BeeMee Forest Academy IEYC theme units are based on four learning strands. Combined with the UK National EYFS Framework, which is based on holistic inquiry and game teaching methods, learning is tailored to meet individual learning and development needs of children. Through multi-cultural development and international perspective each child is prepared academically and emotionally as future global citizens.

In November, embarking on the whimsical journey encapsulated within the IEYC theme "Imagine That", BeeMee's young learners have seamlessly woven creativity, exploration and collaboration into their daily adventures. In the enchanting world of Spiraling Snails and vibrant Tingatinga art, we witness the fusion of artistic expression with invaluable learning experiences.

Y1A Wisteria  紫藤树班

The young minds of Y1A were captivated by a charming story depicting the journey of a seed evolving into a vibrant flower. The immersive storytelling session not only introduced the children to the intricacies of a plant's life cycle but also laid the foundation for a holistic learning experience.

To reinforce this newfound knowledge, a lively garden dance engaged the students in physical movement, aligning with the stages of a flower's growth. Jumping to the rhythm added a kinesthetic element, making the learning process not just educational but also enjoyable. Following the dance, a quick vocabulary review session emphasized key words associated with flowers, such as "stem, root, seed, soil and flower", enhancing the children's language development. The day reached its artistic zenith as each child painted their own flowers using their thumbs for petals, unleashing a spectrum of colours and fostering creativity.

The hands-on construction at the dedicated block stations not only fueled excitement for learning but also laid a foundation for effective communication - a crucial aspect of the early years journey.

In K1B’s class, the exploration of the captivating world of shapes took center stage. Commencing the session with a review of basic shapes – circle, rectangle, square and triangle – the children actively participated, showcasing their comprehension of these fundamental geometric forms.

An engaging lesson of learning and creativity commenced in K1C. The children’s exploration into the world of Spiraling Snails, inspired by modern art from Jo Saxon, kicked off the class with a burst of enthusiasm. Each child had the opportunity to draw a snail on A4 paper, painting it with a rich dark blue hue. Following the footsteps of the renowned artist Matisse, the children then cut colored papers into various shapes and colors, mirroring the vibrant and abstract imagery characteristic of his work.

We are immensely proud of the creativity and effort displayed by each child during this Spiraling Snails art session.

Beginning with a review of fundamental shapes - square, rectangle, circle, triangle, and heart—the children not only recognized these shapes but also engaged in a tactile practice using their fingers, fostering a kinesthetic connection with geometry. The introduction of Mondrian's art added an artistic layer to the lesson, as the children eagerly identified the shapes hidden within the vibrant patterns, connecting the world of shapes to the realm of artistic expression.

To further reinforce this message, the class undertook a collaborative project, creating a giant Elmer using scrap cloth cut into squares. Each child contributed by affixing their square to the elephant, symbolizing the strength and beauty of unity in diversity. This multifaceted exploration not only enriched the children's understanding of shapes but also instilled valuable life lessons of acceptance and self-expression.
