9月,我们将迎来一批来自于海内外名校的优秀教师,与哈罗海口共同开创精彩绝伦的2022/23学年。


                            

哈罗的老师都是有故事的人,除了教授知识,他们还拥有丰富的人生经历。他们当中有的毕业于牛津、斯坦福等世界名校,有的对世界拥有强烈的好奇心,教学足迹遍布几十个国家,有的被评为“骨干教师”,教学经验近30年……

 

我们相信,只有观过世界的人,才拥有自己的世界观,才能带领他的学生去领略这个世界的风景。

 



在进入哈罗海口前,他们有各种闪耀的身份、精彩的求学历程、也有海内外的多元教学经历。


为了同一个教育理想来到哈罗海口,现在他们有了共同的身份——哈罗老师。他们将在哈罗和我们的学生开启一段如何的教育新实践呢?

                              











The epidemic has inevitably affected the school's original plan of starting our new academic year. But it makes us look forward to the new term even more.


Despite facing many difficulties and challenges, the teaching team of Harrow Haikou will forge ahead as ever in providing the very best Harrow education.

In addition to the continuous improvement of campus construction, our team of high quality academic staff continues to grow.






This September, we will welcome a group of outstanding teachers who graduated from renowned universities and colleges at home and abroad to jointly create a wonderful 2022-23 academic year with Harrow Haikou.


In addition to teaching knowledge, Harrow's teachers also have a wealth of life experience. Some of them graduated from the world's top universities such as Oxford University and Stanford University; some have a strong curiosity about the world and have ever taught in many countries and worked with people from different cultural backgrounds; some have been rated as Core Teachers with nearly 30 years of teaching experience...


We believe that only those who have seen the world can have their own worldview and guide the way for their students to enjoy the wonderful world.


Before coming to Harrow Haikou, our teachers had different identities, education backgrounds and diverse teaching experiences at home and abroad. But now they join Harrow Haikou for the same educational goals, and they have a common identity – Harrow teacher. How will they start a new practice of education with our students at Harrow?

Craig David Cooper

高年级学部校长


Cooper先生曾先后任职于迪拜Jumeriah学校、哈罗北京、德威上海德闳学校。在二十多年的职业生涯中,他曾担任过多种角色,包括学科主任、部门负责人、助理校长和副校长。这些经历巩固了他对于教育的认知:


孩子们在最快乐并且注意力最集中的时候,学得更好;探究与挑战基于实际背景下的实践活动,从而获得认知和成长,这些通常发生在课堂之外。

Ellen Lin 林静

低年级学部中文老师


林老师毕业于东北师范大学,拥有29年教学经验,2010年入选教育部首批国家级骨干教师,曾获吉林市劳动模范、吉林市师德先进个人荣誉,先后获得国家、省、市、区各级奖励73项,主持国家级课题2项,参与省级课题7项。


林老师擅长语文教学、教研和相关管理工作,对统编教材有深入研究,形成了高效的作文与阅读教学策略。


同时,她也一直依据教育教学规律,站在国际视野下,深入钻研语文教学真谛,不断创新教学方法,不断构建新型教与学关系,打造高效课堂,实现有效教学,让学生自主学习,乐学好学。

Christopher Beinor

大学备考和就业指导部主任

我最初在芝加哥商品交易所工作,担任后台专家和在线交易员。我在哥伦比亚和中国有16年的教学经验。在哥伦比亚的时候,我教一年级和高中文学。我在中国工作的第一所学校时,是IB商业管理课程的负责人。我第二所工作的学校在北京,当时我是人文学科的负责人,教授经济学和商业课程。

James Trett

高年级学部学生关怀总监


Trett先生持有诺丁汉大学教育领导与管理硕士学位、埃克塞特大学信息技术方向的教育研究生资格证书(PGCE)与东安格利亚大学信息系统(荣誉)理学士学位。


他是一位经验丰富的教育领导,旨在为学生谋求福利,并为学生提供机会,让他们茁壮成长,充分发挥他们的潜力。Trett先生之前的工作是是在越南一所学校担任高年级学部的助理校长,负责学生福利、行为、安全和儿童保护。


在此之前,他在伦敦担任了四年的校长助理,负责考试、数据分析和学术干预。他的教学专长是计算机科学,拥有各种学术课程的经验,包括IGCSE、A-level以及IB课程。

