G6 (Mr. Du)

In Language and Literature class, grade 6 students have been learning the unit Narrative Prose. Students are not only learning to analyze and create prose, but also reading "Selected Prose of Zhu Ziqing". After reading, the students chose the article they were most interested in and gave an oral presentation. They shared the background of the work, analyzed the main content, and shared their reading experiences with other classmates.


G6 (Ms. Echo)

In Ms. Echo’s class, grade 6 language acquisition phase 4 students have been learning the topic School life. Students made their own Chinese vocabulary flashcards to play games in class, and in this process, they not only practiced writing Chinese characters but also trained their ability to quickly match meaning, character and read them. They had a lot of fun during this practice.

G7 (Ms. Summer & Ms.Miko)

In Ms. Summer & Ms. Miko G7 Chinese language & literature class, students focused on learning how to analyze characters in novels this week. They engaged in group collaboration and selected Guy de Maupassant's "My Uncle Jules" as the subject of analysis, with a particular emphasis on studying three main characters. 


G7 (Ms. Tina)

In Ms. Tina’s G7 Mandarin Language Acquisition class, students continued to study Unit 1 “Friendship”. The students not only learned new words and grammar structures, but also strengthened their memory through a series of activities and group cooperation. They have practiced their ATL skills of cooperation and communication.

G8 (Ms. Lisa & Ms. Tina)

In Ms. Lisa & Ms. Tina G.8 Chinese language and literature class, we raised a topic that ‘the development of science and technology’ VS ‘maintaining ethics’ while learning science fiction. Students were divided into different groups to prepare for the debate and then had a debate one to one. Both two sides put forward wonderful ideas for the debate due to good preparation. And students had wonderful performances during the debate because of their amazing critical thinking skills.

G9 (Ms. Tina)

In Ms. Tina’s G9 Language and Literature class, students continued to study the novel “To Live”, they were divided into different groups to read and inquiry the different characters in the novel. At the end of the week, each group presented their thoughts and results to the entire class, analyzing the personality traits of different characters in the novel, as well as the author's writing skills. 


G9 (Ms. Lisa)

In Ms. Lisa’s G.9 Mandarin Language Acquisition class, students have been learning our first inquiry unit ‘Abilities and Opportunities’ in the global context of Identity and Relationships. We focused on the key concept of Communication and related concepts of Purpose & Meaning. Students practiced and made drills of vocabulary, sentences and texts in different ways every day. They also developed their communication skills through various activities.


G10 (Ms. Echo & Ms. Miko)

In Ms. Echo and Miko's grade 10 language literature has been learning the topic of the Nineteen Ancient Poem 《古诗十九首》. After studying three poems, "Gathering Water Chestnuts" 《涉江采芙蓉》, "An Unusual Tree in the Courtyard" 《庭中有奇树》, and "Walking Repeatedly" 《行行重行行》, the students engaged in lively discussions and group comparisons using the knowledge they gained from studying poetry.


G11  Chinese A (Ms. Miko)

This week in Ms. Miko’s G11 Chinese A class, G11 students were encouraged to share their opinions about “how language can shape our minds”. They discussed the Expressing Identity. Language is closely tied to personal and group identity. The languages we speak can influence how we perceive ourselves and how others perceive us. It can shape our sense of belonging and help us connect with others who share the same language and culture.


G11 & G12  Chinese B (Ms. Fiona)

In Ms. Fiona’s G11 Mandarin B class, students are accumulating the basic words in the topic Human Ingenuity. They practiced the usage of the vocabulary and shared how to use them in the real contexts. In order to check whether they mastered these words, they played a memory game to test themselves by using the words in the sentences. After this activity, they all showed a good understanding of the new words.


G12 Chinese A (Ms. Michelle)

In Michelle’s G12 this week, students pre-read three articles related to narrative techniques before class. During mandarin class, students had a group discussion about the article they assigned and wrote the key points down on the paper. Each round there was a leader to represent. When the listeners clearly understand the points, he or she may become the presenter for the next round. Each of them can be a listener or a presenter. Students got familiar with the concept discussed in the article and could apply it to paper 2 writing.

