东华文泽学校的线上课程已开始了一个月。在等待返回校园上课的同时,隔着屏幕的线上课堂不知不觉成为一个平台,让学生可以与同伴们相聚交流、得到老师实时解答疑问、甚至不受地域限制一起演奏音乐!


TWIS音乐部的Sharon老师和子敏老师提出了不同的想法,使在线学习成为有意义、有关联性和愉快的学习体验。在以下内容中,您将了解他们如何克服困难,指导小学PYP和中学MYP学生制作充满创意的作业和音乐视频项目。


It has been a month since TWIS Virtual School was launched. While we are waiting for face-to-face classes to resume on campus, face-to-screen classes have become a platform where students can socialize with their peers, get real-time support from teachers, and play music together regardless of geographical restrictions!


TWIS music teachers, Ms. Sharon and Ms. Zimin, come up with different ideas to make the online learning experience meaningful, relevant and enjoyable. In the following content, you will learn about how they overcome barriers and guide PYP and MYP students to work on creative assignments and music video projects.

自制乐器 

DIY Musical Instruments

学校里有各式各样的乐器,但学生家里并非如此,特别是低年级学生没有乐器在家。所以第一个交给小学生的任务便是自制乐器了。他们利用家里的锅碗瓢盆,例如把不同大小的杯子等做成有音高乐器。许多学生充分地利用家里的小工具来制作属于自己独一无二的乐器,真正表现出具有批判性和创造性思考者的IB学习者特征。

There is a range of instruments and music kits at school but it is not the case at students’ homes, especially for lower primary students. So the first music project assigned to PYP students was to make DIY instruments. They used household utensils such as different sizes of cups as pitched instruments. Many of them have shown the IB learner profile attribute of being critical and creative thinkers by successfully making full use of tools around them to make their unique instruments.

灵活多变 

Embrace Flexibility

很多事情总不能按计划进行的,相信老师比大家都清楚这一点。把课程搬到线上,难免要做一下调整。Sharon老师为二年级学生添加了一个新的学习单元“英文诗歌配乐”。在这单元中,学生们要朗诵一首英文诗歌,并尝试使用真实的声音配乐,再录制成自己的作品。课程的更改提升了学生的学习目标,从学习有音高乐器到懂得利用各种声音资源。



Things don’t always go according to plan. Teachers know this better than most. When it comes to online learning, you may need to make some adjustments. Ms. Sharon created a new unit “Sound Poem” for Grade 2. In this unit, students experiment to use real-life sounds and record it to create their own sound poems. Their learning goals are extended from learning a pitched instrument to utilizing various sound resources.

善用教学工具丰富课堂体验

Take Advantage of Tools to Enrich Engagement

线上课堂的目标之一是吸引学生的注意力并让他们积极参与课堂,这对大多数老师来说是一项艰巨的任务。Sharon老师深明这一点,所以在线上教学时尽量多采用视觉材料,如故事书、视频、配乐、在线测验等,以激发小学生们在线上学习的兴趣。善用各种材料有助学生从不同的层面理解这门学科的知识。

在线学习可以为学生带来前所未有的学习体验。Sharon老师说,当学生学习音乐理论时,他们觉得沉闷很容易分心。但使用电子白板等在线工具后,三年级的学生非常喜欢这门课,因为他们可以在屏幕上与同学们一起画画涂涂。


One of the goals of online classrooms is to gain students’ attention and keep them engaged, which is a tough task for most teachers. Ms. Sharon tried to use as many visual materials as possible, such as the storybook, video, soundtracks, online quiz, etc to induce students’ interest during online lessons. Taking advantage of various materials helped students to gain a better understanding of the subject from different perspectives.


Online learning can bring an exceptional learning experience to students as they have never had before in a typical classroom setting. Ms. Sharon is aware that when students learn music theory, they usually get bored easily. But with the help of online tools like the virtual whiteboard, Grade 3 students enjoyed those lessons very much as they could draw on the screen with their peers.

家长参与

Parent Engagement

没有家长的支持和帮助是不可能成功的。不管是在上音乐课时还是在课后,家长们都提供了各方面的帮助。例如,一些家长帮忙为学生购买了新的乐器;三年级也因此可以继续学习竖笛的课程。一年级学生的家长也一直协助学生们参与课堂,并促使探究单元(UOI)中与艺术课的合作课程能继续展开。他们还帮助学生录制音乐作业。以下是一首由一年级Andy和他爸爸合唱的歌曲“Take Time In Life”。


It would not have been possible without parents’ support and help. Parents help in many ways, no matter it is during or after online music classes. For instance, some parents help to buy new instruments so the Grade 3 class is able to continue the recorder unit lesson. Grade 1 parents are also helpful to assist students to engage in class and helped them to continue the collaboration project with UOI and the art lesson. They also help their child to record sound assignments. Here is a song sang by G1 Andy and his father- “Take Time In Life”.

情境教学

Teaching and Learning in Context

透过情景教学是MYP中学课程的基本原则之一。当老师能运用现实的情景带领学生理解学习的相关性和重要性时,学习效果会更显著有效。子敏老师就这次冠状病毒疫情为题材,跟MYP同学做了一个音乐课项目。同学们透过探索和反思,唱出《让世界充满爱》这首歌曲,并附上一段信息,表达他们对疫情的感想。当中有对在一线抗击疫情的医护人员致敬的、有对确诊病人表示关心的、有向TWIS同学们互勉的、也有自己的反思。请欣赏以下由MYP同学和子敏老师一同制作的视频。


An integral part of MYP curriculum is teaching and learning in context. Students can learn effectively when teachers use real-life scenarios to help them understand the relevance and importance of their study. Ms. Zimin organized a music project for MYP students regarding the coronavirus outbreak. Through inquiry and reflection, they had to record a video of themselves singing the song “Let the world filled with love” together with a message responding to the outbreak. They expressed their gratitude and appreciation to healthcare staff on the front lines, care to infected patients, support to TWIS students, and their self-reflection.
