“校长说”栏目引发了家长朋友们的强烈关注，我们惊喜的发现，许多家长们关注并且重视教育问题。

今天，“校长说”栏目再次上线，与大家见面的是厦门华锐莱普顿学校校长团队中的另一位“大家长”——热情洋溢风趣幽默的外方校长Jeffrey Reed，他是美国国际教育学硕士，拥有13年在华双语学校工作经验，手持哈佛学校管理和领导力证书，曾任职于上海包玉刚实验学校，是宁波赫德学校与无锡南外国王国际学校创始副校长。

Since coming to China in 1999 and then returning in 2007 my experiences here have demonstrated the beautiful vitality of China and its people. My bilingual education experience started with YK Pao School in Shanghai. I was then involved in founding HD Ningbo in 2014 and Nanwai King’s College Wuxi in 2018. These schools are both partnerships between top British schools and Chinese Education. The experience has prepared me to take the International Head of School position here at Chiway Repton Xiamen. 

Repton, which is one of the most famous schools in Britain and the school Roald Dahl, the author of beloved British children’s books, graduated from. The partnership between Chiway and Repton is one which brings the best of Chinese and British education together with the spirit of the IB to Xiamen. Xiamen is one of my favourite cities and I have visited here many times. The ocean and the mountains here fascinate me, and the pleasant weather and friendly people make me feel I belong here.

1999年我初次来到中国，2007年又再次选择回来，我在这里充分感受了中国和中国人民的魅力与活力。我的双语教育经历始于上海包玉刚学校，2014年参与创办了宁波赫德学校，在2018年我参与创办了无锡南外国王学校，这些学校都是英国顶级学校和中国教育的合作项目。这段经历让我有机会在厦门华锐莱普顿学校担任外方校长一职。

莱普顿公学是英国最著名的学校之一，也是深受人们喜爱的英国儿童书籍作者罗尔德·达尔毕业的学校。中锐集团与莱普顿的合作是将中英教育的精粹与IB精神带来厦门的合作。厦门是我最喜欢的城市之一，我已经来过这里很多次了，这里的海洋与山脉让我着迷，宜人的气候和友好的人们让我觉得我属于这里。

The educator John Dewey once said, “Education is not a preparation for life but life itself!” This is also my personal motto. We are always learning, no matter how old we are and the more we learn the more we want to learn. Inspiring students to become lifelong learners has been my passion for more than twenty years. Students who have the thirst for knowledge teach themselves and the teacher guides them and helps them maintain their enthusiasm so that they are always improving both academically, physically and emotionally. Students then drive those around them to continue learning and that includes the teachers and administration. I am always learning from teachers and students and this is one reason I love what I do.

教育家约翰·杜威曾经说过:“教育不是为生活做准备，而是生活的本身！”这也是我个人的座右铭。我们总是在不断学习，不管我们年龄多大，我们学得越多，就越想学。激励学生成为终身学习者是我二十多年来的热枕所在。学生对知识的渴望使他们热爱学习，教师则引导并帮助他们保持热情，使他们在学业上、身体上和情感上都不断地提高。学生带动周围的人继续学习，包括老师和管理人员。我总是向老师和学生学习，这也是我非常喜欢我的工作的原因。

Students don’t just learn about what is in books, but they learn about relationships with each other, with teachers, their families and the community. They learn through playing sports, getting involved in the hobbies they love, which will help them connect with their friends and develop beneficial relationships that last a lifetime. I am an avid cyclist and SCUBA diver and this has helped me explore sunken underwater cities in China and see the beautiful life of coral reefs. These experiences broaden our minds and give us an appreciation for our environment, humanity and the world as a whole.

