PYP Exhibition 小学毕业展 | 思考、探究如何推动世界可持续发展

"In the students' final year of the PYP, which occurs in some schools at age 10–11 and others at age 11–12, students are required to engage in a collaborative, transdisciplinary inquiry process that involves them in identifying, investigating and offering solutions to real-life issues or problems. The central idea selected must be of sufficient scope and significance to warrant a detailed investigation by all students."

“国际文凭小学项目最后一年(根据不同学校可能在学生10-11岁或11-12岁期间),学生需要参与一个跨学科的探究式合作项目,针对目前现实社会中的现象或难题,通过了解和调研设计出有效的解决方案。学生在选择研究方向时,核心概念(central idea)必须具有一定的广度和意义,以确保学生均能进行细致且有深度的探究”。

On 18-19 May 2022, ISA Science City Grade 5 students successfully held their PYP Exhibition under the transdisciplinary theme "How we express ourselves". The central idea for the PYP exhibition was "Curating learning for an audience enables people to express their learning." 

2022年5月18-19日,广州科学城爱莎外籍人员子女学校五年级的学生成功举办了以“我们如何表达自己”为跨学科主题的小学毕业展(PYP Exhibition)。毕业展的核心概念为“通过策划学习,向观众表达学生的学习成果。”。 



The students also unpacked the central idea

through the below lines of inquiry: 

学生们通过以下探究思路来进一步深化核心概念:

  • How do we communicate and express our learning to an audience?

    我们如何向听众交流和表达所学

  • Ways in which people can express their learning

    人们可以表达其所学的方式

  • Collaborating to curate our learning as a form of expression

    合作策划我们的学习,并将其作为一种表达形式







During the PYP Exhibition, students conduct an in-depth inquiry into the world's real-life issues or relevant and meaningful problems. At the end of the research, students host an exhibition in the school's community to share their findings and actions. Our Grade 5 students chose their real-life issue and topic from the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). 

筹备小学毕业展期间,学生对世界上现存的现实问题或相关的有意义的话题进行了深入的调查,并在研究项目结束时,在老师的引导下举办了毕业成果展,向家长、员工及其它年级学生分享他们的发现与实践过程。此次毕业展,学校5年级的学生从17个联合国可持续发展目标(SDGs)中选择了他们倾向研究的议题以及涉及到的现实生活问题。

Throughout the eight weeks, students were guided by their teachers and a staff mentor. The most important part of this journey was for the students to find their voice, seek out the world, and make connections that will impact their opinions and ideas. Our goal, of course, was to take meaningful action. Therefore, students worked collaboratively in pairs and used their research skills to gather information, collect and analyse data, and use various media and forms of expression to communicate what they had discovered during the project to the audience.  

在整整八周的时间里,学生在主班老师和一位导师的指导下完成调研。这一过程中最重要的意义是让学生找到并梳理内心的想法,探寻世界真理并建立能够通过“发声”影响更多人的渠道,从而进一步达成带动他人付诸行动的目标。因此,学生们两两合作,利用各种研究技能收集信息、分析数据,并使用多种媒体和表达形式来向观众传达他们在项目中的发现与想法。

meaningful action during the exhibition:

  • One group produced an ISA Science City Girl's Power book to raise awareness for gender equality in education

    一个小组制作了《爱莎科学城女孩的力量》一书,以提高对教育中性别平等的认识

  • One group made a dolphin sculpture by using recycling materials to show how plastic harms the ocean creatures' survival

    一个小组利用回收材料制作了一个海豚雕塑,以此展示塑料对海洋生物生存产生的危害

  • One group wrote letters to politicians in Australia urging them to act against climate change

    一个小组给澳大利亚的政治家写信,敦促他们对气候变化采取行动

  • One group created a video to share information about plastic pollution

    一个小组制作了一个视频来分享关于塑料污染的信息

  • One group taught students how to be more hygienic in the washroom

    一个小组教学生如何在洗手间中做到更卫生

  • One group demonstrating to the ISA Science City's school community how to make organic soap and bug repellent that helps save the environment

    一个小组向爱莎科学城社区展示了如何制作有助于保护环境的有机肥皂和驱虫剂

  • One group made a pamphlet about how to compost, along with giving out soil and seeds

    一个小组制作了一本关于如何堆肥的小册子,同时还发放了土壤和种子

  • One group organized a donation event in their community

    一个小组在他们生活的社区里组织了一次捐赠活动

  • One group did a beach and community clean up, preventing trash from going into the oceans

    一个小组进行了海滩及周边社区清理,防止垃圾进入海洋

    Three groups set up donation booths to collect goods to support those in need in the rural area, and they did make it happen

    三个小组设立了捐赠摊位,收集物品以支持农村地区有需要的人,最终成功实现目标

  • Several groups set up slum areas for the audience to have an authentic environment of what poverty looks like

    有几个小组在展示中设立了“贫民区”,让观众得以在一个相对真实的环境中设身处地地了解贫困的处境


 


The exhibition also included moving and still images, interactive games, quizzes, displays of their research work, and oral presentations. 

展览还包括动态和静态图像、互动游戏、测验,研究报告、以及口头演示。
