Teaching Sharing Workshop
Primary School English Teaching and Research Meeting of Xin Tang Town
On February 25, 2022, a teaching sharing workshop, also named Primary School English Teaching and Research Meeting of Xin Tang Town, was carried out at FCG, and the whole event was a complete success.
Early in the morning on the 25th, MS. Liu Jinyi along with a group of thirty primary school English teachers from Xin Tang came to FCG to participate in a special English teaching and sharing event.
Chris and Vicky jointly taught a demonstration class on the theme of "English Poetry". Since the English language class in the primary school of FCG is tiered, students in this class are from different grades, including the second, fourth and fifth grades.

The class began with activating students’ prior knowledge about descriptive language- adjectives through talking about pictures, then proceeded to teach an important genre feature of poetry-rhyming while learning and appreciating a poem. The students worked together in small groups to complete a series of activities such as reading poems, finding adjectives, and rhyming words, and finally creating an English poem in their group. The whole teaching process flowed like a smooth stream down a hill, efficiently and effectively. In-class atmosphere was full of joy, it not only has achieved the teaching goals, but also provided the students and the teachers on-site with a great experience. This event has demonstrated highly qualified English teaching at FCG, and the effectiveness of co-teaching. It has also promoted learning and sharing across different schools.
Later on, Chris and Vicky also shared the distinctive features of FCG primary school English curriculum, such as phonics, guided reading, graded reading, reading and writing teaching strategies, etc. The sharing session was splendid, an academic feast.