Grade 1 (Katija Bogdanic)

We were all working hard on our final drafts of our towns and dots inspired by the illustrations from the book “Mixed” by Arree Chung. The artists drew elements of their town on big paper using their imagination and creativity. Next week they will be ready to add watercolor to the final drafts.


Grade 2 (Katija Bogdanic)

This week the artists started their linoleum leaf prints! We learned about printmaking artists and looked at different examples of linoleum prints. The artists were monitored in small groups during the carving process. While some artists were carving their linoleum blocks, the rest of the class used watercolors for their observational paintings.


Grade 3 (Katija Bogdanic)

This week the artists finished their final drafts of their bamboo paintings. We will be doing a gallery walk and respond to each other’s work. We will start working with acrylic paint and color theory in preparation for our Fauvist Landscape project.


Grade 4 (Katija Bogdanic)

The artists are finishing their final drafts of their Identity Projects connected to their homeroom unit of inquiry, “Who We Are”. We will have our final gallery walk and respond to each other’s work. The artists will fill out their own self-assessment rubric for the project.


Grade 5 (Katija Bogdanic)

This week we finished our weavings and started our new project within our Threads and Textiles unit. We watched a documentary of a textile artist named Victoria Villasana and discussed different ways color and pattern can transform photographs. The artists learned how to do several types of stitches, how to tie knots, and create patterns with thread.

Grade 6 (Roxane Joubert)

With UNIT 1’s emphasis on technology in art, our Grade 6 students successfully completed a practical module on digital art. They skillfully transformed hand-drawn sketches into digital masterpieces. Towards the end of the week, they inquired into utilizing artistic command terms to create AI reference images, laying the foundation for their upcoming final hand-drawn summative assessments.


Grade 7 (Roxane Joubert)

Grade 7 students had an engaging week. We continued our active exploration of colour theory, with students sourcing reference images online for their upcoming summative assessment. The application of the law of thirds in transferring images to canvas was a highlight. Towards the end of the week, we got hands-on with paint, custom mixing colour and experimenting with techniques with the aim to create visually captivating artworks.


Grade 8 (Roxane Joubert)

G8 students enthusiastically began conceptualizing their maquette sculptures. Equipped with an understanding of the 11 types of sculpture, they diligently explored diverse materials, approaches, and sculpting techniques to generate six new and exciting concept sketches. Towards the latter part of the week, we began developing our written proposals which will outline the intended purpose and placement of our public sculpture. Their creativity and research efforts should result in a pleasing outcome for their upcoming sculptural projects.







Grade 9 (Lucian Stefanescu)

Linear perspective is an approximate representation of an image as viewed in reality, generally on a two-dimensional surface. The most characteristic feature of linear perspective is the illusion of space and depth it gives on a flat surface. In a linear perspective drawing all objects recede to points in the distance along the horizon line, and sometimes above and below the horizon line depending on the view used.

Grade 9 started their summative assessment task, the design of their dream house using two-point perspective method.


Grade 10 (Lucian Stefanescu)

Installation art is an artistic genre of three-dimensional works that are often site specific and designed to transform the perception of space. Generally, the term is applied to interior spaces, whereas exterior interventions are often called public art, land art or land intervention. During this unit, students will study and understand installation art in its environmental context, while applying their newly acquired to creating a three-dimensional artwork of their own to be exhibited in an environment of their choice. During this week, Grade 10 students continued working on their installation art maquette.


Grade 12 (Lucian Stefanescu)

In Diploma Programme, our student continued her previous year’s work on her portfolio and started her independent studies lens unit, studying DSLR cameras and their manual settings. This week she practiced the capture of movement using various shutter speeds and panning technique.

