11月29日,AIC举办了一场备受期待的TOK Café为DP2的学生提供了一个知识交流和合作的空间。这一活动被设想为AIC的新传统的开端,专门为目前正在撰写知识论TOK论文的DP2学生提供了一个激发灵感、合作共进的环境。

On the 29th of November, the AIC staff room became a space for knowledge exchange and collaboration, hosting the much-anticipated DP2 TOK Café. This event envisioned as the beginning of a new tradition at AIC, was specifically organized to provide a stimulating and collaborative environment for our DP2 students who are currently working on their Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essays.  



TOK知识论的论文是国际文凭(IB)课程的重要组成部分,挑战学生反思知识的本质以及我们如何理解这个世界。这项占最终TOK评估67%的评估组成部分要求学生探讨两个知识领域AOKs,借助每个AOK的多样性例子并建立论点,反映对知识本质的深刻理解。


在这一天,职员休息室被重新构想成TOK Café的场地。这成为一个学生与不同知识领域AOKs的学科专家会面,讨论他们的知识主张、例证和论点的空间。我们希望这种互动能够提供宝贵的见解和观点,丰富学生的论文,拓宽他们的视野。为增添咖啡馆的魅力,我们的校长Chris亲自扮演了内部咖啡师的角色。他带着热情的微笑,娴熟地为大家提供热咖啡和热巧克力,增强了我们咖啡馆温馨而诱人的氛围。


The TOK essay is a vital component of the IB curriculum and challenges students to reflect on the nature of knowledge and how we come to understand the world. This assessment component, constituting 67% of the final TOK assessment, requires students to explore two Areas of Knowledge (AOKs), drawing upon diverse examples from each AOK and building arguments that reflect a deep understanding of the nature of knowledge.


On this day, the staff room was reimagined as the setting for the TOK Café. It became a space where students met with subject experts from the different Areas of Knowledge (AOKs) to discuss their knowledge claims, examples, and arguments. We hoped this interaction would provide invaluable insights and perspectives, enriching the students' essays and broadening their horizons. Adding to the café's charm, Chris, our Head of School, donned the hat of an in-house barista. With a welcoming smile, he skillfully served hot cups of coffee and hot chocolate, enhancing the warm and inviting atmosphere of our café. 



选择咖啡馆环境的模式是经过慎重考虑的,具有象征意义。这代表了从传统学术环境转变为更为轻松但仍具智力刺激的环境。这种氛围呼应着这样一种信念,即学习和批判性思维不仅仅局限于教科书和评估,而是与日常对话和经历密不可分。TOK Café不仅仅代表一种学术锻炼,它体现了IB的精神以及我们学校致力于培养全面、具有批判性思维的个体的承诺。我们希望我们的学生即使在高中毕业后也能与朋友、家人和未来的同事进行这样的“TOK聊天”。


The choice of a café setting is deliberate and symbolically significant. It represents a shift from the conventional academic setting to a more relaxed yet intellectually stimulating environment. This ambiance echoes the belief that learning and critical thinking are not confined to textbooks and assessments but integral to everyday conversations and experiences. The TOK Café represents more than just an academic exercise. It embodies the ethos of the IB and our school's dedication to developing well-rounded, critically-minded individuals. We hope our students can have these "TOK chats" with their friends, family, and future colleagues even after they have graduated high school.




A Toast to Intellectual Growth


在TOK Café的活动期间我们见证了学生们的热情讨论和对知识的探究,这让我们深刻体会到了教育的转变力量。因此,让我们为我们的DP2学生举杯致敬,向他们对知识不懈的追求以及前方启明之旅致以敬意。


Witnessing the enthusiastic discussions and the depth of inquiry during the TOK Café, we are reminded of the transformative power of education. Here's to our DP2 students, their relentless pursuit of knowledge, and the enlightening journey ahead.
