In November, ISA Liwan continues to care the health of the community as the campus celebrated the Sports Day with a youthful and energetic vibe. At ISA Liwan School, we not only focus on the academic performance of our students, but also the education and development of our students in sports, arts, and community education, with sports and academics on equal footing, we actively provide our students with more learning opportunities outside of the classroom.

来自南非,精通南非荷兰语和英语。

毕业于Arizona大学,获得教育学士学位。

拥有南非Nelson Mandela大学的体育管理文凭。

曾在南非从事学校体育协调和教练工作,5年前他来到中国,一直负责中小学以及高中的体育教学工作。

Rosseau Prinsloo

  • Rosseau was born in South Africa and he speaks Afrikaans and English.

  • He holds a Bachelors of Education from the University of Arizona and a Diploma in Sport Management from the Nelson Mandela University in South Africa.

  • He specialized in school Sport Coordination and coaching in South Africa.

  • Besides, he moved to Guangzhou 5 years ago, and then specializes in primary and junior high PE teaching.

Enda Yu

小学(国际方向)体育教师

毕业于广州体育学院教育专业,专项是游泳和网球。

从事体育教育近10 年,曾在中国、迪拜、澳大利亚组织过各项体育培训。

精通橄榄球、旱地冰球、盖尔式足球、极限飞盘等多项运动。

曾代表中国澳式橄榄球国家队闯进2017 年国际杯前三名。

Enda Yu

PSPE Teacher of International High School

  • Graduated from Guangzhou Sports University, majoring in swimming and tennis.

  • He has been engaged in sports education for nearly 10 years, and organized various sports training in China, Dubai and Australia.

  • He is proficient in many sports such as rugby, floor ball,Gaelic football and ultimate Frisbee.

  • He once represented the Chinese Australian Rules Rugby National Team to participate the competition and reached the top three of the 2017 International Cup.

Rosseau老师告诉我们,在爱莎荔湾学校,国际方向课程设计以IB国际文凭项目为基础框架,其中体育课称作PSPEPersonal, Social, Physical Education)。体育课程除了培养学生体育技能以外,还注重学生的社交教育和个人教育,强调学生对体育运动的自我认知、积极参与,以及与他人的互动和交流。

ISA Liwan School is committed to creating a multicultural, global village-like environment for students to have an excellent learning experience through the concept of whole-person education, which "aims to promote the overall development of students' cognitive and character qualities as well as their self-fulfillment".


Mr. Rosseau told us that at ISA Liwan School, the design of the international curriculum is based on the IB curriculum, where the physical education class is called PSPE (Personal, Social, Physical Education). In addition to cultivating students' sports skills, physical education courses also pay attention to students' social education and personal education, emphasizing students' self -awareness, active participation in sports, and interaction and communication with others.

在IB体育教学理念下,学校体育课程设置丰富全面,注重培养学生的运动技能和兴趣爱好。那么现在学校的体育教学团队是怎么设置的和开设的体育项目有哪些呢?


Enda介绍道:“我们的体育教学团队由多元文化背景的中外籍体育教师构成,希望通过国际化的体育培养框架,在培养学生的基础体能、协调机能与运动科学的知识外,还会为学生提供富多样的体育运动项目,包括游泳击剑网球高尔夫球橄榄球旱地冰球棒球排球等集体项目。

Under the IB philosophy of physical education, the school's physical education programme is rich and comprehensive, focusing on the development of students' sports skills and hobbies. So how does the school's physical education team set up and what are the sports programs offered?


“Our P.E. teaching team consists of Chinese and foreign PE teachers with multicultural backgrounds. We hope that through the international framework of PE training, we can develop students' basic physical fitness, co-ordination and knowledge of sports science, as well as a wide range of sports, including  swimming, fencing, tennis, golf, rugby, roller hockey, baseball and volleyball, etc.”introduced by Enda.

With the concept of whole-person education as the cornerstone of ISA Liwan School, and to fulfill this goal, the school takes the end as the beginning, and connects teaching needs with campus design. Rosseau老师作为外教对这点尤为感同深受,他跟我们分享道:”我们会通过灵活和多样的教学策略,为学生营造开放的全英学习氛围。例如,很多学生在刚开始进入到全英体育课堂时,他们在讨论羽毛球的时候会用badminton ball这个词,那我会跟学生分享在运动专业名词里用Shuttle去指代羽毛球是更贴切和准确的,学生在运动过程就能很生动形象地理解并运用这个单词。“ 


在爱莎荔湾校园里,家长不需要担心学生因为语言基础薄弱而被学习困住了。学校的双语教学体系和个性化教学模式将会高效地帮助学生提升语言能力,过渡到全英教学环境中。

At ISA Liwan, overcoming language barriers is the first step in ensuring an excellent learning experience for students in a fully English-speaking environment.


Mr. Rosseau, as a foreign teacher, was particularly sympathetic to this point, and he told us: "We will try and create an open learning atmosphere for student through flexible and varied teaching strategies. For example, many students use the word badminton ball when discussing badminton at the start of the class, then I will share with them the word shuttle is more appropriate and accurate to refer to badminton ball, so that the students can understand and use the word in a vivid way during the game. "


At ISA Liwan, parents don't need to worry about their students being stuck in their studies due to a weak language foundation. The school's bilingual teaching system and personalized teaching model will efficiently help students improve their language skills and transition into a full English teaching environment.