在过去的八年里,我一直在初中教学,担任生物教师。对指导学生参加初中毕业考试有丰富的经验。为了更新教育理念,我参加了以色列、日本、上海等地的教育培训。现在,我专注于设计生物课程,以保证哈罗礼德学校课程与中国国家课程的一致性。

Alison Helen Phaup

高年级学部学术总监


Phaup女士曾在圣安德鲁斯大学和牛津大学学习,之后又在阿伯丁大学继续攻读学位。


她坚信终身学习的信条,并始终会通过她的课堂向学生们灌输这一点。她的教学足迹遍布英格兰、埃及、美国和斯洛伐克等国,作为一名老师,她对学生的建议一直都是:

作为一名物理教师,我有5年的教育经验。我想帮助学生解决物理问题,增加他们面对困难的信心。我还致力于激发学生对物理的好奇心。在我空闲的时候,我喜欢看日本动漫和电视剧。我也喜欢旅行,假期时我去了北京、杭州和厦门等地。我喜欢和我的朋友分享我有趣的旅行经历。

我有超过20年的广泛教育经验,我的第一份教学工作从韩国首尔开始,随后在英国伦敦工作了4年,在阿联酋的迪拜工作了11年,在泰国普吉岛工作了2年。


在我的教育生涯中,我曾经历各种不同的文化,也遇到了来自世界各地的人。我的教育之旅始于在韩国首尔教授英语,孩子们的年龄从5岁到13岁不等。随后我搬到了伦敦,在那里我主要担任4年级和5年级的班主任。作为我职业发展的一部分,我被选中参加一个开发英语工作计划的试点项目,该项目用于威斯敏斯特学校3至6年级的教学。之后我前往迪拜工作,在那里我主要在5年级和6年级任教,我的职责包括担任协调员、小学英语主任,并通过使用二维码和各种教育工具,培养将技术融入课程的兴趣。

let’s meet our new staff!



 

Craig David Cooper

Head of Upper School


Mr. Cooper has taught in a number of private international tier-one schools since 2008, notably Jumeirah English Speaking School, Dubai; followed by Harrow International School, Beijing; and Dulwich College’s Dehong Chinese International School, Shanghai. Having taught in both international and bilingual schools, he feels particularly attuned to the educational environment within a culturally rich Chinese context. 


His breadth of experience has led to a strong belief that children are happiest, and learn best, when they are fully engaged; challenged with inquiry based practical activities that have a real-world learning context, often taking place beyond the classroom. He also believes that a school’s strong relationships with parents and the wider community are vital to ensuring that children are supported as they move through their educational journey.





 

Ellen Lin 

Lower School Chinese Teacher


Ms. Lin graduated from Northeast Normal University with 29 years of teaching experience. In 2010, she was selected as one of the first batch of National Key Teachers of the Ministry of Education.


She was honoured as a model worker of Jilin City and an advanced individual of teacher ethics of Jilin City. She has won 73 awards at national, provincial, municipal and district levels, presided over 2 national-level projects and participated in 7 provincial-level projects. Ms. Lin is good at Chinese teaching, teaching research and related management. She has conducted in-depth research on unified textbooks and formed an efficient composition and reading teaching strategy. At the same time, she has always been based on the rules of education and teaching, working with the international perspective, deeply studying the essence of Chinese teaching, constantly innovating teaching methods, constantly building a

new relationship between teaching and learning, creating an efficient classroom, realizing effective teaching, and enabling students to learn independently and happily.




 

Christopher Beinor

Director of 6th Form and Careers


Bachelor’s degree in Finance - DePaul University, Chicago, USA.

PGCE - Nottingham University, UK.

Master’s degree in Education - University of Nottingham, UK.


I first started working at the Chicago Mercantile Exchange as a backoffice specialist and online trader. I have 16 years of teaching experience in Colombia and China.Whilst in Colombia I taught Year 1 and Upper School literature. At my first school in China, I was the Head of IB Business Management. At my second school in Beijing, I was the Head of Humanities and taught AS/A-level Economics and Business Studies. For the last 6 years, I have been in Shanghai, as the Head of Business and Economics as well as coordinating IBDP CAS and TOK. I also taught IB Economics and Theory of Knowledge as well as CIE IGCSE Business Studies. My hope is that every student I interact with will achieve to their highest potential.




