University visits are an important part of students' career planning. As one of the first DSE schools in the Mainland, ASJ organised the "Hong Kong Study Tour - Famous Schools Open Day" for secondary school students to help them define their study goals and broaden their knowledge of Hong Kong's colleges and universities.
On 28 October 2023, during the harvest season, ASJ Secondary students travelled to Hong Kong to participate in the University of Hong Kong's Information Day to deepen their understanding of the requirements for admission to the University of Hong Kong (HKU), through first-hand experience of visiting the campus, attending lectures, and consulting and exchanging views. The students were able to deepen their understanding of entering the University of Hong Kong and the requirements of various disciplines through first-hand experience of visiting the campus and attending lectures and counselling sessions.
The day was the HKU Undergraduate Admission Information Day. Through its admission seminar, ASJ students learnt in detail about HKU's programme features, study life and career development, and gained a deeper understanding of their future university life. In addition, HKU faculty members also carefully analysed issues of concern to students, such as updates on admission requirements, course credits and admission scholarships. A Q&A session was set up in the seminar, in which students asked questions to clarify their thoughts and make the best preparation for their future choice of major.
Afterwards, the students were divided into Arts, Science and Business groups according to their individual requirements and went to different halls to listen to the sharing. The business seminar started with a question, asking students a simple yet complex question - what is economy? In the process, the students were asked to analyse the investment value and potential risks of Bitcoin as an example, which stimulated them to think deeply about finance. Afterwards, the subject was analysed in detail and the admission criteria for the Hong Kong Joint University Programmes Admissions System (JUPAS) were announced.
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is the oldest institution of higher education in Hong Kong. As Asia's international university, the University of Hong Kong exerts its influence through internationalisation, innovation and interdisciplinarity; attracts and nurtures global talent through research excellence, teaching excellence, and the transfer of knowledge and technology; and contributes to the advancement of society through its global engagement, its regional presence, and its close ties with Mainland China.
Visiting HKU's Undergraduate Admissions Information Day was an unforgettable experience. The campus, with its pleasant environment and state-of-the-art facilities, demonstrates its high level of teaching and research conditions. I was impressed by the rich academic resources and diverse cultural atmosphere of the University.
The Open Day was full of diverse activities, including visiting laboratories, listening to lectures and taking part in interactive experiences. When interacting with teachers and seniors, I felt their enthusiasm and professionalism. The visit made me long for the University of Hong Kong, and I look forward to the opportunity to be a part of the University and receive excellent higher education.
I was happy to be able to visit the University of Hong Kong (HKU) with ASJ students. HKU is situated in the scenic Western District of Hong Kong Island, surrounded by lush green mountains and the turquoise ocean. The campus is dotted with lush greenery, lakes and gardens, giving it a sense of tranquillity and comfort.
The facilities of the University of Hong Kong are very advanced. During the visit, I saw modern classrooms, laboratories and libraries. Various advanced research equipment and technologies gave me a deeper understanding of the teaching and research level of the university.
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) showcases rich academic resources and a diverse cultural atmosphere. I visited the university's library, which houses a large collection of academic literature and research materials, enabling students to make full use of these resources for learning and exploration. In addition, the University actively promotes internationalisation and diversity, providing students with a wide range of opportunities for exchange and collaboration.
Finally, I had an exchange with the staff and students of the University of Hong Kong. They gave me a warm reception and were willing to share their learning and research experiences. I was inspired by their professionalism and pursuit of knowledge.
Overall, the visit to the Open Day of the University of Hong Kong has made me yearn for this institution of learning. I was attracted by its favourable academic atmosphere, excellent teaching facilities and rich academic resources, and I look forward to the opportunity to become a member of this academic hall of fame.
During the "Hong Kong Study Tour Open Day" to The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and The University of Hong Kong, ASJ students were inspired by the real-life research scenarios, novel technology concepts and open atmosphere of the universities through going out of the campus.
