Celebrating “Who We Are” - IB Department|歌颂“我们是谁” - IB学部

As we embark on another academic year, we should reacquaint ourselves with a cornerstone of our IB Primary Years Programme (PYP): the “Who We Are” unit. This unit, deeply rooted in the ideals of the IB philosophy, plays a critical role in our students' holistic development, promoting self-awareness, international-mindedness, and an understanding of humanity, which aligns with our school vision:

Central Idea|中心思想

The unit revolves around a central idea, an inquiry into the nature of the self, beliefs and values, human relationships, and personal well-being. This serves as a guiding post for the exploration and understanding of self and others. 

该单元围绕一个中心思想,即对自我本质、信仰和价值观、人际关系和个人福祉的探究。这是探索和理解自我和他人的指南针。



Inquiry-based Learning|探究式学习

The unit employs a learner-centric, inquiry-based approach, encouraging students to pose questions, seek answers, and derive understanding from their findings.

该单元采用以学习者为中心、基于探究的方法,鼓励学生提出问题、寻求答案并从他们的发现中获得理解。



Holistic Development|全面发展

Beyond academic prowess, the unit promotes emotional, social, and physical growth. It empowers students to reflect upon their actions, understand their emotions, and establish personal connections.

Interdisciplinary Links|跨学科整合

The unit draws connections across subject areas, allowing students to view concepts from multiple angles, be it historical, cultural, scientific or mathematical.

Cultural Awareness & Diversity

Emphasising the PYP's global perspective, "Who We Are" instills an appreciation for cultural nuances and fosters a spirit of open-mindedness.

Real-world Application|现实世界的应用 

Lessons connect to real-world scenarios, equipping students with skills and understanding they can apply outside of the classroom context.

Reflection & Action|反思与行动

A key tenet of the unit is fostering a sense of responsibility. Students are not just learners but also doers, inspired to take meaningful action based on their newly acquired knowledge.

In embracing the "Who We Are" unit, we are actively engaging in nurturing globally aware, compassionate, and inquisitive young minds. As a school, we are excited to inspire our students to journey inward, as they also reach out to grasp the vast and diverse world around them.

在探究“我们是谁”的过程中,我们积极致力于培养具有全球意识、富有同情心和好奇心的年轻人。作为一所学校,我们很高兴能够激励我们的学生向内探索,相信他们也能够接触周围广阔而多样化的世界。


Focussing on the exploration of 'Who We Are' over the upcoming weeks, our school community will engage in a variety of learning experiences that address key aspects of this valuable theme of study, from that of the nature of self to human relationships and one's beliefs and values. 

在接下来的几周里,我校社区将专注于探索“我们是谁”,从自我的本质到人际关系和个人信仰与价值观,我们将参与各种各样的学习体验,设法解决这个有价值的研究主题。

FOUNDATION



Foundation will explore the role of friends and the way in which 'Play contributes to learning'. 

Foundation将探讨朋友的角色和“游戏有助于学习”的方式。

K1

PART/2

K1 will identify and describe their individual characteristics focusing on how an 'Understanding of oneself builds relationships'.

K1将识别并描述他们的个人特征,重点是了解自己如何建立人际关系”。


K2



K2 will utilise problem-solving skills to create strategies which will help them to approach team challenges as they come to recognise how 'Understanding ourselves enables us to work together'. 

K2将利用解决问题的能力来制定策略,这将帮助他们应对团队挑战,他们逐渐认识到“了解自己使大家能共事”。

K3 & G1



K3 and Grade 1 will compare and contrast their abilities, likes, interests and aspects of their physical self as they gain an understanding of how 'An awareness of self and others may guide development'. 

K3和G1将分析他们的能力、爱好、兴趣和身体的相似和不同之处,以了解“自我和他人的意识如何引导发展”。


G2 & G3



Grade 2 and Grade 3 will conduct in-depth research about their families and share the discoveries that they make about their own traditions, as they gain an awareness of how 'Family histories may shape personal identity'. 

G2和G3的学生将对他们的家庭进行深入的研究,并分享他们对自己的传统的发现,他们了解到“家庭历史可能会塑造个人身份”。

G4 & G5

Grade 4 and Grade 5 will examine the role that social interactions play in their daily lives, using their critical thinking skills to manage conflict, as they explore the way in which 'Relationships can develop through understanding perspectives.’

G4和G5将考察社会互动在他们日常生活中扮演的角色,利用他们的批判性思维技能来处理冲突,同时探索“人际关系可以通过理解不一样的视角来发展”。


G6



Grade 6 will connect to the multiple ways in which they can use their literacy, mathematics, social studies and scientific knowledge to express their unique perspectives about the living communities in which they currently exist and will make connections to the way in which their local environment is impacted by their personal relationships and culture, analysing and evaluating ‘Who we Are’ as a society.

G6学生将通过多种方式,利用他们的文学、数学、社会研究和科学知识来表达对当前生活社区的独特看法,并与他们的个人关系和文化对当地环境的影响方式建立联系,从社会的角度来分析和评估“我们是谁”。
