拥有10年中英两地的英语教学经验，Chris曾在浙江、广东、湖南的国际学校担任英语讲师，细数10年的教学生涯，Chris认为寓教于乐非常重要。

With ten years of English teaching experience in China and the UK, Chris believes that entertaining learning styles are essential in teaching.

对Chris来说，课堂上最重要的一点就是生动有趣，他会尽可能引导学生将英语学习与积极的经验联系起来。“对我来说，寓教于乐非常重要，学生们需要把英语学习与积极的经历联系起来。所以在课堂上，我们尽量以学生为中心。区别于传统的单词记忆方法，我尝试将语言带入生活让语言‘活’起来，同时这也是一种有效的教学方法，从长远来看，我们希望学生们继续把学习英语与积极的体验联系起来。”

Chris believes that an element of fun in the classroom is important and he has been trying  his best to guide students in relating their English learning to positive experiences. "And so in the classrooms, we do try to make it as student-centered as possible. It's not along traditional memorisation of words, but we will try and bring the language to life now as well as being an effective method of teaching; we hope that long term, the students will continue to associate learning English with a positive experience." 

作为广州斐特思学校创校伊始的首批员工，Chris认为斐特思闻名遐迩的历史是吸引他来到广州的很大一个因素。"对我来说，在斐特思这样一所声名远扬的学校工作是一个梦想。"斐特思聘用世界各地有着丰富教学经验的教师和具有国际教育背景的中国教师，营造多元文化的学习环境，为学生提供全天候浸润式双语习得环境，将真正的国际教育的精髓带给学生。

As one of the founding members of Fettes College Guangzhou, Chris is proud of the job, " Being from Scotland, it was a dream to be offered a position at such a reputable school. " FCG recruits qualified and experienced expatriate teachers from all over the world. It also absorbs talented local teachers with international education backgrounds to bring true international education to students and provide students with a multicultural learning environment.  

作为一名父亲，Chris认为学习环境对于孩子的成长非常重要，“可以在斐特思这样的环境里抚养孩子，我们很高兴，这是一个非常好的地方。”良好的学习环境创造了双向的果实，学生们的语言技能在得到提升的同时，老师也从中收获了成就感。从业10年，Chris仍充满激情。谈及在中国教学生涯最大的体验，Chris首先就用了“Exciting”来形容。

As a father, Chris believes that the learning environment is very important for children's growth. "We're very happy. We think it's a lovely environment to bring up a child."  He has been teaching for almost ten years, and he is always passionate. He described his time working in  China as an "exciting" experience.

“我觉得这是一次非常充实的经历，因为你看到了实实在在的东西，你的学生取得了进步，学生们也总是乐于与你保持联系，作为一名教师，这是一段非常有意义的经历，你知道你给你教过的学生留下了印象。”

"My time teaching in China has been a very fulfilling experience because you see the tangible progress that your students make; students are also very good at keeping in touch with you, so this really makes a rewarding experience as a teacher. You know you've left an impression on the students you've taught," said Chirs.

而中国极具特色的文化也是吸引他留在国内发展的一大原因，“10年前我第一次来中国的时候，我就爱上了这个国家和文化，这里的人都很热情好客，还有各种各样的美食，就连天气也比苏格兰好很多。”说到中国的美食，Chris两眼放光，特别提到了湖南菜“酸菜鱼”，“那是我第一次尝试中国菜，真的非常、非常辣，但我想，那太棒了，我喜欢这个味道。那时我们每周都会吃一次。”

Also, Chris is very interested in Chinese culture. "The first time I came to China was in 2011, and I fell in love with the country and the culture. The people were so welcoming, the food was delicious,  the weather is better than in Scotland. "Among Chinese cuisines, he loves "Suan cai yu" very much. "That was my introduction to Chinese food, which was very, very spicy. And I thought, excellent, I love that. "

对Chris来说，体验不同文化、不同学习和教学方式非常令人激动。在中国教学的这十年他过得很充实。“我想说这是令人难忘的。它不仅给我的职业生活，也给我的个人生活留下了深刻的影响。”

It was very exciting for Chris to experience different cultures and learning styles, and he thought it memorable. "It has left such a deep impact on not only my professional life but also my personal life. And my time living in China has been inntertwined with the jobs I have done and so many memorable experiences inside and outside the school. I would certainly have to say that 'memorable' is one of the words that I associate with living and working in China.
