齐心战“疫” | Virtual AIC - Tips for

为配合广州防疫部门的疾控中心和教育局的防疫工作,遵循政府的指导方针, 本周AIC转为线上学习。尽管如此, 任课老师们竭尽所能, 本着“停课不停学”的原则, 运用Teams在线课堂为学生上课。

In order to cooperate with the epidemic prevention work of the Center for Disease Control and the Education Bureau, we actively follow the government's guidelines.  With offline classes suspended, all of our students and teachers went online this week. AIC is using Microsoft's Teams to conduct online classes. Students and teachers had been trained in using Teams so the transition was seamless.

In order to provide a good online learning environment, AIC hereby gives students and parents the following suggestions:



To Sutdents

由于目前的情况,我们都需要过渡到居家网课的学习模式。虽然取得学业成功的一般要素仍然包括努力学习和专注研究,但环境已经发生了改变,并且存在一些新的挑战。学校无法立即对学生的学习、就寝时间和对电子设备进行有效管理。所以,这种经历正在考验我们自我管理的能力技能和自我激励的水平。 


Due to the current circumstances, we have needed to all make a transition to taking our classes online from our homes. While the common components for school success still include hard work and focus on our studies, the environment has changed and there are some new challenges. The school isn’t immediately available to enforce study, bedtimes, and the management of electronic devices, so this experience is putting to test your self-management skills and testing your level of self-motivation. 


网校有一些缺点。例如: 

There are some aspects of online school that serve as a disadvantage. For example: 


  1. 缺乏社交生活——我听过你们中的很多人说,在家呆久了,是有多么的无聊。一位学生告诉我,这可能是第一次有这么多学生对返校学习感到如此地兴奋。我们想念朋友,可能甚至想念老师。

    Lack of a social life – I have heard from many of you about how boring it has been to be stuck at home for so long. One student told me that this might be the first time so many students will be so excited to come back to school. We are missing friends, and possibly, even teachers. 

  2. 与老师接触更少——至少感觉是这样的。现在,你需要通过即时通讯软件或电子邮件联系老师,但这和走进教室获得所需的帮助是不一样的。 

    Less access to teachers - … Or at least it feels that way. Teachers are now just an IM or email away, but it’s not quite the same as being able to go into the classroom and get the help you need.

  3. 缺乏动力——在网校取得成功最重要的个人因素可能是自我激励。你没有朋友和老师督促你完成作业。你没有一个让你学习、睡觉或抛开其他干扰的计划表,而且家里真的有太多让你分心的事情了。你必须为你的学习承担更多的责任。这当然是IB学习者要做的,但这并不容易。 

    Lack of motivation – Probably the most important personal factor for success in an online school is self-motivation. You don’t have friends and teachers pushing you to complete your work. You don’t have a schedule that makes you study or go to bed or put aside other distractions, and there are so many distractions at home. You must take more responsibility for your learning. This, of course, is what IB learners do, but it doesn’t come easy. 

  4. 看电子屏幕时间过长——关于这一点,我已经发出了一封信。我相信你们很多人都感受到盯着笔记本电脑(手机、平板电脑等)几个小时的后果。 

    Too much screen time – I have already sent out a message about this. I am sure many of you are feeling the effect of staring at your laptops (phones, tablets, etc.) for hours at a time. 

  5. 锻炼太少——再加上在学习时需要吃零食(我敢肯定,这样做,我不是唯一的)。 

    Too little exercise – Together with the need to snack while studying (I am sure I am not the only one ;).

Tips and advice for success in Online School 


  1. 制定一个计划表——并坚持下去! 成功的线上学习要求学生建立完成学习任务的一套流程。找一个适合你自己的计划表,你会发现它也能保证你的个人和家庭时间。

    Set a Schedule - and stick to it! Successful online students establish a routine for completing school tasks. Find a schedule that works for you, and you will find it also protects your personal and family time. 


  2. 把网校当成一份工作——在我们受益于可以穿着睡衣上学的同时,一定要把线上课程当成一件需要去准备的事来对待; 吃早餐,洗澡(请洗澡),并确保你有足够的睡眠,以便在上课时能全身心投入。 

    Treat online school like a job – While there is a real benefit to being able to go to school in pajamas, make sure you think of your online classes as something you need to be prepared for; eat breakfast, take showers (please… take showers), and make sure you have slept enough to be fully present during classes. 

  3. 参与和提问——在线上课堂上,你很容易因走神而失去参与课堂的机会。你可能需要通过意志努力来抵制这些。这很重要。在课堂上使用你的视频功能可能会有所帮助,也可以用麦克风回答问题或提问。甚至保持你在课堂的聊天功能中的活跃状态也是有帮助的。它让你保持专注,帮助老师了解到你在集中注意力。 

    Participate and Ask Questions – When in an online class, it can be too easy for your mind to drift away and not participate. It may take an intentional effort for you to fight these urges, but it is important. Using your video during classes may help, as well as going “on mic” to answer/ask questions. Even staying active in the chat functions of your classes is helpful. It keeps you engaged and helps teachers know you are paying attention. 


  4. 管理干扰——家里有太多的干扰把我们的注意力从学习中引开,所以营造一个好的环境在某种程度上为成功创造了机会,这很重要。音乐、视频、游戏、家庭,甚至是床都能在我们应该着重于学业的时候吸引我们的注意力。一定要关掉手机上那些只会在上课时间分散你注意力的通知。

    Manage distractions – Home has so many distractions to draw our attention away from school, that it is important to arrange your environment in a way to give you the best chance at success. Music, videos, games, family, and even the bed can demand our attention when we should be taking care of school. Be sure to turn off notifications on your phone that only serve to distract you during school hours. 


