一年级的探究性学习单元里,涵盖了长达一年关于探索世界各地不同传统和庆典活动的学习内容。这次,学生们从一位来自墨西哥的老师身上学习了墨西哥的亡灵节」节庆的意义在于以斑斓的色彩展现对生命的喜悦,以及对离开之人的思念与敬爱。


As part of Grade 1's year-long unit of inquiry on different traditions and celebrations in the world, they learned about El Día de los Muertos (English: Day of the Dead) from one of our teachers who originally come from Mexico. The significance of the festival is to show the joy of life with colorful patterns, as well as the yearning and respect for the one who passed away from this world.





探索历史古村

Exploration of An Ancient Village 



作为「我们身处什么时空」探究性单元的一部分,二年级学生参观了建于530多年前的西溪古村,探索了明清时期的南方房屋建筑。


As part of their unit of inquiry on Where We Are in Place and Time, G2 students visited Xixi Ancient Village which was built over 530 years ago. They explored how the southern construction of houses looked like during the Ming and Qing dynasties. 



当地居民友好欢迎TWIS的到来,还分享了古村的历史知识和故事。这种良好的互动帮助我们的学生了解了这个村庄的传统和价值是如何在现代中国延续的。


The local dwellers warmly welcomed TWIS and even shared some historical information about their village. This interaction helped our students understand how the traditions and values of this village continue in modern China. 




精致的文字艺术

The Intricate Art of Typography



本周的艺术课,九年级的学生们专注于书法和文字设计,学习如何选择字体让信息表达更为有效。例如,在书写表达爱意的信件时,我们倾向于选择曲线更为优美的字体,而对于电子出版物,我们会选择更为简洁且易于阅读的非个性化字体。


The Grade 9 arts students are busy this week applying their skills in calligraphy and lettering. They have learned how fonts are chosen in order to make the message more effective. For example, in writing love letters, we tend to choose curvier fonts, while for digital publication, we would choose the simpler less stylized ones. 



学生们自主选择名言,运用他们对字体编排设计的知识和理解,进行文字的艺术创作。未来,他们的作品将会展示在校园里,大家都迫不及待想要看到成品。


Students will apply their knowledge and understanding of typography in their chosen quotes to be displayed around the school. We can’t wait to see what words of wisdom our 9th graders want to share with the community! 




MYP法语课走进幼儿园

MYP French Class in The Kingdergarten



来自法语班的中学生们被邀请到了幼儿园的课堂,通过互动的方式,分享他们对于法语的热爱。在两组人用麦克风互相介绍之后,他们学习了如sur(在……之上)、dans(在……之内)、devant(在……之前)和derrière(在……之后)等关于地点的法语新单词。


MYP students from the French class were invited to the kindergarten class to share their love for the French language and conduct an activity. After the two groups introduced each other with a giant microphone it was time to learn new words for a location like sur (on), dans (in), devant (in front) and derrière (behind).  



为了让课堂变得更具互动性,幼儿园的小朋友们必须在我们中学生们的观察下,为每个生词做出一个具体的动作。MYP学生读单词,幼儿园学生闭上眼睛做出正确的动作,整个过程趣味十足。最后大家围成一圈坐在一起,MYP学生分享了他们为这次到来而精心制作的小册子,大家都听得聚精会神。


To make it more interactive, students had to make a specific move for each new word under the careful eye of our MYP students. Then it was time for the challenge: MYP students pronounced the words and the kindergarten had to do the correct movement with their eyes closed. It was a lot of fun. Finally, everyone sat in circle as the MYP students shared the booklet they had created for the visit. They were all paying attention!



道别之时,其中一个九年级学生得了「A+」的分数,她提到学习收获和幼儿园的小朋友一样多。这节课对两边来说是一次愉快且有意义的学习经历。不用担心,MYP的学生很快就会再次回到幼儿园的。


After saying goodbye or “A plus” Bella, a grade 9 student mentioned that she has learned as much as the Kindergarten did.  This session was both an enjoyable and meaningful learning experience for both groups. MYP will be back in kindergarten soon! 




MYP设计课

What’s Happening in G9 Design? 



在本周的MYP设计课程中,学生们结束了3D打印机的研究,理解了3D打印机的工作原理和流程。他们已经准备好使用原始材料和辅助材料,开始为他们的3D打印机用户手册勾勒雏形。


This week in MYP Design, students are wrapping up their research on 3D printers and finding out how they work and what they're capable of.  Now they are ready to use this research, which came from both primary and secondary resources, to begin sketching ideas for their 3D Printer User manual. 



学生得到一个素描设计工具包,他们需要将其概念性想法以素描的方式绘制在A3纸上。未来的课堂上,学生将提出“一系列可能的想法”来解决问题。


Students were given a Design Sketching Kit which included all of the things they need to hand draw sketches of their conceptual ideas onto A3 paper. Students will present a 'range of possible ideas' to solve the problem. 




戏剧表演

Drama Show



七年级和九年级的学生为观众带来了一场视听盛宴——戏剧表演及故事新编表演。表演是口头表达的一种形式。它旨在通过对学生进行分析、组织、生成和使用语言的调查,培养学生成为积极的沟通者和善于思考的人。

 

Grade 7 and Grade 9 students greet the audience with an audiovisual feast through drama performance and literary performance. Performance is one of the forms of oral expression. It aims to train students through the investigation of analyzing, organizing, producing text, and using language, which encourages them to become active communicators and thinkers.




八年级中文演讲

Grade 8 Chinese Speech


八年级学生迎来了中文语言文学总结性评估,并在礼堂进行中文演讲。演讲的主题来自IB国际教育体系学习者的十大标准,学生按照自己的理解升华演讲稿主题。


Grade 8 students participated in Chinese Language and Literature summative assessments, with giving a speech to the public in Chinese at our assembly hall. The topic of the speech is from the IB learner profile, in which students extend the topic according to their own understanding.



在演讲的过程中,有的学生从自身学习经历出发,阐述接受全人教育的重要性;有的学生分享了体育比赛中的反身性思考;也有的学生反思社交媒体现状,论述如何成为一个良好的沟通者......对于班上很多第一次登上演讲台的人来说,这是一次勇于尝试且意义非凡的经历。


Some students explained the importance of receiving well-rounded education based on their personal learning experience; some students shared their reflective thinking in sports competitions and some students reflected on the facts of social media and discussed how to become a positive communicator... For many of them who are on the stage for the first time, this is a risk-taker, courageous and meaningful experience.
