About 比赛介绍

On 5th and 6th August, the 2023 Haikou Cup Regatta (Invitational) was held in Haikou, Hainan, with a total of 16 fleets (except for our three youth teams in Nansha, the rest are all adult teams) competing in the Open Division. After 2 days and 5 rounds of fierce competition, my team Black Pearl won the Open Division Championship. It was a great surprise for us to win this championship, I felt very excited!

8月5、6日，2023海口杯帆船赛（邀请赛）在海南海口举行，共有16支船队（除了我们南沙三支青少年队，其余都是成年队）参加了公开组比赛。经过2天5轮的激烈角逐，我所在的黑珍珠队获得公开组冠军。对我们来说能获得这个冠军非常惊喜！

Before the race, our team analysed our own situation and the difficulties we might encounter in the race, and we didn't have any hope to win the championship. Firstly, we are not experienced enough: there is no age limit for the participants in the Open Class of this Invitational Race, and our four team members are 15 years old on average, which is not as good as most of the participants in terms of sailing age and experience. Secondly, we are not familiar with the racing waters: we have been training in Nansha, Guangzhou, and have never trained in Haikou, Hainan, where the terrain and wind conditions are completely different from those in Nansha. Thirdly, we were not familiar with the boat type for the race: the designated boat type for the race is FE23, which is not available in Nansha base, and two of our team members have never been in contact with this boat type. The captain and I used it once in a race a year ago, and the result was not good at that time.

比赛前，我们队分析自身情况和比赛中可能遇到的困难，对夺冠并不抱以希望。首先，经验不足：这次邀请赛的公开组对参赛选手没有年龄限制，我们四名队员平均年龄15岁，不管是帆龄还是参赛经历都比不上大部分参赛选手，我们在队内开玩笑说参加这个级别的赛事顶多是去刷经验。其次，海域不熟：我们队员一直在南沙开展训练，从未在海口基地训练过，海口海域的地形和风况与南沙基地的完全不一样。第三，船型不熟：比赛指定使用的船型FE23，南沙基地没有这个船型，我们有2个队员从未接触过这个船型。我和队长在一年前一次比赛中使用过一次，成绩并不理想。

However, under the guidance and encouragement of our coach, we rose to the challenge and made sufficient pre-race preparations, and eventually went through the process of ranking from third to second, and then from second to first, and won the overall championship of the Open Division of this regatta!

然而，在教练的指导和鼓励下，我们迎难而上，进行了充分的赛前准备，最终经历了从排名第三到第二，再从第二到第一，获得了了此次帆船赛公开组总冠军！

My first contact with sailing was more than two years ago. My dad has some friends who went sailing in Nansha Sailing Association, so he took me to experience it. Originally I was a bit resistant to it, but I gradually fell in love with this sport during the training.

我第一次接触帆船是在两年多前。我爸爸有几个朋友在南沙帆协玩帆船，就带我去体验了一下。本来我是有点抗拒的，但在后面的训练中逐渐的喜欢上了这项运动。

During these two years of training I have made some friends and met many people; training has also given me many experiences that I could not get at home or at school, making me stronger. This championship is the result of more than two years of joint efforts and co-operation between the Nansha Sailing Association and the Black Pearl team, and it also makes me understand the importance of the teamwork better!

在这两年多的训练中交到了一些朋友也认识了很多人；在训练中吃了很多家庭和学校里不可能吃的苦，慢慢变得坚强一些了；这次夺冠是南沙帆协和我们黑珍珠团队两年多共同努力和配合的结果，也让我更明白了团队的重要性！

Sailing is a very popular sea sport in foreign countries, and it has many benefits: for example, outdoor sports are good for health; team sports can cultivate the quality of perseverance and team spirit; you can make more friends and better integrate into the international life in the future; and finally, the results of the competition are recognised by all major universities, which is helpful for the future of further studies!
