In G1 this week, our parents visited us for our Showcase: the very first Parent Job/Role Fair! Students had previously created the interview questions and they spent the job/role fair going around and interviewing all of our different parent guests about their jobs, roles, and how they impact the community. The students had a focus on asking their parents how they solved problems in their jobs and roles!

Grade 2

This week in second grade, our students ventured into the world of writing! They embraced their role as authors wonderfully! The students became great researchers as they utilized their skills to gather information about their chosen animal through various sources such as books, interviews, and digital resources. With their newfound knowledge, they skillfully crafted an informational book, fascinating our community with facts, captivating diagrams and visual aids. The culmination of this extraordinary endeavor was our eagerly awaited book fair, where our young authors proudly presented their published works to our school community. Congratulations to our diligent and talented writers for their outstanding efforts!

Our weekly highlight has been visiting the book fair and allowing the kids to read the books in class. A particularly enjoyable activity was reading and explaining the stories to each other, providing a fun and rewarding experience for all.

In addition to this, the students are diligently gearing up for our upcoming assembly and poetry cafe next week. They are working hard, and we look forward to seeing parents there to support their children during these events.

Grade 4

Adam Fell and Carla Du Toit

The Grade 4 classes were excited to have parents attend a special showcase of their final project for the unit on Planetary Bodies. The students explored natural processes that shape the Earth's crust, with a specific focus on volcanoes, earthquakes, and the ocean floor. The showcase provided an opportunity for parents to witness the remarkable depth of understanding and enthusiasm their children had developed throughout this unit.

During the showcase, the students' work highlighted the embodiment of the Learner Profile attributes: Communicators, Knowledgeable, and Thinkers. The communicator's attribute was evident in the articulate and engaging presentations the students had prepared to convey complex concepts to their peers and parents. Their knowledge of the subject matter was reflected in the depth of research and understanding demonstrated in their projects. From the inner workings of volcanoes to the seismic forces that lead to earthquakes, the students had become experts in these geological processes. The parent showcase was a great success and we are looking forward to the next one!

Grade 5

Ms. Patricia Larrondo and Mr. Matthew Facey
