My journey to BeeMee started with 3 years of further education at Edge Hill University in the UK, a specific teaching college where I was trained by many experienced primary school and secondary school teachers. Over the 3 years I was given several months of class teaching time as a class teacher at various primary schools; and as a physics and chemistry teacher in middle schools and high schools around the UK.

Graduating from Warwick University, in the UK, in 2006, at the age of 25, I decided that life was too short to be in the office all day, so I made the life-changing decision to teach English in China.

It was in Shenzhen that I met my wife, who is from Hunan, so together we moved to Changsha. It was in this city where I first taught children, and from that moment I really began my career as a teacher of young learners. I have taught in kindergarten and primary schools. For three years I ran my own school with my wife, focusing on teaching children aged between 4 - 12 years. My most recent position was with a well-known international school in Changsha, where I taught English up to grade 3.

I am originally from Nottingham in the UK and graduated at the University of Derby in 2011. I was born and grew up in Wellington, New Zealand. I have been living and teaching in China since 2015 and have previously taught at schools throughout northern China including Beijing, Qinhuangdao and as far north as Hulunbeier, Inner Mongolia. I studied Chinese at Massey University, New Zealand, where my interest in language learning eventually helped me find my passion for ESL education. In my classroom I bring a play-based learning approach where I encourage students to explore the classroom for themselves and decide on what and how they play. Although I may accompany the children throughout play and sometimes suggest ideas for activities, the decisions ultimately lie with the children. I find that language ability develops rapidly through play as conversations occur naturally where children can narrate what they are doing and where the teacher can help encourage conversations by asking questions and introducing new words.

If I was to say one thing to the parents at BeeMee, it would be to get your children to try as many new things as possible whether that be a new sport or an instrument, or even a thrilling theme park ride. Trying new things will help slowly strip away any fears and give your children the confidence and desire to try new things out for themselves in future. The best moment for me at BeeMee must be hearing my entire class scream out and dance along to the ABC song with such confidence and passion. Watching my class grow and develop a love for music as I do is really a sight to behold.

I studied Food Nutrition and Applied Science at San Diego State University, USA then I came to China in early 2019. I have travelled all over China and came back to live in Hunan Province because I liked how convenient it is to live here. I chose to live in Changsha because it is very easy to travel and to get from one place to another. Changsha has an amazing railway and subway system that I take often. We can also take the subway straight to the airport and that makes it easy to fly somewhere even for the weekend.

I was born and raised in North Yorkshire, United Kingdom and studied English and Creative Writing at Liverpool John Moore’s University in my father’s home city of Liverpool. I was born in California, United States of America. I was born in the North of England and graduated with a Master's in Chemistry from the University of Leeds, UK in 2013. I was lucky to have the opportunity to study a year abroad during my degree and chose to study in Madrid, Spain. This is where I realised I was very interested in other countries, cultures and languages, as well as teaching other people more about my own.

I chose to work for BeeMee because I thought that the educational philosophy that BeeMee adopts was the perfect place for me to continue with my professional journey. The learning environment and location of the academy campus is outstanding. My years of experience in the education field make me an outstanding classroom professional.

My education philosophy is that I believe that young learners should be inspired by the combination of play and learning, and my message to BeeMee parents is this: Welcome to BeeMee, where your child will discover the better self!

我毕业于美国威尔明顿大学早期儿童教育专业学士学位，大学毕业后，我开始了一份普通的工作，需要大量的奉献和加班。那里就是我呆的地方，直到一个好朋友建议我们 "出去"，去旅行一年。我们都来到了湖南，在这里他们只待了3个月。现在我已经待了将近10年。

I graduated with a B.A. in Early Childhood Education from Wilmington University, USA. I started a normal job, which required a lot of dedication and many hours of overtime. That’s where I stayed until a good friend suggested we ‘break out’ and go travelling for a year. We both came to Hunan, where they lasted all of 3 months. I have been here for almost 10 years.

I am a firm proponent of helping children develop the skills to manage themselves and their emotions, as it makes them better learners and well-rounded individuals. I also adhere to a "learn by doing" philosophy and, whenever possible, like to engage the children in hands-on activities that support our learning objectives.

我来自新西兰基督城。毕业于坎特伯雷大学，获得文学学士学位，并在基督城教育学院获得中学教学研究生文凭。我有超过15年的教学经验，在幼儿园，小学和高中。

I’m from Christchurch, New Zealand. I graduated from the University of Canterbury with a Bachelor of Arts in literature and a Postgraduate Diploma in Secondary Teaching from Christchurch College of Education. I have over 15 years of teaching experience in kindergarten, elementary, and high schools.

I’m a life-long learner who has coached table tennis for over 17 years, trained adults in the public sector for 10 years, and tutored English privately for many years in my home country to all age groups. I have taught High School English to 13–18-year-old students at two New Zealand public schools. During that time, I coached table tennis and soccer and ran the debating club. I had a variety of roles within the Chinese education system, including Grade Level Leader for Grade Six, Homeroom Teacher, Homestay Manager, Assistant Principal, Deputy Principal, and Principal.
