Recently, teachers from the Affiliated School of Jinan University for Hong Kong and Macao Students received the news that a 7-year-old innocent and lively girl acted in a movie.
This girl starred in "In Search of Lost Time" directed by Chinese Hong Kong director Er Dongsheng, and her name is Luo Yichun, a G2 student from ASJ.
"In Search of Lost Time" has been released for two weeks, and many audiences used the word "smart" to describe her. The Hong Kong girl, who acted in the film that illustrated the history of the PRC, showed her confidence and excellence to the world. Now she is chasing her dream step by step.
"It's my honour to act in this movie"
Although Lori is small, she is already an "expert actress" with 4 years of acting experience. The was her first leading role, and she regarded it as a unique experience.
Firstly, she was shocked by the environment. This was the first time she come to Inner Mongolia, and she experienced the vastness of the grasslands and the magic of nature. "I saw a lot of animals. There are wolves, cows, horses, sheep, and many mushrooms that I like on the grassland! I also learned to ride horses!"
Moreover, the family-like atmosphere of the crew made her relieve the anxiety of being away from home. Each time before the official shooting, the crew would take her to her place and get familiar with the story, so that she could gradually immerse herself in the character. She showed the most real feelings. "My performance is very natural, and I think every scene is true. and the performances of other leading actors also make me feel that the story really happened before." After the filming, Lori still feels that the whole cast is a big family, and the leading actors are her relatives.
Lori has been filming in the Chinese Mainland for a long time. This was the first time she cooperated with a Hong Kong director, and Director Er gave her a great sense of familiarity. She thought that Director Er was a good judge of talent. "I feel that both Hong Kong directors and mainland directors are very good, but mainland directors may like the outgoing children. I am relatively quiet, and Director Er may have chosen me for this reason! Director Er taught me how to do it meticulously and praised me. He is the most serious director!”

The story happened in the late 1950s when the PRC suffered severe natural disasters. Many orphans in the south faced a crisis of nutritional deficiencies. Therefore, the party committee and the government of Inner Mongolia took the initiative to adopt nearly 3,000 orphans. Although Lori was small, she had a unique feeling about this history. This history of the Republic of China which was full of love and gratitude deserves to be remembered by all.
As a student from Hong Kong, Lori expressed that she was lucky to be able to experience family affection through acting. Family affection can be the blood relationship, or the family love between Han and Mongolia. When she watched this work on the big screen, she felt that this work would also touch the audience, and then more and more people would know the beautiful history of the Chinese nation. It symbolizes the determination of the Chinese nations to endure hardships together and the great love of Chinese nations.
"Victory belongs to the most persevering"
Her experience in filming has made her cheerful and confident. She met many strangers during acting, and she gradually learned how to speak in front of the public. A few days ago, she took part in the Beijing International Film Festival and the Weibo Movie Night. She was not afraid of the expectant eyes of the audience and showed herself generously.
The memory of acting was very valuable for her. She specifically mentioned a sandstorm scene. The sandstorm set by the crew could be "comparable" to the sandstorm that occurred in real life. However, affected by other factors, the actors needed to experience this "sandstorm" over and over again, which was even more "cruel". "But I persevered! A scene usually takes 20 to 30 minutes to shoot. I will perform it many times until I get the best performance and the director is satisfied." Filming has cultivated her perseverance and optimistic spirit. She believes that victory belongs to the most persevering.

Studying is as important as filming to Lori. Though she feels a bit stressed dealing with filming and studying at the same time, she does not think the pressure is bad – it can enhance motivation, concentration and enjoyment. During filming, she strengthened her memory by reciting script lines or articles from textbooks, therefore, Lori has become a "time management expert".

The child was brought to this world by me, so as a parent, I must prepare well. After having a child, I devote myself to accompanying and educating my child.
IB encourages whole-person education, and I think that if the child had a desire to perform, he or she should be given a space to perform. It became my regret that I couldn't perform on stage because of few opportunities when I was a child; I don't want Lori to regret it, so I hope I can help her by giving her more opportunities. Now Lori is enjoying acting, and I am very happy for her as she finds her direction at this age and continues to work hard.
I hope that the children grow up in a relaxed environment and have a happy childhood. Personally, I don't want my child to become a "straight A student" in a forced study environment. Physical and mental health and a sound personality are far more important than achievements. Therefore, I choose international schools.
I hope my child can be educated in a fun, relaxed and positive environment so that she can always have motivation and consciousness in learning. Thankfully, Lori is a child with strong receptivity in the study. The self-discipline and self-conscious habits show that she has a strong interest and a great ambition for learning. I sincerely hope that all the students could learn by interest but not force!
I didn't worry much about Lori's studies. Lori was in a very cheerful mood studying at ASJ, and she "returns home with rewards" every day. When I ask her to describe school life, the word she uses most is "playing". I was worried that whether she was studying or playing. But after comparing the learning progress with my friend's children, I realize that Lori learns more! ASJ is very good at educating students through entertainment. In the process of playing, students master the knowledge.
Coordinating and balancing between study and acting is a problem to be solved. As a parent, I am well aware of the importance of studying. No matter what field Lori will engage in, she shall keep learning.
Lori spent most of her time filming during summer vacation which will not affect her study. During filming, I applied for online courses for Lori and she completed online courses after filming every day. Moreover, the online course teaching is more advanced than that of the school, so Lori will not feel unable to catch up when he returns to school after filming. I often communicate with the teachers about Lori's study, and the teacher's feedback is pretty good!
However, the study tasks will be heavier when she moves to a higher grade. Lori has set a small goal for herself to select more meaningful and valuable works! During filming, she will also learn from the teachers' outlines at the same time. As a mother, I will accompany her in study to ensure her learning quality.
I knew many kid actors spend much time in filming but still have great academic performance. This is really awesome. I think that the parents of the kid actors educate them well, and children themselves are also very self-disciplined and excellent! I hope Lori can learn from these elder brothers and sisters and can have great academic performance.

Lori has been studying at ASJ for three weeks! She said that she was delighted with the environment, the homeroom teacher and her classmates. When Lori's classmates knew that her film was released, they went to the cinemas to support her. It can be seen that the children get along very well in school. In particular, the homeroom teacher is very careful. She not only keeps close communication with parents but cares for children meticulously as well. Lori is a little rough in sorting things and she often loses stationeries. The teacher will remind us about her situation, which is very considerate.
▲Lori did a self-introduction at the first day of new semester
I went through a series of research and finally chose ASJ as Lori's school. I think that some schools are relatively too competitive, the test scores and rankings flow in real-time, and the parents give too much force on children. Parents and children are under a lot of pressure. In a stressful environment, children are more likely to get tired of learning! And the family relationship may be destroyed.
I think our family has made the right choice. I realize that this school would be more suitable for Hong Kong children.
First of all, the most attractive thing is there are many directions for further study. The content of ASJ courses is Hong Kong courses, and it provides a pure English teaching environment. In the future, DSE results can be applied to both foreign and domestic universities, which is very advantageous! Moreover, ASJ is an IB accredited school. IB scores are universally recognized, and IB teaching makes children more creative!
In addition, I am very satisfied with the ASJ small-classes teaching. At present, there are two classes in G2, and each class has only 14 students on average. Teachers can fully pay attention to each child and give the child more detailed and personalized guidance and teaching.
In the future, I hope that the school can support her development in acting. ASJ has many ECA courses, I hope the courses can stimulate her artistic potential.
I hope Lori can develop in an all-round way at ASJ and she can be a person that is resolute, honest, generous, kind and knows how to respect others!