 

Fangyuan Chen

Upper School

K-12 General Music Teacher License.


I lived and worked in the United States for eight years. I graduated from New York University in Music Education. I taught in the United States, South Africa, and China for the K-12 (kindergarten to high school) age group as a music teacher in public, private, and international schools for over 10 years. I studied with Dr Judy Bond, the former director of the American

Orff Schulwerk Association; Dr John Gilbert, Director of Music Education at NYU; Dr Raffi Besalyan; Nancy Shankman, former Director of Music for the New York City Public Schools. I have completed nearly 60 recitals as a piano soloist, accompanist, chorist, percussionist, and ensemble member with various performing groups across universities and venues in the United States.


I love travelling and have visited more than 30 countries across Asia, North America, South America, Africa, and Europe. 





 

James Trett

Upper School 

Director of Student Wellbeing


Mr. Trett is an experienced educational leader who is passionate about well-being and providing opportunities for students to flourish and fulfil their potential. 


His previous role was as an Assistant Head of Upper School in Vietnam, where he was responsible for student welfare, behaviour, safeguarding and child protection. Before this, he spent four years in London as an Assistant Principal, in charge of exams, data analysis and academic intervention. His teaching specialism is in computer science, with experience in various academic programmes, including IGCSE, A-Level and the International Baccalaureate.

I am experienced in guiding students to take the Junior High School Graduation Examination. To update educational concepts, I have attended educational training programmes in Israel, Japan, Shanghai and so on. Now I am focusing on designing biology lessons which are guaranteed the alignment between the HILA curriculum and the Chinese National Curriculum.





 

Alison Helen Phaup

Upper School Director of Study


Ms. Phaup studied at the University of St Andrews and the University of Oxford and, in recent years, returned to being a student again with a further degree at the University of Aberdeen.


She’s a great believer in being a lifelong learner and tries to instill this in the students who pass through her classrooms. Since finishing university, she has lived and taught in England, Egypt, Armenia and Slovakia, working in a range of schools, including day and residential. She has also been lucky enough to travel in these countries and their surroundings and is excited to begin exploring all that Haikou and Hainan have to offer.

I have had 5 years of experience as a physics teacher. I like to help students solve physics problems, increase their confidence to face difficulties. I like to work to arouse students’ curiosity about physics. In my spare time, I like to watch Japanese cartoons and dramas.

I have almost 20 years educational experience. I have taught students of all ages in the lower school. Over the course of my career in education, I have led the learning of Design Technology and Science in all the schools I have worked in. These disciplines provide ideal opportunities for students to develop the core skills they will need in their lives; being self-managed learners, active participants in  learning, being curious, developing problem-solving skills, managing relationships with others and the ability to integrate computer technologies into their learning. As a teacher, I have high expectations of students to achieve in their learning to the best of their ability and I understand that my role is to develop a learning environment where that can occur and students can flourish.




Michael Orr

I have over 20 years of wide-ranging educational experience. Throughout my educational career, I have experienced living in a vast range of different cultures, and meeting incredible people from all around the world. In London,  I was selected to take part in a pilot project developing English schemes of work, that were used for teaching throughout Westminster schools from years 3 to 6. My next adventure took me to Dubai, my responsibilities ranged from being the gifted and talented coordinator, and head of English in Primary as well as developing an interest in integrating technology into the curriculum, through the use of QR codes and a variety of educational tools. My guiding principle is to create a safe, caring learning environment where children are encouraged to take risks and learn from making mistakes, "forever learning, forever achieving".

My international teaching career has allowed me to live and teach in the UK, Australia, Qatar, Thailand and now China. Travel excites me, and working in an international setting has been very rewarding and an incredible experience. I feel honoured to have the opportunity to celebrate diversity and learn about different cultures. I have many interests and try to live a sustainable and compassionate lifestyle. I love people and animals and will always try to help others if I can.


I am passionate about designing a curriculum that fosters children's curiosity and imagination. Activities should ensure all children are actively engaged in their learning and should challenge and further deepen their thinking. Through role-modelling learning processes, children learn skills to become independent learners and their efforts are always celebrated. I aim to support children to build resilience and adopt a growth mindset within a classroom in which they feel safe to take risks.
