言必信，行必果。

诚信是社会之基，更是立身之本。

所以，我们无论何时都应牢记为人处世诚信为本。

在本周的升旗仪式上，来自国际高中十年级的何炫熙和朱维鑫同学发表了题为“人无信不立”的主题讲话。从北京同仁堂的长盛不衰到三鹿集团的骤然破产，两位同学借国旗下讲话之机，给大家讲述了诚信的重要性，并号召全体师生从生活中的每一件小事里养成诚实守信的习惯。

附国旗下讲话稿全文：

尊敬的各位老师，亲爱的同学们：大家早上好！

Dear teachers and schoolmates: Good morning.

我今天国旗下讲话的题目是“人无信不立”。

Today my topic is being honest.

诚实守信是一个人的立身之本，诚实守信的人才能取得真正意义上的成功，我们应该做一个诚实守信的人。当我们谈论“诚信”的时候，人们往往觉得这很虚，像是没有意义的说教，但事实上“诚信”很有价值，是无形的资产，正如哥伦比亚作家马尔克斯所说：“守信是一项财宝，不应该随意虚掷”。

Being honest is so important. With honesty we can achieve real success. When we talk about honesty, it seems to be meaningless. But in fact it’s so important that it should be part of our intangible asset. Marquez, a Colombian writer says, keeping your words is holding treasure, we should not throw it away.

诚信可以创造巨大的经济价值。北京同仁堂是一家具有300多年历史的老字号药店，300多年来，同仁堂长盛不衰，经历了各种风风雨雨。在同仁堂门口有一幅对联：“品味虽贵必不敢减物力；炮制虽繁必不敢省人工。”同仁堂人牢记这一古训，诚实经营，现在同仁堂的品牌信誉很高，不仅在国内，而且在东南亚等地区，人们要吃中药都愿去同仁堂购买。这难道不是“诚信”所创造的经济价值吗？诚实经营树立品牌形象，良好的品牌形象可以增强竞争力，从而获得经济利益。

 Honesty can benefit us economically. Beijing Tong Ren Tang is a pharmacy with a history of more than three hundred years. The pharmacy lasts long, although it faced a lot of challenge. There is a couplet at two sides of the door. It tells people in Tong Ren Tang to be responsible and to be honest. People in China and other countries and regions like southeast Asia will choose Tong Ren Tang if they need Chinese medicine. And that’s the value of being honest. Running business with honesty will benefit the brand image, and people will make profit in the competition.

 不诚信将付出沉重的代价。三鹿集团，是一家曾获得多项荣誉的大型企业，在国产奶粉行业占有重要的一席之地，早期发展良好，但后期利益熏心，在奶粉中掺加三聚氰胺，三聚氰胺是一种低毒性化工产品，婴幼儿大量摄入会引起疾病，最终三鹿奶粉导致全国爆发婴儿肾结石，集团在2009年2月12日宣布破产，三鹿集团为经营中的“不诚信”付出了惨重的代价。不诚信或许能带来眼前的暂时的利益，但这些人终将将为他们的不诚信付出代价。

Lack of honesty, we will have to pay for it. Sanlu group, formerly a giant company with a lot of praise, played an important role in the milk powder industry. However, in pursuit of profit, they put excessive melamine in the milk powder, which would lead children to kidney stone. As a result of that, Sanlu group paid for its dishonesty. On 12th February, 2009, it came to bankruptcy. Dishonesty may bring us temporary profit, but we will finally pay the price.

大家可能会说，那么多不诚信的人获得了“成功”，我凭什么要诚信？比如，有的政府官员在各种场合都唾沫横飞地宣称反腐倡廉，不久就因腐败东窗事发而锒铛入狱，你说，他诚信吗？有的企业家最初的资金来源，不是通过侵吞国有资产，就是通过撕毁合同、进行欺诈获得的，你说，他诚信吗？有的知识分子执一学科研究地位之牛耳，却不断抄袭剽窃前辈、同行甚至学生的智力成果，你说，他诚信吗？以上种种人，在他们的阴暗面被曝光之前，他们都是社会眼中的“成功人士”，那我们就不禁怀疑诚信与成功的关系。但我们应该看到，这些人最终受到了惩治，尝到了“不诚信”的恶果，遭受世人的唾弃，不诚信也许能带来“成功”，但这样的成功既不幸福、也不永恒，只有诚信才能带来真正意义的成功。更多人在走向成功的道路上，依靠的一个重要力量依旧是“诚信”。

There are so many people with dishonesty achieve success. Why must I be an honest person? For example, some government officials always emphasize the importance of anti-corruption. However, they are finally put into the jail for corruption. Some entrepreneurs gain their money through peculation and deception. Some people earn their titles by plagiarism. All of them are successful before their illegal behaviors are exposed to public. They finally get punishment for their dishonesty. So we should not doubt the importance of honesty. Being honest, we can make further success.

诚信如此重要，现在我们就一起来反思一下，我们自己是一个诚实守信的人吗？写作业的时候，你有没有抄作业的情况？考试的时候，你有没有作弊的情况？写文章的时候，你有没有剽窃的情况？与人交往的时候，你有没有言而无信的情况？跟老师承诺的时候，你有没有轻诺寡信的情况？

Being honest is so important. Then are we honest students? Have you copied others’ homework? Have you cheated in exams? Have you plagiarized others’ ideas in your writing? Have you kept your promise with your teachers and schoolmates?

我们应该在心中树立起诚实守信的信念，并常常反思自己的行为，我们应该从生活中的每一件小事中养成诚实守信的习惯。正如《论语》中所说：“吾日三省吾身——为人谋而不忠乎?与朋友交而不信乎?传不习乎?”诚实守信是一项财宝，是个人的立身之本，我们都应该做一个诚实守信的人。

We should try our best to be an honest person. As the sayings in the book, the Analects of Confucius, we should always reflect on our behaviors and be an honesty person.
