On August 7th, Shenzhen Hualang International Academy (SHIA) held an opening ceremony to inaugurate the new school year. In the meeting, Principal and Vice Principal made speeches to introduce SHIA in detail, looking ahead to the development of students in the new academic year.

Principal Elaine addressed a speech at the meeting, presenting SHIA’s faculty structure, academy work priorities and school schedule. She stated that, “ the ethos and values of SHIA is to provide a holistic education which prepares students to become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens. SHIA’s mission is to equip our students with the 21st century skills, develop and encourage curiosity, critical thinking, and independent learning ability." In addition, she introduced the new teachers to students. Students were deeply impressed by the enthusiastic and humorous self-introductions.

校长罗宜在会上致辞，细致讲解了国际课程的师资架构、学年工作重点、学校日程规划。她表明，国际课程的办学宗旨和愿景是提供全人教育，将学生培养为终身学习者和负责任的全球公民。国际课程的教育使命是培养学生的好奇心、批判思维和独立学习的能力，将学生培养为具有21世纪技能的学习者。此外，校长向学生介绍本学年的新老师，老师们热情洋溢、风趣幽默的自我介绍给师生留下深刻印象。

After that, Vice Principal Daniel delivered a speech. He fully introduced the regulations of SHIA’s student learning, campus activities and accommodation to students, and put forward the expectations of the academy for the development of students. In order to recognize outstanding freshmen and stimulate their enthusiasm for future study and life, SHIA has set up scholarships. At the end of the meeting, Principal and Vice Principal presented scholarships to the outstanding students and took group photos. Hopefully, SHIA students can head towards a better future with confidence and enthusiasm.

随后，副校长赖声正致辞。他向同学完整介绍了学部的学生学习、校园活动和住宿规范的详细内容，提出对于国际课程对于学子发展期盼。为了表彰优秀新生，激发学生饱满的学习生活热情，会议的最后举行了奖学金的颁奖典礼，希望华朗国际课程学子满怀信心，向着更好的未来迈进。

House events

To ensure students better adapt the school and cultivate friendship, SHIA carried out a series of colorful campus activities. Under the careful organization of faculty, students participated in 3v3 basketball games, volleyball games and frisbee games, sweat on the field and work together as united teams. In the chess games, the students strategized on the board, battling wits with one another. In numbers huddle and treasure hunting, students laughed and strengthened friendships together. They also actively rehearsed and made gifts to adequately prepare for the activities of the Elderly home.

为了使同学们熟悉学校生活，增进彼此的了解，国际课程开展了一系列丰富多彩的校园活动，在学部老师的精心组织下，同学们参与3v3篮球赛、排球比赛和飞盘比赛，在赛场上挥洒汗水，团队协作；在围棋比赛中，同学们在棋盘上运筹帷幄，斗智斗勇；在数字哈斗和趣味寻宝中，同学们共同欢笑，坚实友谊。同学们积极排练节目、制作礼物，为养老院活动的开展做出充足的准备。

On Friday morning, students went to school’s indoor golf course and experienced the joy of playing golf themselves. Louie, as the little teacher of the students, carefully explained the basic rules of golf. Everyone was eager to have a try. After practice, there was a small competition between the four Houses, and members representing their house were sent to participate. After the games, Phoenix House won the competition with an impressive score of 5 points.

周五上午，同学们一同体验学校的高尔夫练习场。Louie黄致远同学作为同学们的小老师，细心地向大家说明高尔夫的基础打法规则等，大家热情高涨，跃跃欲试。在每位同学练习之后，四个学院之间进行了小小的比赛，每个学院派出成员代表学院出战。经过有趣的比赛后，Phoenix学院以5分的傲人赛果赢得本次比赛。

On August 10, SHI A organized the Edinburgh International Awards - Volunteer Project.Volunteering develops empathy, self-esteem, and provides perspective on community for youth growing into adulthood.

In Elderly home, students actively performed programs, and had warm talks with the elderly. Together with the elderly and community volunteers, students learned gesture dance and made clay crafts, bringing warmth and laughter to the Elderly home. The elderly are quite cheerful because of the arrival of the children, and they performed a chorus for students. At the end of the activity, the children gave the elderly the hand-made sachets as goodbye gifts. We believe students benefit a lot from this activity. Students laughed along the way back to school, and drew a successful end to this week’s trip with full energy. Let’s look forward to the new chapter for the SHIA students after the official start of class next week!

8月10日，国际部组织开展爱丁堡国际公爵奖-社区服务项目。我们希望通过志愿服务培养学生同理心和关爱他人的品质。学生们在老师的带领下前往盐田区社会事务中心招商观颐之家养老院开展敬老院社区服务。在敬老院，同学们踊跃表演节目，热情大方地与老人们互动谈心，同爷爷奶奶和社区志愿者们一起学习手势舞、制作粘土手工，为敬老院带来了温暖和欢笑。

老人们也因孩子的到来而心情愉悦，为孩子们带来合唱表演。活动结束，孩子们为爷爷奶奶送上亲手制作的香囊作为礼物。在返程的路上，大家欢声笑语，讨论着自己的活动感受，用满满的能量为本周的国际课程之旅画下了圆满的句号。让我们共同期待下周正式上课后，国际课程同学们开启新篇章！