爱莎荔湾希望营造一个富有多元文化跨文化视野的体育教学氛围,让学生在学习体育知识和技能的过程中,培养团队协作、公平竞争、自我管理、情感控制、社交技能、领导力、身体健康和多元文化意识等一系列重要价值观和生活技能。


Enda老师提到他在给小学的学生上橄榄球的单元课程时,会引入了毛利战舞这一源自新西兰的文化元素,让学生了解毛利文化的独特之处,同时提高他们的文化敏感度。这不仅让学生感受到国际化的氛围,也让学生更好地理解不同文化间的相似与不同,更全面地认识世界。


爱莎荔湾提供多元的体育运动项目不仅可以帮助学生提高运动能力、发现运动兴趣,也可以成为拓展学生国际视野的窗口

此外,在IB教学里强调学科的关联性,强调知识的融会贯通和应用,这两点在爱莎荔湾的体育课上也得到了很好的呈现。


Rosseau老师回顾了近期的跨学科项目探究,学生在生物课统计不同食物(如麦当劳汉堡或学校食堂的食物)的热量。上体育课时,他们参加了不同的运动项目,比如跑步、羽毛球和游泳,来计算这些运动消耗的热量。最后,他们制作一张海报,展示需要跑多长时间、游多长时间或打羽毛球多久才能消耗掉一份麦当劳汉堡或学校食堂的食物所含的热量。学生们通过这次跨学科的主题探究课里,了解到体育和生物的联系,形成了在不同学科中建立联系的意识,培养学生的综合素养。

不仅在体育课程里,学校的IB项目教学对跨学科的联系,运动与生活的联系,体育技能与个人成长的联系。我们希望学生能够打破学科界限将探究向纵深发展重视学生的体验、实践和展示

ISA Liwan hopes to create a physical education atmosphere that is rich in multiculturalism and cross-cultural perspectives, so that students can develop a range of important values and life skills such as teamwork, fair play, self-management, emotional control, social skills, leadership, physical fitness, and multicultural awareness in the process of acquiring physical education knowledge and skills.


Mr. Enda mentioned that when he teaches Rugby to primary school students, he introduces the Kiwi Haka, a cultural element originated from New Zealand, so the students can understand the uniqueness of the Haka culture and at the same time enhance their cultural sensitivity. This not only allows students to feel the international atmosphere, but also enables them to better understand the similarities and differences between different cultures and to know the world in a more comprehensive way.


The diversified sports programmes offered by ISA Liwan not only help students to improve their athletic ability and discover their interest in sports, but also serve as a window to broaden their international horizons.


In addition, the emphasis on the relevance of subjects and the integration and application of knowledge in IB teaching is also been well presented in the physical education lessons at ISA Liwan.


Mr. Rosseau reviewed a recent interdisciplinary project inquiry in which students counted calories from different foods (such as McDonald's burgers or food from the school cafeteria) in biology class. For Physical Education, they participated in different sports, such as running, badminton, and swimming, to count the calories burned in those sports. Finally, they create a poster showing how long they need to run, swim or play badminton to burn off the calories contained in a McDonald's burger or food from the school canteen. Through this cross-curricular thematic inquiry lesson, students learnt about the links between PE and Biology, developed a sense of making connections across different disciplines, and fostered a holistic approach to literacy.

Not only in the physical education, the school's IB curriculum teaches about interdisciplinary connections, the connection between sport and life, and the connection between physical skills and personal growth. We want students to break down disciplinary boundaries, to take deeper inquiry, and to value student experience, practice, and presentation.

在采访的最后,我们还向两位老师咨询了现在家长们很关心的问题:如何引导不好”动“的孩子从“小屏幕”拉回“大世界”。两位老师纷纷表示理解家长的忧虑,这也是他们在真实课堂里遇到的挑战。


Rosseau老师对此分享了自己的经历,他的祖国南非拥有着浓厚的体育文化,5岁起他开始接触橄榄球运动,一直保持练习,不断追求球技的提升,目前他还是广州山羊美式橄榄球队的成员。生命不息,运动不止,他希望自己可以做IB终身学习理念的践行者。此外,在运动过程中他认识了许多与他志同道合的朋友,所以他特别希望向学生们传递他对体育的热爱,努力营造校园体育文化,让学生们也能拥有这样快乐的运动体验。

At the end of the interview, we also consulted with two teachers about the current concern of parents: how to guide children who keep their heads down at "small screen" back to the "real world". Both teachers said they understood parents' concerns and that this was a challenge they encountered in real classrooms.


Mr. Rosseau shared his own experience. He came from South Africa, a country with thick sports culture, and he started to play rugby at the age of 5. He has been practising and pursuing the improvement of his skills, and now is currently a member of the Guangzhou RAMS team. He hopes he can be a practitioner under IB's lifelong learning concept. In addition, he has met many like-minded friends in the process of sports, so he especially hopes to pass on his love of sports to students, and endeavor to create a sports culture on campus, so students can also have such a happy sports experience.

两位老师对学生不好”动“的问题保持乐观态度,他们相信通过营造校园体育文化创造愉悦的运动体验,鼓励学生参与其中,学生就很难抵挡体育运动的魅力。

Mr. Enda said that he and his team are committed to providing a diverse and inclusive PE programme that encourages students to be active. “For students who do not enjoy sports, we encourage them to participate in sports activities as referees or facilitators to motivate them through experience. Like one of our student from EY, who cried when he entered the Learners Pool entrance at the beginning, we encourage our students to try to pick up toys on the shore, sprinkle little drops of water on him from time to time, and offered enough patience and companionship, he slowly became willing to walk from the shore to the water's edge, and is now willing to get into the water and try it out."


Both teachers are optimistic about the problem of students who are not willing to "move". They believed that by creating a sporting culture in schools, creating enjoyable sporting experiences, and encouraging students to participate in them, it would be hard for students to resist the charm of sports.
