本周四，美国威睿达思学校切萨皮克校区的校长Mark Keating先生来到了深圳校区，为深圳校区的师生们开展了一系列与VCA文化相关的讲座。在这一天半的时间里，VCASZ的师生们受益良多。

This Thursday, Mr. Mark Keating, the principal of Chesapeake campus (U.S.) of VCA, came to Shenzhen to conduct a series of lectures related to VCA culture for the teachers and students here. During this one and a half day, we benefited a lot.

美国威睿达思学校是全美排名前50的顶尖私立K12学校，VCASZ是美国威睿达思学校的直属中国分校区之一，在此就读的学生们在高中的最后一年需要前往美国总校区进行进一步的生活与学术转轨适应，而在这最后一年里，Mark Keating先生将会作为同学们的校长，在他们高中通往大学的道路尽头为他们推开那扇象征着成功的大门。

Veritas Collegiate Academy is a U.S. top 50 private K12 school. VCASZ is one of the directly operated Chinese branch campuses of VCA, whose students will need to travel to the main campus during their final year of high school to make further academic transitions, and Mr. Mark Keating will act as the principal of the students in this final year to open the door to success at the end of their high school road to college.

Mark校长一抵达便在电梯口受到了同学们的热烈欢迎，由学生会主席Milly作为代表，给Mark校长送上了师生们亲自为他准备的鲜花。

Upon his arrival, Mr. Keating was warmly welcomed by the students at the elevator entrance. Milly, the president of the Student Council, as a representative, presented him with flowers prepared by the students and faculty.

Mark校长特意准备了一节VCA特色课程领导力课程（Leadership）——这门课程将会是学生们最后一年到美国校区的必修课。

Mr. Keating has prepared a presentation on VCA's signature course, Leadership - a course that will be mandatory for students in their final year at the U.S. campus.

根据Mark校长的介绍，领导力课程是一门培养孩子们社会适应能力和为人处世方式的课程，而课程对于社会运行模式的学习、针对待人接物的训练、以及加强决策力、洞察力、自信心等方面的练习都是以培养未来各行各业各领域的领袖为目的，来设计整个的课程体系的。

According to Mark, the Leadership Program is a program that develops children's social adaptability and ways of conducting themselves, and the learning of social patterns, training in how to deal with people, and exercises to strengthen decision-making, insight, and self-confidence are all designed with the aim of developing future leaders in all walks of life and in all fields of endeavor.

通过修读领导力课程，VCA的学生们能够更好地适应更高等级的学习环境与社交环境，也更容易在新的环境中建立起属于自己的人脉社交网络。

By taking the Leadership Program, VCA students are better able to adapt to higher-level learning and social environments, and are more likely to build their own social networks in new campuses.

除了热情的孩子们之外，老师们也对于Mark校长的到来表示了由衷的期待。由目前教授计算机科学（AP Computer Science）的Vico老师、教授文学的Kirk、Daniel老师、教授数学（AP Calculus&Pre-Calculus）的Michael老师作为教师代表向Mark校长提问。

In addition to the enthusiastic children, the teachers were also looking forward to Mark's arrival. Mr. Vico, who currently teaches Computer Science (AP Computer Science), Mr. Kirk and Mr. Daniel, who teach Literature, and Mr. Michael, who teaches Mathematics (AP Calculus & Pre-Calculus), asked questions as the teachers' representatives to Mark.

Mark校长通过各位老师的问题，为大家做了VCA的教学体系与文化培训，通过Mark校长的培训，老师们也对自己所教授的科目有了更加整体的认识，同时也对VCA建校20年来奉行至今的古典精英教学体系有了更加深刻的理解。

Mark gave a training on VCA's teaching system and culture. Through Mark's training, the teachers also gained a more holistic understanding of the subjects they teach, as well as a deeper understanding of the Classical Elite Teaching System, which has been practiced by VCA since its founding 20 years ago.

在成为VCA的校长之前，Mark曾经是一位资深的Omnibus（文史综合）老师。Omnibus是一门结合了文学与历史的标志性VCA课程，每位学生每年的必修课清单中都会有不同等级的Omnibus课程出现，这也是美国古典精英教学体系的一个具现化特征。

Prior to becoming principal of VCA, Mark was once teaching Omnibus, a signature VCA course that combines literature and history, and it appears in  student's annual list of required courses, which is an embodied feature of the Elite Classical American Teaching System.

Mark校长非常重视VCASZ文学方面的课堂效果，所以他选择了三名文学课外教，Abdiel、Kirk和Daniel老师的课，亲自进入课堂，为三位老师的课堂效果把关诊脉，确保VCASZ的Omnibus类课程能够和美国总校区一脉相承，原汁原味地呈现给同学们。

Mark attaches great importance to the VCASZ's literature classes, so he chose three literature teachers, Abdiel, Kirk, and Daniel, to personally enter the classroom to ensure that VCASZ's Omnibus classes are in the same vein as the U.S. main campus, and that they are presented to the students in their original design.

为了感谢Mark校长短短一天半内就对于整个VCASZ校园产生的巨大影响，同学们给Mark校长写了感谢信，装在信封里送给了他。而校长与老师们也准备了一副中国山水水墨画作为纪念品送给了Mark校长。

To thank Mr. Keating for the impact he had on the entire VCASZ campus in just one and a half days, the students wrote letters of appreciation to him and presented them in envelopes. The principal and teachers also prepared an ink painting of a Chinese landscape as a souvenir for Mark.

即将到来的寒假，VCASZ的许多孩子们即将前往美国校区进行为期16天的冬令营活动，在不久的将来也会和Mark校长在美国校区重新会面。临走之前，Mark校长表达了自己对师生们的美好祝福，并和冬令营的同学约定好一起在美国校区体验美国的冬天。

Many of the VCASZ students will be traveling to U.S. main campus for the upcoming winter break for a 16-day winter camp, and will be reuniting with Mark at the U.S. campus in the near future. Before leaving, Mark expressed his best wishes to the students and teachers here, and promised to experience the American winter together with the winter camp students at the US campus.

VCASZ is the 12th campus of Veritas Collegiate Academy worldwide. At present, education and teaching resources are shared with the U.S. headquarter in depth, and in the future, we will plan different activities to deepen the close communication and exchanges between the two campuses to provide each student with an original American elite education. Entering the Shenzhen campus is equivalent to studying in the U.S. high school, with admission that is registered in the U.S. school registration, which is recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and the top schools - to achieve the realization of studying abroad at home.
