a few awesome formulas mnemonics. It greatly improved our confidence in physics public exams.

G12 Huang:
We felt greatly benefited from this lesson observation. In Mr Lu's lectures, he visualised and concretised the abstract knowledge so that we could understand the knowledge more intuitively and ignited our enthusiasm for learning. At the same time, he also focuses on the students' status in class, so that we can continuously improve ourselves in class. Mr Luk teaches in a vivid and imaginative way, making it easier for us to understand the knowledge. It makes me feel able to understand and confident to do well in SBA of Physics.I believe that through Mr Lu's detailed explanation, all G12 students who have taken Physics can finally achieve excellent results in SBA of Physics.Thank you very much for Mr Luk's selfless help.
Physics Teacher Mr Yu:
I benefited a lot from Mr Luk's training. Through his teaching, I learnt knowledge and teaching skills that I could not learn from textbooks, and got a clearer understanding of the marking scheme of DSE examination, which provides a lot of references for subsequent teaching. He introduced in detail the types of questions and answering techniques of DSE Physics, the assessment points of SBA and the two difficult knowledge points of Mechanics and Electromagnetism. His easy-to-understand explanations, combined with life examples, impressed the students with great results. Thanks to Mr Lu for his selfless help.
Dr Yeung, Physics subject teacher:
Mr Luk from Hong Kong met face-to-face with ASJ's Physics elective students, analysed the HKDSE Physics subject general syllabus and key points layer by layer, and provided valuable advice on SBA construction and assessment. Compared to listening online, this offline exchange provided us with the opportunity to communicate in person, which enabled me to have a better understanding of the marking scheme of the HKDSE assessment. In particular, Mr Luk provided us with pertinent and practical advice on SBA student assessment and shared his experimental assessment scheme, which is of great benefit to the construction of our subject.
Science Team Leader Mr Toni:
I was impressed by Mr Luk's in-depth teaching methods in explaining the two key topics of mechanics and electromagnetism. He not only imparted theoretical knowledge, but also used life-like examples so that students could intuitively understand abstract physics concepts in class. He focused on developing students' problem-solving skills and logical thinking, guiding them to think and explore independently. Through his teaching, students not only mastered the skills of answering questions, but also developed an interest and love for physical science. I believe this inspiring teaching method will have a profound impact on their learning and future development. I would like to thank Mr Luk for his professional guidance and selfless dedication.
In order to enhance students' learning and help them achieve success, ASJ will strengthen teacher training while inviting more experienced experts in their disciplines to the school to provide continuous support for the learning of ASJ students and help them climb to the top of the academic ladder!