学生们不仅仅学习书本知识，他们还从彼此之间的关系学习，与老师、家人和社区之间的关系。他们通过运动学习，参与到他们热爱的的爱好中去，这将帮助他们与朋友建立联系，并发展终生有益的关系。我是一个执着的自行车爱好者和潜水爱好者，这帮助我探索千岛湖的水下城市，看到美丽的珊瑚礁景观。这些经历开阔我们的视野，使我们对我们的环境、人类和整个世界充满了感激之情。

To stand out among the many schools that value academic excellence, it is also important to develop students as a whole person using the IB Learner profile. Based on my many years of communication with Chinese parents, this is one of the main reasons why they choose bilingual education. Western education has always attached importance to cultivating students' interests and skills. A wide-ranging set of extracurricular activities including art, sport and debate will help make lifelong learners through the pursuit of their passions while instilling camaraderie between them and their peers. It is their connections and relationships in life that will make them successful leaders that can change the world.

除了让学术成绩突出之外，运用IB的学习理念使学生拥有完整的人格也是很重要的。根据我多年与中国家长的交流经验，这是他们选择双语教育的主要原因之一。西方教育一直重视培养学生的兴趣和技能，鼓励他们追求自己所热爱的事物，并同步培养与同龄人之间的友爱精神。广泛的课外活动例如艺术，体育和辩论也有助于塑造终身学习者。正是他们在生活中与他人建立的联系使他们成为能够改变世界的成功领导者。

It is also important to create a community for our teachers so that they know how much they are valued by the students, parents and the administration. A close relationship with our founding team and the community are keys to continual growth. To lead this school, I will dedicate myself to developing our current staff and continuing to recruit innovative teachers for my students, creating an inspiring environment and building strong trust between all stakeholders. Together this will help us accomplish our mission of students with Chinese Origins, Global Originality, Historical Virtues, Future Competence, that will help them lead China into the twenty first Century and beyond.

对我而言同样重要的是，为我们的教师创造归属感，让他们知道学生、家长和政府对他们的重视程度。与我们的创始团队和社区的密切关系是持续发展的关键。为了领导这所学校，我将致力于发展我们现有的员工，并继续为我们的学生们招聘勇于创新的教师，创造一个鼓舞人心的环境，并在所有利益相关者之间建立牢固的信任。这将有助于我们完成我们的使命，培养具有家国情怀、国际视野、素质全面、终身学习的未来领袖型人才，帮助他们带领中国创新21世纪甚至走向更远。

The Parents here at Chiway Repton Xiamen, are an integral part of our school and all children’s education. Bringing them into our school and creating a Parents as Learners network will facilitate the conditions necessary for developing their child’s character so that they can be the best that they can be. It will also help the parents understand what we do and why we do it, allowing them to support their child’s learning and developing the characteristics which will solidify their identity as Chinese while understanding and embracing the diverse world.

厦门华锐莱普顿学校的家长是学校以及对所有孩子的教育的重要组成部分。把他们带到我们的学校并创建以家长作为学习者的网络，是能够发展孩子的性格，使他们成为最好的他们的必要条件。这也会帮助家长理解我们在做什么，为什么我们这样做，让他们支持他们的孩子的学习和发展特征，这不仅将巩固他们作为中国人的身份，也同时理解和拥抱多样化的世界。

This is the first step of many that begins the adventure in which our students will experience the world through the lens of their own confidence and knowledge of Chinese culture, traditions and history, using it to forge a path of success and happiness that will build their personalities, intellect and empathy, so they can change the world for the better and bring pride to their country, family and themselves. Like Confucius, I believe that “Education breeds confidence, confidence breeds hope and hope breeds peace.”

这里将是他们精彩人生的一个起点，将来我们的学生能够自信地走向世界，带着他们的视野和博识，带着与中国文化和历史的联结，走出属于自己的幸福成功之路。他们的人格、智慧与善心，会为这个世界带去更多美好，也为自己的国家、家庭和个人带来更多荣耀。我非常欣赏孔子说的：“知者不惑，仁者不忧，勇者不惧。”

Jeffrey校长是校长团队中的新鲜血液，只要和他接触过，就能感受到他的热情和大方，他常常像一个老朋友一般和我们侃侃而谈，和大家分享着他和中国的故事。
