Do you know what an 'Assembly' is?
At the International school, the assembly is a tradition where the whole school meets once a week for a variety of activities such as presentations by school leaders or special guests, educational or pastoral lectures, subject competitions, music performances, recognition awards and celebrations.

Join us today for an interesting and meaningful event at the ISA Wuhan student assembly.
在武汉爱莎，每周五下午都会举行由学生策划或教学部门主办的学生集会。
在这个月，同学们以年级或学院为单位，为学校其他同学和老师们带来了精彩的主题演讲及学习成果展示。涉及的话题十分多元：尊重、责任、毅力、善良、反霸凌、爱、世界各地的新年庆祝活动（中国、韩国、以色列和整个西方）。

At ISA Wuhan, student assemblies are held every Friday afternoon, either planned by the students or hosted by the pastoral department.
In this month, students have been working as a grade or house to deliver keynote speeches and presentations of their learning to other students and teachers in the school. The topics covered so far were very diverse: respect, responsibility, perseverance, kindness,anti-bullying, love, New Year’s celebrations across the world (China, Korea,Israel, and the West in general).
作为学生校园生活的一部分，集会主题以道德教育与人文心智关怀为中心，涵盖联合国世界公认日（如野生动物保护、贫困问题等）等全球性热点及良好价值观等重要内容。
这些主题与IB教育中的重点——“国际化心态”紧密相连。学生通过每周的PSHCE主题学习，深化对相关问题的理解，并通过演讲、情景演绎和互动等活动形式，对观众进行一种有意义的主题教育。

As part of the students' campus life, the themes of the assemblies are centred on moral and pastoral, covering global topics such as the UN world recognized days (e.g. wildlife, poverty, etc.) and important elements of good values.
These themes are closely linked to the 'international mindset' that is very important in IB education. Students deepen their understanding of the issues through weekly PSHCE topics study and educate the audience on the themes through activities such as presentations, scenarios and interaction.

武汉爱莎不仅是一所学术性的学校，更是一个社群，全校师生共同生活并称之为家的地方。除了日常的教学和学习，师生们还会在校内进行运动、集会、庆祝生日和节日——这些非学术性活动也是我们校园社群生活的重要组成部分。

ISA Wuhan is not only an academic school, but also a community, a place where the whole school community lives and calls home. In addition to daily teaching and learning, students and staff play sports, gatherings, celebrate birthdays and festivals on campus - non-academic activities that are also an important part of the life of our campus community.

"We are very proud of the collaboration between students and the spontaneous assemblies." Mr. Adam Klarfeld, Head of Pastoral at ISA Wuhan, said, "By coordinating with MYP teachers such as Greg Dorge, students are able to break out of the confines of their div and grade to do research activities with more people, which helps to increase the students' 'sense of community'."
Going further from the assembly
为了巩固每次集会的学习成果，爱莎武汉还会开展与集会主题相关的衍生活动。比如在反校园霸凌主题集会的下周一，师生们举行了“粉色日”活动，一起穿戴粉色的服装及配饰，以表示对反霸凌理念的支持。
这样的活动有助于增强全校师生的凝聚力，在潜移默化中帮助学生塑造正确的价值观。

To reinforce the learning from each assembly, ISA Wuhan also carries out activities related to the theme of the assembly. For example, the following Monday at the anti-bullying assembly, students and teachers held a 'Pink Day', where they wore pink clothing and accessories to show their support for the anti-bullying message.
Such activities help to strengthen the cohesiveness of the whole school and help students to develop the right values in a subtle way.
Jacob van Dyk老师向我们介绍说：“由于集会活动反响热烈，家长们也开始走进集会现场，亲身体验这项有趣的活动。目前，我们正在计划对集会活动进行线上直播，让无法到场观看的家长及对我们的集会感兴趣的人，能够参与到我们的活动中来。”

Jacob van Dyk told us, "Due to the overwhelming response to the assemblies, parents have started to come into the assemblies to experience this interesting activity. We are currently planning to live stream the assemblies online so that parents and those interested in our assemblies who cannot be there to watch can join us."

The next assemblies will also involve visual and performing, and will soon include music, with the PHE department also hosting sports assemblies. These exciting events will continue to bring the whole campus together and spread the idea of excellence to a wider audience.
