阳春三月,暖阳如约,春风十里,不如校园有你。3月11日,武汉爱莎举行了大型校园开放日,近200组家庭如约而至。


在位于长江之滨的美丽校园里,家长们零距离地与教学团队进行深入交流,围绕办学理念、课程设置、校园生活全方位地了解武汉爱莎。

In March, the warm sun shines as expected, and the spring breeze blows for miles, but the campus feels more delightful in your presence. On March 11th, ISA Wuhan held a large-scale campus open day, and almost 200 families attended.

 

At our beautiful campus by the Yangtze River, parents had in-depth exchanges with the academic team and while understanding in depth our educational philosophy, curriculum, and campus offerings.

During the departmental presentations, the principals of each department led the presentations and interacted with parents who visited the campus. As an IB school, ISA Wuhan has explored a new model of curriculum integration focusing on cultivating students' international mindedness while emphasizing a need for their participation and service to the community thereby bringing about innovation.

值得一提的是,本次开放日设置了教材和作业展示区,家长们对分层教学、语言学习项目、院舍制、人文心智关怀体系格外感兴趣,主班老师和学科老师们为家长们一一介绍教学细节并展示学生们的作业。

The open day also had an area where we showcased books and students’ work. Parents were particularly interested knowing more about the differentiation of curriculum, language instruction, house system, and pastoral care system. Teachers introduced the teaching philosophy.

家长们表示看到学生的作业感触很深,这些作业并不只是枯燥的习题练习,很多项目式的作业反映出学生的创造力和综合探究能力,这正是孩子们所需要的核心竞争力。

Parents said that they were deeply touched by the work they saw, as they were not just boring exercises but also reflected students' ability to think creatively and explore comprehensively - the core competencies that children need.

Ms. Robyn, the homeroom teacher, showed parents a variety of homework platforms, such as IXL, Myon, Level Chinese, etc. One of the student’s (Emily) dad joked that international school curriculum was not as easy as they thought.

这是我们探究“共享地球”这个主题单元时学生做的展示,学生通过探究学习各种生物的生活环境,深刻理解爱护环境、保护地球的重要性,以及在共享地球生活中所应履行的责任和义务。几个年级的学生们一起创作了这幅作品,他们花了两周时间搜集关于长江的资料,绘制海报并准备演讲,他们不断思考和探究,知识面也在不断扩大!

There was a diorama made by our students as part of our thematic unit on “Sharing the Planet.” Students have been exploring and learning about the environment in which various organisms live and have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of caring for the environment and protecting the earth, as well as their responsibilities and duties in co-habiting a shared planet. Students from different classes worked together to create this piece of artwork, spending two weeks gathering information about the Yangtze River, creating posters, and preparing presentations as they continued to think, explore and expand their knowledge!

当看到同一个班级的学生数学作业内容不同时,家长有些惊讶,数学老师Daniel解释道每个孩子的学习情况不同,因此设置了不用难度等级的作业,能够保证学生掌握知识的同时并获得有挑战性的学习。

When parents saw that the students' after-school homework was different even within the same class, they were surprised. Mr. Daniel, our mathematics teacher, explained that each child's learning ability was varied, so they set individualized assignments to ensure that students of all abilities were adequately challenged.

此时,音乐角里传来一阵美妙的小提琴声,音乐老师Jiyeon为孩子们进行了现场教学,孩子们愉快地拨弄着琴弦,欢乐地敲打着非洲鼓,现场仿佛变为一个小型音乐会。

A wonderful sound of a violin being played came from the music corner. Music teacher Jiyeon was giving a music lesson to the children as they happily strummed the strings and beat African drums, turning the venue into a mini-concert.

While the information session was in full swing, children were going into the classrooms and experiencing true IB classes. In this "Little United Nations," they found a new environment and quickly integrated under the guidance of their teachers, learning together with ISA students as IB explorers.

At noon, all families had a satisfying culinary experience of "A bit of ISA" in the cafeteria, while children played and laughed on the playground, and parents strolled around the campus to experience the comprehensive campus service system.

 

ISA Wuhan is not just a campus that provides courses and accommodation, but is centred around students' emotional, social, physical, and learning needs, and every member of the community provides comprehensive support and care for students.

In the library, students participated in the admissions assessment and parents also had an interview with the principals. 当天下午正值武汉爱莎高中学子赴美研学分享会,来游园的家庭们也被邀请至现场,零距离地感受爱莎学子的风采。高中学子们讲述了他们参赛模拟联合国大会、访问世界银行总部和参观顶级学府的所见所闻。

New families were also invited to the US research tour sharing session. They experienced ISA students’ excellent performance. The high school students shared their experience when they participated in the MUN, visited to the World Bank Headquarters and top universities.

Annie学姐向大家分享了托福首考104、雅思8分的好成绩,并向学弟学们分享学习心得。她表示自己并不是被一对一辅导的特例,只要学生们有需求,老师们随时都会提供帮助

Annie shared her good results- 104 in TOEFL first test and 8 in IELTS - and also her perspective with the students. She said that she was not the only one who had been given one-on-one coaching, and that the teachers were always available to help whenever students needed it.

All parents were so proud of their children and began sharing their experiences with each other, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

 

Jayden’s mom said what was even more touching was that the opportunity the school provided students to demonstrate their courage and thinking abilities and listen to their inner voices. At ISA Wuhan, every student, no matter how he / she has been defined before, will be noticed, encouraged and recognised, and this is the foundation of our educational philosophy.
