As Doria mentioned at the commencement, the past three years for the inaugural scholars have been a roller coaster ride. This year, they finally had their first AP exams, with 36 scholars participating in 15 different subjects. The significance of this first-ever AP exam since the school's founding is self-evident. The HC scholars lived up to expectations and achieved excellent results, with a total of 22 perfect scores (5 out of 5) and 29 scores of 4.

As an officially certified AP school by The College Board (AP Code: 694680), Our school not only holds the qualifications of a regular upper grades but also operates as a Sino-foreign cooperative institution. In the upper grades, scholars benefit from a blend of both Chinese and American educational essence through localized courses and a rich array of AP courses, including AP Psychology, AP Microeconomics, AP Calculus, AP Biology, AP Physics, and more. The "one scholar, one customized timetable" approach in the upper grades allows scholars to choose courses based on their academic foundation, learning abilities, and interests, providing the flexibility and support needed to nurture their individual talents and achieve excellent results in examinations.

In the Microeconomics subject AP exam, among the scholars from our school who participated in the exam, 93% achieved a score of 3 or above (compared to the national average of 81.1% and the global average of 67.9%), and nearly half of the scholars achieved an excellent score of 5 (43%). Additionally, the percentage of students scoring 4 was also at 43%.

下个学年，高中部将为学者进一步丰富AP课程的选择项，开设均衡文、理学科的19门AP（美国大学先修）课程，包括新增的AP Pre-calculus，这门是美国大学理事会（CB）今年首次推出的全新课程，还有如AP Physics C，AP Drawing等比较受学者欢迎的课程。同时，学校今年引入了AP Capstone项目，为学术能力卓越的学者开设了AP Seminar（AP Capstone包含，AP Seminar和AP Research），学者将有机会获得AP Capstone Certificate证书或者AP Capstone Diploma 文凭）。

In the upcoming academic year, Upper Grades will further enrich the scholars' options for AP courses by offering a total of 19 AP (Advanced Placement) courses, covering both balanced humanities and science disciplines. This includes the newly added AP Pre-calculus, which is a brand-new course introduced by The College Board (CB) this year, as well as popular courses like AP Physics C and AP Drawing, which have garnered significant interest among the scholars. Additionally, the school has introduced the AP Capstone program this year, providing an opportunity for academically exceptional scholars to take AP Seminar (a part of the AP Capstone program, which also includes AP Research). Scholars participating in the program will have the chance to earn an AP Capstone Certificate or an AP Capstone Diploma.

Our School upholds the philosophy of holistic education and personalized development. While encouraging scholars to challenge their academic potentials, the school also emphasizes the cultivation of interests, leadership skills, physical and mental well-being, and other aspects of personal growth beyond academics. The focus is not solely on pursuing high scores in exams but on nurturing a well-rounded individual. Therefore, during the upper grades at HC, each scholar will explore 9 major core subject areas, covering areas， covering humanities, social sciences, mathematics, sciences, computer science, arts, and physical education. Moreover, using a tiered system with four levels and across grade divisions, the school supports each scholar in achieving comprehensive foundational education. This structured approach allows them to gradually progress to the study of AP and even EAP (Enrichment Advanced Placement) courses, ensuring that every AP achievement is built on genuine and solid academic understanding.

Our upper grades will allow some academically exceptional scholars to start taking selected AP courses from the first year of Upper Grades, such as AP Psychology, AP Microeconomics, and AP Pre-calculus, to empower them with a stronger competitive advantage at an earlier stage. Moreover, the maximum number of elective AP courses has been adjusted from three per year to four, providing capable scholars with more possibilities.

In HC upper grades, each scholar is surrounded by five key roles: Subject Teachers, Advisors, Academic Directors, Division Principal and College Counselors. Throughout the critical three years of upper grades, these educators consider scholars' academic abilities, professional interests, and college preferences to offer guidance on selecting foundational and AP courses. Through each decision, scholars gain clarity in their academic planning and learn an important lesson in life - "choice," preparing them for the broader freedom of university life.
