How to raise a bilingual baby , how to guide them fully develop their language talents at the best age, how to make children speak English into daily communication habits, these problems will be solved. At 20:00 pm on February 28th, Repton Headmaster Tom Kline and the Kindergarten Deputy Principal Ivy Huang started the first online live broadcast to provide parents with professional advice. 作为一名老师，同时也是一名四岁宝宝的妈妈，我从宝宝一出生就开始进行双语养育。

Hello parents,

As a teacher and mother of a four year-old baby, my child has been brought up bilingually since she was very young.

在四年多的双语养育氛围里，我家宝宝已经能和我使用英语进行流利的对话，同时还能够用英语自编自演一些小故事。

In the bilingual, nurturing atmosphere of the past four years, my baby has been able to speak fluently with us in English. She can also write and perform short stories in English.

根据现有科学证明，双语学习能够让孩子提升认知能力，开发学习潜能。通过这几年的实践，我发现自家宝宝无论是在接受新知识还是自我思维能力上，都比同龄小朋友更快一些。

Existing science proves that bilingual learning can improve children's cognitive ability and develop their learning potential. After years of experience, I have found that my baby is much faster than her peers in terms of processing new information and thinking things through.

我也曾被质疑过过早的双语养育会不会阻碍宝宝的语言发展。但经过这四年，我发现这种担忧完全是多余的。

I was worried that bilingual parenting in her early days would affect my baby's ability in one of the languages. But after four years, I have found that my concerns were baseless. 

0-7岁作为人类语言学习的黄金期，孩子对语言的接受能力就像“吸收营养”一样轻松。当大人们还在不断死记硬背的时候，孩子在日常交流中就能够轻松掌握语言。在这里还要提醒大家，7岁之后孩子的语言学习能力就会开始逐步下降，请千万要把握住这段黄金时期。

The first seven years are a golden age in human language learning. Children's ability to process language is as easy as absorbing nutrients when they eat. While adults struggle, children can easily master language in daily communication. The ability of children to learn language, however, will gradually decline after the age of 7, and parents must grasp this golden opportunity.

那么，在7年的黄金期里应该用什么样的方法来帮助孩子营造双语氛围呢？在这里我向大家分享三种可借鉴的双语养育模式，各位宝妈宝爸们可以根据自身进行选择：

Which methods should be used to create a bilingual atmosphere for children in this 7-year golden age? I would like to share with you the following three approaches parents can adopt according to their own circumstances:

One-Parent-One-Language (OPOL)

即一个家长说一种语言的方式

比如由妈妈和孩子一直都说英文，爸爸和孩子一直都说中文。尽管这种方式对家长的英文能力有一定要求，但也可以促使家长和孩子共同成长、共同进步。

Each parent speaks to their children in a different language. For example, the mother speaks English to their children, and the father speaks Chinese. This method, however, requires a high level of English proficiency, though parents can improve with their children.

Time And Place (T&L) 

即在特定的时间或者地点与孩子说英文

比如每天固定在睡前进行英文阅读；在家里设置一个英语角，这个区域专门用来进行亲子英文分享。这是在学校的语言学习中也相当常见的一种方法，能够通过创造场景来让孩子养成学习英语的习惯。

Parents speak English to their children at specific times or places. For example, reading stories in English before going to bed each day; setting up an English corner at home used to learn English and share opinions. This is a method that is also quite common in school language learning; helping children learn English by creating scenes they will remember.

Mixed Language Policy (MLP) 

即根据情景和主题来针对性使用相应语言的方法

比如聊到圣诞节、万圣节等西方节日的时候，用英文来讨论；在过年吃团圆饭等传统日子，用中文来交流。

A method for parents to use appropriate language for their children based on context and theme. For example, using English when talking about Western festivals such as Christmas and Halloween, and Chinese when discussing the tradition of family reunion dinner at Chinese New Year.

当然除了家长与宝宝进行双语互动外，还可以播放一些英文类辅材来为宝宝营造英语氛围。在这里我向大家推荐以下三大类别。