  5. 处理好技术问题——你的笔记本电脑和互联网是你学习的途径,确保你准备好课堂所需的东西,并能访问你需要完成的功课。积极寻求帮助;我们已经为学生建立了一个技术支持群,学生们可以通过此群得到IT和老师们的帮助。 

    Get your tech issues fixed – Your laptop and the internet are your avenues to learning, make sure you have what you need to be in class and access your schoolwork. Ask if you need help; we have set up a Tech Help WeChat group for students to go to and get help from IT and teachers. 


  6. 设定每日/每周的目标——目标应该务实和可以衡量的(用SMART原则来设立目标)。

    Set daily/weekly goals – Goals should be realistic and measurable (think SMART). 


  7. 别忘了制定锻炼计划,一天两次,每次10-15分钟 ——仰卧起坐、俯卧撑等。可以打开这个链接,选择你的运动https://www.healthline.com/health/fitness-exercises/10-best-exercises-everyday#start-here, 或者在网上搜寻适合居家锻炼的项目,并制定自己的计划。 

    Don’t forget a schedule for exercise of 10 to 15 minutes at least twice a day – Sit-ups, push-ups, etc. You could choose exercises provided here: https://www.healthline.com/health/fitness-exercises/10-best-exercises-everyday#start-here, or do a quick online search for at-home exercise plans and come up with a daily routine. 


  8. 放下电子产品——让你的眼睛和大脑远离电子设备休息一会,这真的很重要。

    Put down Electronics – Give your eyes and brain a break from devices. It really is important. 


  9. 为朋友腾出时间——你的社交生活很重要;通过发送消息、打电话、甚至设置时间与一群朋友在Teams或Zoom上视频聊天。当你不能出去的时候,你很容易感到孤立和孤独,你必须多联系朋友,让自己意识到,在这场线上课程的冒险中,你并不孤单。 

    Make time for friends – Your social life is important; Connect with friends by sending a message, making a call, or even setting time to video chat with a group of friends on Teams or Zoom. It is easy to feel isolated and lonely when you can’t leave the house, you must make the effort to reach out to friends to realize you are not alone in this adventure of online classes. 


To Parents

如何帮助孩子应对网络学习(家长篇):

How to assist children to cope with online learning:


让孩子使用电子产品学习对孩子的意志力是一种很大的考验,开展线上网络课程时,家长该如何应对呢?

It is a great challenge for children's willpower to let them learn by using electronic products, how should parents respond to online courses?


  1. 首先,家长要降低焦虑的心态。要相信大部分的家长都会有相同的想法和焦虑,担心孩子们网课的效果不好或者孩子的意志力不够坚定。在此情况下,家长需要做到的是找到解决的办法而不是盲目的焦虑和责备孩子;

    First, parents should reduce anxiety. We should believe that many parents have the same thoughts and anxiety, Most of them would worry about their children not being able to focus during online classes which turns out a bad result of learning. However, if this is the case, what parents really need to do is to find a better way to assist their children, but not to blindly worry and blame them;


  2. 有条件的话尽量与孩子的作息时间保持一致,让孩子在规则感下学习。在学校里有老师约束孩子们的行为作息,回到家中则要靠家长要以身作则的自律,给孩子树立好的学习榜样。特别是疫情期间也受到隔离,需要居家办公的家长,更要给孩子树立榜样;

    It is a good suggestion to keep consistent with the child's work and rest time, so that the child can learn by the sense of rules. In school, teachers restrict children's behavior and rest, while at home, they rely on parents' self-discipline to show their children a good example.  Especially during the epidemic, parents who are working from home could give a chance to set a good example for their children;


  3. 在家和孩子一起“学习”。家长居家隔离期间可以“学习”硬笔书法或阅读人文书籍等,与孩子的学习频率尽量保持一致。“学习”的内容不建议和孩子的出入较大,容易给孩子造成心理上的不平衡。在辅导孩子学习时,建议减少手机或娱乐设备的使用频率;

    "Study" with children at home. Parents can "learn" hard pen calligraphy or read humanities books during home isolation, which should be consistent with their children's learning frequency as far as possible. The content of "learning" is not recommended to be too far off of what the child is learning, it is easy to cause psychological imbalance to them. When tutoring, it is suggested to reduce the frequency of using mobile phones or entertainment devices;


  4. 多和孩子进行讨论,让孩子有“青出于蓝而胜于蓝”的信心,有助于培养孩子学习的积极性。家长需要发现网课学习的优点并把合适的价值观传递给孩子,从而建立孩子对网课学习的期待。在孩子取得成效的时候,要及时反馈孩子学习取得的一些效果;

    Have more discussions with children, so that children have the confidence of "green comes out of blue and is meant to be better than blue", which helps to cultivate children's enthusiasm for learning. Parents need to find the advantages of online learning and pass on appropriate values to their children. So as to establish children's expectations for online learning. When children achieve improvements, they should timely feed back some results of their learning;


  5. 理解孩子该有的情绪状态,提供消极情绪的出口。在使用网络设备时,需要给孩子设定规则,给孩子设立奖惩制度。在居家学习时也要注意劳逸结合,做好时间的分配

    Always be alert on understanding the child's negative emotions, and to provide understanding of the child's negative emotional state. When using network equipment, we need to set rules for children and set up a reward and punishment system for them. When studying at home, we should always pay attention to the scale of work and rest, teach them to do a good job in allocation of time.
