清澜山学校荣获美国大学理事会AP计算机科学女性多样性奖,成为全球834所获此殊荣的学校之一。该奖项旨在表彰清澜师生在AP计算机科学原理课程中取得的优异成绩,并表彰学校在鼓励女生参与计算机科学学习方面所取得的成就。 

 

在2022-2023学年,清澜山学校AP计算机科学原理(CSP)课程中,女生比例达到50%,同时,参加计算机科学考试的女生比例(50%)超过了学校女生总人数的比例(46.5%)。

数据显示,在高中学习 AP 计算机科学课程的女生在大学主修计算机科学专业的可能性是其他女生的五倍多,同时,这门课程是通往其他高阶 AP STEM 课程的重要基础。 

 

清澜山学校高度重视计算机科学,课程涵盖三至九年级的核心课程,以及多种课后选修课和课外活动。小学阶段,学生通过编程机器人数字公民信息技术等单元学习计算机科学的基础知识和信息素养。初中阶段,学生进入进阶编程,并将其技能应用于智能板机器人3D 打印机激光切割机等创新单元。高中学生可以选择修读一系列计算机科学课程,例如 IGCSE、A Level 和 AP,并探索他们感兴趣的计算机科学选修课。通过丰富多彩的课程、俱乐部、竞赛和科研活动,清澜山学校坚信计算机科学会帮助学生为未来做好准备。

Tsinglan School Earns College Board AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award 

Recognized for Improving Gender Representation in AP Computer Science Principles 


Dongguan, China ─ Tsinglan School has earned the College Board AP® Computer Science Female Diversity Award for achieving high female representation in AP Computer Science Principles. Tsinglan School was one of 834 schools recognized by this award for having expanded girls’ access in AP computer science courses.  


Tsinglan School achieved a 50% female representation in AP Computer Science Principles (CSP) course, and the percentage of the female computer science exam takers (50%) exceeded that of the school’s female population (46.5%) during the 2022-23 school year. 


“We’re thrilled to congratulate our female AP computer science students and their teachers on this step toward gender parity in computer science education,” said Principal Wenping Li. “We’re honored that our school earned this distinction and look forward to seeing these young women and others pursue and achieve success in computer science education and careers.” 


Providing female students with access to computer science courses is critical to ensuring gender parity in the industry’s high-paying jobs and to driving innovation, creativity, and representation. According to the data, female students who take AP CSP in high school are more than five times as likely to major in computer science in college, compared to female students of similar background and academic preparation who did not take CSP. AP CSP also serves as a stepping stone to other advanced AP STEM coursework. 


Tsinglan School is committed to developing future computer scientists through its carefully laid out curriculum. Our Computer Science (CS) program covers Grades 3-9 during core hours of the day with a variety of electives and extracurricular activities after the regular school hours. Our students learn the fundamentals of CS through block-based programming, robotics, digital citizenship and Information Technology (IT) units in the primary years. They then advance to text-based programming and apply their skills to creative projects involving smart boards and robotics, and other innovative units involving 3D printers and laser cutters. In High School, our students can choose from a range of externally assessed CS courses (e.g. IGCSE, A Level and AP) and explore IT elective ourses that interest them. Because Tsinglan believes that CS can help the students become more future-ready, the school supports different CS-leaning clubs, CS competitions, and CS research-oriented activities.
