At LEH International School Foshan, we take pride in offering a holistic educational experience that extends beyond the classroom. Our Boarding Programme reflects our unwavering dedication to nurturing well-rounded individuals academically, socially, and emotionally. It is designed to offer a genuine 'home away from home' experience in a safe, secure, caring environment, fostering happiness and comfort within a positive, trusting atmosphere. Our boarding students enjoy the advantages of spacious, modern, and comfortable living facilities, coupled with a thoughtfully structured programme of boarding activities and teacher-supervised Evening School. The overarching goal is to promote the development of strong character and self-confidence and a balanced lifestyle, guiding and empowering students to thrive and reach their fullest potential.
As a result of the increasing number of boarding students, our boarding community at LEH Foshan is undergoing an exciting transformation with the impending opening of our second boarding building. Alongside this physical expansion, this year we have seen a growth in the number of staff who will oversee our boarding programme. It is with pride that we present our dedicated and thriving Boarding Team for the academic year 2023-2024!
Head of Boarding & Pastoral Care
Heading Boarding and Pastoral Care at LEH Foshan, Mr Banks brings a wealth of experience to our community. Formerly a Pastoral and Safeguarding Leader and Assistant Headteacher at a UK school for 13 years, his senior leadership roles encompassed holistic student care. Before arrived at LEH Foshan, he was the key worker within the boarding school community in a well-established boarding school in Thailand, further enhancing his expertise. Joining LEH Foshan in August 2022, his leadership has propelled the boarding community to flourish and thrive over the past year.
Extending beyond teaching, Mr Richards and Ms Forrest enjoy their roles as House Parents. They create a nurturing space within boarding houses, offering guidance and emotional support, and fostering team spirit. As mentors, they empower students with essential life skills and values, aiding their journey to independence. Both House Parents are teachers who work throughout the academic day teaching LEH students the English Language. In the evening, they support boarding students with their study. Their commitment, knowledge and experience are vital components in ensuring students are academically supported. Their commitment enriches the holistic growth of each student, ensuring a well-rounded boarding experience that extends beyond academics. The House Parent is there to manage matters related to the health and wellbeing of every child who lives in the Boarding House.
As the Personal Assistant to the Head of Boarding, Ms Mo plays a pivotal role in overseeing the boarding program's smooth operation and facilitating effective communication between Mr Banks and the boarders’ parents.
As Matrons, Ms Zhu and Ms Meng provide unwavering pastoral care and guidance to each boarder. Their expertise includes advising on personal organisation, hygiene, and essential life skills, fostering independence and holistic development. They also serve as attentive listeners, bridging communication between students, parents, and the school.
A Collaborative Endeavour
Across the School
In addition to our devoted boarding team, students benefit from round-the-clock healthcare as our School Nurses reside on campus within the boarding building. Their presence guarantees timely support, ensuring student safety and well-being.
The boarding programme is enriched by the involvement of our teaching faculty. They take turns to support evening school on weekdays and lead weekend boarding activities for students staying over. Structured activities, from movie nights to sports games and cultural day trips, offer a spectrum of enjoyment for our boarders.
Fostering a Strong
Home-School Partnership
We maintain transparent communication with parents, keeping them informed about their child's progress and well-being. In the coming year, the school will implement a structured schedule for regular updates and meetings with boarding students' parents, to strengthen the partnership between home and school.
At LEH Foshan, our boarding team collaborates closely with the entire school community to offer an authentic British boarding experience – a genuine home away from home. Our mission is to foster responsibility, compassion, confidence, and vital life skills in students for lifelong success. With personalised care, immersive experiences, and a steadfast commitment to holistic growth, we create an environment where students excel academically and personally. Join us at LEH Foshan and be a part of a transformative educational journey that extends beyond the ordinary.
