Founded in 2020, Sias International School (Sias IS) is the first international school in the Henan province. Sias IS is a partnership between the Zhengdong New District Management Committee and Sias Group China. It is located in the core area of North Long Hu. The campus is comprised of more than 6 hectares, a total building area of about 90,000 square meters, and world-class standard international school facilities.

At present, there are 48 foreign faculty who come from 24 different countries around the world collaborating at Sias IS. The instructional staff have educations from universities around the world; more than 80% of teachers have earned their master's or doctoral degree. Swipe left to read English version Sias IS was designated an International Baccalaureate school（Primary Years Program) on May 18th, 2023. Sias IS aims to become the first full continuum IB school in Henan by earning the PYP, Middle Years Program (MYP), and Diploma Program (DP) authorizations.

The IB curriculum and diploma is highly valued by the world’s most competitive universities. It integrates international mindedness with the philosophy of whole-person education. SIas IS has selected the IB as its guiding instructional program because it cultivates a learner profile that most closely aligns to the school’s mission. Sias IS became an accredited Primary Years Program (PYP) world school. The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a curriculum framework available around the world for students from 3-19 years of age. It is taught in state, private, national, and international schools spanning 147 countries around the world. The IB Programs encourage students to be independent thinkers and lifelong learners. Creativity is fostered in all areas of the curriculum, including academic, sporting, and artistic disciplines.

The EAL program at Sias IS is a holistic one. Students are treated as young individuals who need to be shown the connections between language and life and between language and how it should be used within the environment of an international school. In additional to the EAL program, all teachers at Sias IS recognize their role as English teachers and pay attention to transdisciplinary teaching of English to improve students' mastery of the language.

Sias IS provides a wide range of After School Activities (ASAs), including sports, arts, science, and academics. A variety of high interest classes help students explore, discover and develop their own interests and hobbies. In addition to ASAs, Sias IS offers a growing competitive sports program with students set to begin competing in the ACAMIS conference of international schools. To maximize the usage of its world class facilities, Sias IS intends to provide rich performing arts, visual arts and sports activities for greater student engagement.

Sias IS Outdoors brings students out of the traditional classroom and offers them the opportunity for learning in the great outdoors.  The environment of nature and space introduces the idea that lifelong learning doesn’t have to take place in the classroom alone. In addition, Sias IS Outdoors provides a more holistic form of education with experiential and collaborative learning.

During school breaks, Sias IS has developed camp offerings which serve to engage students in high-level English learning and explore topics such as aviation and STEM that may not get as much time during the instructional year. Sias IS strives to create a welcoming and caring community. We emphasize the service-learning program, a core component of the IB MYP, for students in the upper grades. Students, parents and staff are encouraged to participate in public service activities. Sias IS is dedicated to creating learning experiences that connect students to the greater world beyond their school and home.

Sias IS holds and attends special events to enrich the students’ life at school, such as the Tree Lighting Ceremony, Literacy Week, Field Days and Children’s Day Celebration. These activities are excellent opportunities for students to develop their social communication skills while becoming further immersed in local and foreign cultures.

Parents are partners in their students’ learning. Parent Teas are hosted regularly to give parents a deeper understanding of the IB program.  English classes are offered for parents who wish to improve their own English language skills.  Communication between school and home is offered in English and Mandarin. Sias IS has established a Parent Advisory Committee to actively engage parents in school growth and provide valuable feedback to the Head of School. Also, DingTalk groups have been built to support daily communication between parents and the school and teachers. Sias IS welcomes parents to be involved with their children’s education and support the development of a world-class school for their children.
