Reflections

Xin Yan:

This trip to the ASJ Sister Schools Quadrangular Tournament brought me many new experiences and insights. First of all, as a student who used to live and play in Hong Kong, it brought me a lot of different feelings to revisit my hometown and play with teams from three other schools on the Hong Kong campus.

In this tournament, I firstly realized that I have a lot of deficiencies, both in terms of physical fitness and technical skills, which I need to learn from the other players with an open mind. Although I didn't win the championship in this tournament, I could have the opportunity to communicate and learn from the No.1 team in Kwun Tong, which gave me a new understanding of basketball, for example, I need to enhance the communication with my teammates and play more efficiently. I hope to achieve better results in the next tournament and would like to thank Principal Mr. Tam Yat Yuk, Chief Inspector Martin Lai and Principal Mr. Jessica Yan as well as the other three schools for their support in allowing me to have this exchange opportunity.

Chan Pin Yuen:

This trip to Hong Kong for a friendly match was a bit of a bumpy ride. We left Guangzhou early in the morning and when we arrived at the venue, it was only 15 minutes before the match started, so we had very little time to prepare. During the first game, our teammates fought hard on the field and were all working hard to win the game. Although we unfortunately lost the game in the end, none of our teammates were affected by it, but instead, they were more serious during the second game. During the game, we finished scoring and defending over and over again, and finally won the game.

On the second day, we summarized the experience of the previous day and arrived at the game venue an hour earlier and warmed up. The third game began, we and the opposite side of the fight back and forth, but the basket seems to have a lid, shot the ball out again and again bounced out, resulting in our score gap is getting bigger and bigger, the last quarter, we implemented a full-court press tactics, in my teammates and I as a brick wall like defense, the opposite side of the consecutive loss of a number of balls, so that the gap between the scores slowly narrowed, although the final regret with the Although we were sorry to lose the victory in the end, we learned a lot from it.

In the fourth game, because it was the last game of this friendly match, in order to enhance the players' experience, we sent all the players who had played less in this tournament, and they played their own advantages and good performance on the field, and finally won the game. Through these games, we found our respective advantages and shortcomings, and in the future games, we should play our advantages and strengthen our deficiencies even more, in the future games, we must be more focused on the field of play, calm our mind, prepare in advance, and go all out.

In October 2023, ASJ has formed a sister school relationship with 12 primary and secondary schools in Hong Kong, including Pui Ching Middle School, Baptist Wing Lung Middle School, Baptist Lui Ming Choi Middle School and Maryknoll Middle School. Our school will actively discuss with the Hong Kong sister schools in the areas of exchange of teachers and students, exchange of teaching systems, sharing of teaching resources and talent cultivation, etc., so as to jointly create an internationalized education platform for students and enhance the understanding and friendship between teachers and students of the two places. This exchange activity allows the students of the four schools to enhance mutual understanding and friendship in the event exchange, so that each other can learn from each other's strengths and weaknesses, and make progress together.

In the future, our school will continue to actively carry out academic exchanges and cooperation among sister schools in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and promote the interaction and integration of young people from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in various aspects such as curricula, sports, science and technology, arts, etc., so as to positively contribute to the synergistic development of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Greater Bay Area.