Pre-K (Darren Bayotlang)

After several weeks of adjusting to the classroom routine and environment, the Prek’s finally had their class in the music classroom this week. It was an exciting change for the kids as they got to experience a different environment and immerse themselves in the unique characteristics of the music classroom. 


K1 (Darren Bayotlang)

This week in our music class, our K1 students had an amazing time exploring different voices. We focused on recognizing and distinguishing between the "Singing, Whisper, and Shouting" voices. By encouraging active participation in these vocal exercises, the students enjoyed and developed their self-management skills.


K2 & K3 (Darren Bayotlang)

This week in our music class, we had an exciting focus on exploring different types of voices and developing our ability to distinguish between singing, speaking, shouting, and thinking voices. Through engaging vocal exercises and activities, the students had the opportunity to discover the unique qualities and expressions of each voice type. Additionally, we incorporated movement to match the dynamic changes in "Ballet Muzik by Bach.”

Grade 1 (Snow Zhou)

In Grade 1, students had a joyful week as they learned the song "Apple Tree." They sang and danced to it while discovering what high and low melodies in music mean. They're beginning to understand how different musical notes can make music sound happy or sad. Music is important for Grade 1 students as it helps them express themselves and understand emotions. Singing and playing music aids in their overall development and makes learning fun.

Grade 2 (Snow Zhou)

Grade 2 students had an exciting time creating their very own melodies. They used high and low sounds to make music that's unique to them. This hands-on experience is helping them become more confident in making music. Grade 2 students recognize the importance of music in fostering their creativity and boosting self-confidence. Music encourages them to explore their imagination and brings joy to their learning experience.

Grade 3 (Snow Zhou)

This week, Grade 3 students learned the catchy song "Lemon Tree" and played a fun music game together. This not only helped them enjoy music but also taught them how to work as a team in making beautiful sounds. In Grade 3, music plays a crucial role in building teamwork and communication skills. Through music, students learn to collaborate, listen, and respect one another's contributions.

Grade 4 (Snow Zhou)

In Grade 4, kids started to explore musical notes, like the building blocks of music. They even got to make their rhythms, which means they created their own beats in music. Learning about musical notes and rhythms enhances their cognitive skills and creativity. The students did a fantastic job.


Grade 5 (Snow Zhou)

Grade 5 students had an adventurous week filled with rhythm exercises and drumming. They learned how to keep a steady beat and played drums to create different sounds in music. In Grade 5, music serves as a medium for self-expression and stress relief. It enables students to channel their emotions positively and provides a sense of accomplishment through their musical achievements. Well done!


Grade 6 (Jose Correia)

Grade 6 It's working the unit "An Introduction to Theatre," offers students an exciting exploration of the captivating world of theatre. Throughout the course, students will become familiar with essential theatre terminology, discover the diverse practices of theatre around the globe, and engage in a variety of stimulating activities such as script work and devising.


Grade 8 (Jose Correia)

Grade 8 is working on body percussion with harmony, in which they have to compose a harmonic sequence with melody, finger snap, hand clap, chest, legs and vocal sounds.


Grade 9 (Jose Correia)

In this unit students will explore the performance and analysis of a piece of music in which they have to choose a piece and analyze it in detail using four of the musical elements.


Grade 10 (Jose Correia)

They are working in the IB Areas of Inquiry (World Music for sociocultural and political expression, listening and performance, dramatic impact, movement and entertainment, technology in the electronic and digital age.

Grade 7 (Jonny Turvey)

This week, Grade 7 students have been doing their final rehearsals for their short scenes, based on particular eras of theatre history. We have also been choosing costumes and props that are appropriate for the chosen era, be it Elizabethan, Renaissance or Medieval. After this final week of rehearsals, students are ready to perform next week in what promises to be an exciting and educational experience for all.


Grade 10 (Jonny Turvey)

This week, Grade 10 students have been polishing and finessing their Shakespeare sonnets in preparation for their performances next week. The students have been working hard on a variety of performance ideas, including musical, visual and dramatic art. The performances promise to be special and we can't wait to see what the students produce.
