在BMH幼儿园,我们有一门很“神奇”而“特别”的课程——教育戏剧。它有着戏剧教育的形式,却又有别于传统意义上倾向展示或表演的戏剧课;它让孩子进入故事,但又让孩子们创造自己的情节;它注重感受与表达,可没有任何正确答案。


是不是感觉有些莫名的抽象?别着急,今天我们就一起来了解一下这门受到众多孩子们喜爱,而且每一节课都很有意思的教育戏剧课程是如何在BMH幼儿园全面开花的。




先来问问——

什么是“教育戏剧”?





教育戏剧是一种教学方法和创造活动,它不等同于戏剧教育。传统戏剧倾向于以展示或者表演为形式和手法,而教育戏剧重视的是孩子们自身在参与过程中的体验及学习



不管是短视频、新闻、绘本或者动画片中,我们总能嗅到一股“道理的味道”。无论我们采取怎样开放的教养方式,始终难以抑制内心的想法,想要将成年人的直接经验和某种价值观传递给孩子们。


在教育戏剧中,一切则显得那么的不同。教育戏剧的故事并没有事先设定的正确答案,而是根据孩子们正在成长的阶段,寻找一个与他们共鸣的话题,一个适应他们年龄发展特点的核心问题。围绕问题和概念,创设情境,保护入戏,展开想象,打开空间,邀请孩子们进入故事,感同身受进而充分的表达观点。



孩子们可以尽情展现他们的想法,畅所欲言。他们的声音被重视,他们的观点被倾听。每个孩子都能展现自己的独特魅力,成为自己的主角。

“教育戏剧”如何在BMH呈现?





目前,BMH幼儿园将教育戏剧应用在我们的特色中文课程中。教师和孩子们以经典的中文绘本为蓝本,在课上一步一步,一个情节一个情节地共同创编出了《不会吼叫的小狮子》、《松鼠与鸟蛋》、《方格子老虎》、《野兽国》、《糖果屋》等多个精彩剧本。



虽然教育戏剧并不以舞台展演为目的,但它却在老师和孩子们之间构筑了一个共同创作的舞台。在这个舞台上,我们一同打造着独特的情境和故事,通过表演、提问、戏剧活动、游戏和物件等元素,激发孩子们的思考,给予他们真正感知这个世界的机会。孩子们既是剧本中的角色,又是他们自己。他们获得一个安全的空间,借助一个角色安全地表达自己,疗愈自己的情绪。




幼儿园老师们则师从于国内知名教育戏剧专家,在每一个剧本开展前她们都会认真地集体教研,精心准备每个戏剧活动,在课程开展过程中运用多种教学策略,在每一节课结束时,老师们都会悉心地复盘总结。


有专业教师团队引导,孩子们又能充分发挥主观能动性的教育戏剧课程则深受孩子们的喜爱,每当一个剧本结束时,他们常常会翘首以盼:“老师,什么时候再上戏剧课呀?

离开课堂,日常生活中,家长也可以运用教育戏剧的思维方式和方法,激发孩子们的思维能力、创造力和合作精神。比如:


提出开放性问题

避免简单的是非题,而是提出需要思考和解释的问题,例如,为什么要懂礼貌呢?如果你拥有超能力,你会用它来做什么呢?

创造故事情境

与孩子一起阅读一部书籍或观看一段电影,邀请孩子分享对故事的想法和感受。

鼓励角色扮演

准备一些角色扮演的道具或服装,让孩子扮演不同的角色,并参与到故事情境中。

思辨讨论场景

安排一些家庭讨论时间,让孩子就某个话题发表观点,并提供自己的理由。例如讨论小朋友可以使用手机吗?动物应该被囚禁在动物园吗?

At BMH Pre School, we offer an exceptional course called "Drama in education" which has a magical and unique quality. Although it falls under the category of drama education, it differs significantly from traditional drama lessons that typically centre around scripted shows or performances. Instead, our approach allows children to immerse themselves in the story while also giving them the freedom to create their own plot. Through this method, we aim to enhance their ability to express emotions, but without enforcing constraints or rules.


Does it feel abstract? Fear not, today we'll delve into how BMH Pre school's ‘Drama in education’course is thriving, adored by many children and providing endless fun in each lesson.




What is

Drama in education?





Drama in education (D.I.E) is a pedagogical technique and creative pursuit which varies from drama lessson. Although traditional drama is typically showcased or acted out, the emphasis of D.I.E is on children's personal involvement and learning through participation.



Whether it's a brief video, the news, a picture book, or an animated film, we can always sense the "purpose". However accepting we are of modern-day parenting, we cannot avoid the inclination to impart to our children the firsthand wisdom of adults and certain principles.


In the field of D.I.E, the approach differs significantly. Rather than providing a fixed solution, it aims to identify subjects that resonate with children's developmental stage, encompassing a central aspect tailored to their age and characteristics. By creating scenarios and supporting the theatre, we cultivate creativity, liberate the mind and entice the participants to join the narrative, encourage empathy and freely articulate their perspectives.



Children can express their thoughts and opinions openly and without restraint. We value and actively listen to every child's ideas, allowing them to embrace their individuality and become the protagonist of their own story.




How does BMH 

do "D.I.E"?





D.I.E is currently being used in our unique Chinese curriculum at BMH Pre school. Teachers and pupils utilize classic Chinese picture books as inspiration to collaboratively design a range of thrilling plays during lessons, scene by scene. These imaginative productions include The Little Lion Who Couldn't Roar, The Squirrel and the Bird's Eggs, The Tiger of the Square Plate, The Land of the Beasts, and The Candy House.



D.I.E is not a stage show, but a platform for teachers and children to co-create. Together, we build unique scenarios and narratives that incite children's intellectual curiosity, allow them to comprehend the world by utilising methods like acting, questioning, theatre activities, games and objects. In this context, the children play roles in the plot while being themselves. They are provided with a secure environment to comfortably communicate their emotions and recover with the aid of a character.




The kindergarten teachers received training from renowned domestic experts in D.I.E. Ahead of each lessons, they devotedly engaged in collaborative teaching and research, fastidiously planned every theatrical activity, employed a range of instructive strategies during the lesson, and ended each class with a thorough review and summarization of the session.




How can D.I.E 

support children's development??





Having worked with children on several stories, it is evident that the program has undergone several positive changes that have significantly impacted their personality development——


-Presentation and communication skills


-Empathy


-Imagination & Creativity


-Co-operation and teamwork


-Critical thinking




Away from the classroom, in daily life, parents can apply the principles and techniques of D.I.E to foster their children's critical thinking, imagination, and teamwork. For instance:


Ask open-ended questions

Avoid basic queries of correctness and instead prompt questions that necessitate introspection and elaboration. For example, what is the significance of being courteous? Assuming you possessed a superpower, how would you employ it?

Creating a Story setting

Read a book or watch a film with your child and invite them to share their thoughts and feelings about the story.

Encourage role-playing

Prepare some role-playing props or costumes for your child to play different roles and participate in story situations.

Critical Discussion

Arrange some family discussion time where children can express their views on a topic and provide their reasons. For example, discuss whether children can use mobile phones? Should animals be kept in captivity in zoos?



D.I.E is more than a mere teaching technique - it is the gateway to unlocking children's imagination and creativity. Our classroom has been filled with peals of laughter, and we hope that BMH's D.I.E can help students develop a stronger appreciation for life. We encourage children to be brave and bold, willing to experiment, to expand their horizons, to practice empathy towards others, and ultimately, to become the best themselves.
