自从电影业发展以来，电影制作工艺发生了巨大的变化。由于最初的摄影机太大无法移动，所以没有镜头的转移，拍摄景象通常像在剧院里固定播放。随着更好的摄影机的诞生，导演和摄影师能够在拍摄电影时使用更多的场景转换和不同的拍摄距离，这不仅创造了更多有趣的电影，还创造了一种新的视觉语言，使我们能够以不同的方式理解正在发生的事情。
The craft of making movies has changed massively since cinema was developed. The first cameras were too large to move, so there was no camera movement and scenes were often filmed like a theatre.
As better cameras were created, directors and camera operators were able to use more movement and different shot distances when making a movie. This didn’t just create more interesting films, it created a new visual language, that allowed us to understand what is happening in a different way.

New technology has made the interplay between language and video increasingly important and learning how to effectively master these skills is an increasingly important step in learning to succeed in a number of different fields.
今年的全校英语日与从前有所不同，英语组老师为学生设计了一个更长期、更深入的学习项目。全体学生被分成小组，完成准备、拍摄和剪辑短片的任务。OCIS鼓励学生掌握21世纪的各种重要技能，包括协作、数字技术素养和批判性思维。
This year’s Whole School English day is a little different from what we have done before, as it will create a longer and more in-depth learning project for our students. Both Primary and High School students are splited into groups and given a task to prepare, shoot and edit their own short movie projects.This project encourages students in a full range of important 21st century skills including collaboration, digital literacy and critical thinking skills.
今天主要任务的第一项是完成前期制作。首先，英语老师向同学们详细介绍了电影和视频创作中会用到的技能、技巧和词汇，教授学生在体裁、分镜、摄像和剧本写作方面所需的所有基本知识。
Today, we launched the event with a day dedicated to the pre-production processes of making a movie or TV show. Firstly, a group of English teachers outlined valuable skills, techniques and vocabulary used in the creation of film and video, gave students all of the basic knowledge they needed in terms of genre, storyboards, camera work and script-writing.
随后，学生们需要塑造一个情节和人物，准备一份“电梯演讲”供老师审核。一旦完成，他们将开始制作分镜。整个过程，学生们的英语写作技能，以及艺术创作和沟通、组织能力都会得到很大的提升。
Students have to formulate a plot and characters, before preparing an ‘elevator pitch’ for teacher approval. Once this is done they will begin the process of storyboarding their production, a team effort that will focus on their English writing skills, coupled with artistic and organisational abilities.
今天所有团队都完成了一系列任务，包括制作大量的分镜，然后进入拍摄阶段。在接下来的六个月里，我们鼓励学生完成他们的剧本和分镜，然后拍摄和剪辑短片。待到2024年春天，我们将举办第一届OCIS学生电影节，届时我们将观看所有视频成品，并进行颁奖。
At the end of the day, all teams are expected to have completed a number of tasks, including the creation of extensive storyboards, that they will then take forwards into the production phase. Over the next six months, students will be encouraged to complete their scripts and storyboards, then shoot and edit their short movies. This will culminate in Spring with our first Student Film Festival, where we will view all the completed videos and awards will be given for a range of skills and accomplishments.
ENGLISH DAY
英文写作靠的不应是辞藻堆砌和死记硬背，语言教学的目标也不应仅仅是增加词汇量，而是要给孩子的想象力插上翅膀，帮助他们放飞梦想，当孩子们对写作真正有了自己完整的解读与领悟后，其实他们已经架构了一个属于自己的美好世界，而这将是他们这一生都不可或缺的本领。
English writing should not rely solely on rhetoric and rote memorization, and the goal of language teaching should not only be to increase vocabulary, but also to give wings to children's imagination and help them fly their dreams. When children truly have their own complete interpretation and understanding of writing, they have actually constructed their own beautiful world, which will be an indispensable skill for their entire life.
