这一周，在物理课上，我们收获了不少有趣的学习经历。首先，也是其中比较主要的一个例子，11年级的学生研究了保温瓶的特殊设计，有趣的是，尽管我们的学生常用保温瓶储存热水或冰水，但是他们从未见过保温瓶的内部结构。这项实验引起了全班同学的关注和好奇心，他们甚至想让我打破一个保温瓶模型，这样他们就可以观察到保温瓶双层玻璃之间的真空空间。

第二个是我们在研究固体和液体的膨胀过程中收获的经验。在这节课中，学生们学习了膨胀是怎样运用到我们日常生活中的方方面面的。固体热膨胀的第一个应用就是双金属片的工作原理。学生们进行了一项简单的实验，加热由锡和青铜制成的双金属片，并对双金属片的形变进行了几次观察。在研究了双金属片的形变后，学生们发现双金属片有几种工程应用，例如制作火警器，恒温器等。学生们能够理解为什么电熨斗在使用过程中会自动加热和关闭。

最后，随着物理课程不断吸引学生的兴趣，关注和好奇心，在莱克顿我们将尽最大努力以确保将课堂理论与实际的社会应用联系起来。

This week we had several interesting learning experiences during our Physics lessons. First and foremost, Grade 11 students studied about the special design features of a vacuum flask. It was interesting to find out that most of our students had never seen the inside structure of the vacuum flask despite having used it for storing hot and cold liquids. This attracted a lot of attention and curiosity from the class and they even requested that we break one of the models of the vacuum flask so that they could see the vacuum space between the two double-walled glass.

The second experience was during the study of expansion in solids and liquids. Here, the students learnt several aspects of expansion how they are applicable in our daily life. The first application of expansion in solids was the working principle of the bimetallic strip. The students carried out a simple experiment of heating a bimetallic strip made of tin and bronze and made several observations on the behaviour of the bimetallic strip. After the study of the behaviour of the bimetallic strip the students were able to discover that the bimetallic strip has several engineering applications such as making fire alarms, thermostats etc. The students were able to understand why the electric iron box turns on and off automatically during its use.

Finally, as the Physics lessons continue to attract more interest, attention and curiosity from students, we at Lucton will do our very best to ensure that we relate the theory in class to the really world applications.
