预备部学生代表选举,从小培养领导力 Student Leadership in Prep School

在佛山霍利斯,学生领导力是学生发展的核心内容之一,也是我们全人教育的重点。我们的目标是将我们的学生培养成为自信的、具有社会责任感的领导者。我们致力于培养学生的合作能力和独立思考能力,让他们成长为关心社区发展的、有想法的领导者,脚踏实地将霍利斯社区建设成为一个快乐的学习空间。


领导力可以从小开始培养。从预备部开始,我们就已经开展了一些与学生年龄和能力匹配的领导力项目,例如学生代表。学生代表的使命与职责与我们预备部的教学理念相契合,就是让学习变得充满挑战与激情,富有趣味,并能激励所有人。



在这篇文章中,我们邀请预备部主任Ms Mandy Bateman,来为大家深入介绍学生代表们的角色和职责,以及这些“岗位“带来的成长机会。


预备部主任 Ms Bateman

Mandy Bateman女士毕业于剑桥大学的特殊教育需求硕士,并拥有长达25年的丰富任职经验,在英国本土学校,葡萄牙和埃及的国际学校担任教师及学校领导者等角色。


预备部学校委员会代表


我们希望学生意识到学习既是全面的也是相互交织的概念,这有助于他们能更深刻地理解和掌握周遭的世界。学校委员会的角色将帮助学生了解身边更广阔的世界,并懂得换位思考。



学校委员会代表们对于预备部以及预备部所有成员来说都是一个非常重要的角色。他们需要从班级中收集学生们的意见并在委员会会议上提出,提交同学们的想法和问题,探索解决方案并反馈给提出问题的同学,从而为所有成员创造一个安全和快乐的学习生活空间。


环保和体育大使


我鼓励学生做最真实的自己,不管他们现在的兴趣亦或未来的抱负是什么。当他们努力成为最好且最自信的自己时,他们会得到来自他人的善意关怀、尊重以及支持。生态环保大使和体育大使的角色将帮助学生探索及发展自己的兴趣爱好,同时又能够支持他人。



环保大使的职责包括照料学校的环境,以及进行环保宣传,呼吁每位成员们一起关注环保。大使们将会监督班级进行能源节约,在同学们的支持下实施回收计划,关注废弃物处理和节水节电。



体育大使需要发挥在体育课和体育活动中积极学习和参与体育运动的榜样作用,吸引和鼓励身边同学们一起参加运动。他们有机会负责运营预备部的运动俱乐部,提升人机交往能力和领导力。


班级代表


我们支持学生拥有更多的自主性,他们能够勇于参与实践、敢于表达观点、积极探索并接受新的挑战。他们能够以优秀的学生代表为参照,同时从同伴中获得积极启发与鼓舞。他们能建立自信,并孜孜不倦地习得助力他们未来通往成功的学识与技能。班级代表的角色意味着他(她)能为他人树立积极正向的榜样,并能够激励他们的同伴。



预备部的每个班级(4-6年级)都任命了自己的班级代表。他们是学生的楷模,在行为和学习方面树立高标准。他们以身作则,维护和发扬学校的价值观和精神。


学院队长


追求卓越,除了取得学业上的成功,我们更鼓励学生挖掘能转化成功的那些更深层次的因素。作为学院队长和学院副队长,他们将支持与督促其他学生,并始终坚信同伴能取得成功。



学院制度是英式学校的一个独特元素,它的建立是为了通过合作和良性竞争来促进个人成长和培养社区归属感。学院队长们需要保持热情,主动领导和激励学院的其他成员,动员大家一起参加学院挑战赛,包括学院音乐比赛、学院戏剧和体育会。



随着预备部的不断发展壮大,未来会涌现出更多的代表不同职责与使命的学生代表角色。我们由衷地期待学生的声音充斥在预备部的各个角落。我们鼓励孩子们为自己树立远大志向,不断提升、反思和塑造自己作为学习者的角色,并且在校园、当地和更广泛的社区中发挥自己的角色,成为一名富有责任感的社区公民。再次祝贺获得学生代表身份的每位同学,愿他们在新的角色岗位上发光发热。

At LEH International School Foshan, student leadership is one of the central strands of our student development and lies at the heart of our holistic education. We aim to prepare our students to be a confident, socially-minded leader – an independent thinker who collaborates with others, a grounded individual who aspires to make LEH Foshan a happy place to study, a thoughtful person who will both lead and care for our community. 


Great things start small, and young. From Prep School, we already start to offer age-and-competency customed leadership programmes, for example, the student roles. In October 2022 LEH Foshan saw its Prep school students gain their badges for the prep school student roles, including Class Representative, House Captain, School Council Representative, Sports Ambassador and Eco Ambassador. The responsibility of these roles fits in with Prep school’s Philosophy on teaching and learning to aim to make learning exciting, fun, and motivating for all.



In this article, we invite Ms Mandy Bateman, Head of Prep School to further introduce about the student roles and explain the benefits of these roles. 

Ms Bateman, Head of Prep School

Ms Mandy Bateman graduated from Cambridge University with a master's degree in SEN Education and has 25 years of experience as an educator and leader in both British and international schools in the UK, Portugal, and Egypt.


School Council Representative


We like our students to see learning as holistic and interwoven, which leads toward mastery and a deeper understanding of the world around them. The school council’s role will help the students to understand the wider world around them and take the thoughts of others into consideration.



School Council Representatives play a vital role in looking after our Prep School and everyone in it. They gather suggestions from the class and bring them to the school council meetings, as well as report ideas and problems of their peers and report back with feedback and solutions, contributing to the making of a safe and happy place for us all. 


Eco and Sports Ambassador


We encourage students to be exactly who they are, whatever their current interests or future aspirations. They will benefit from the warmth, respect, and support of others around them as they stretch themselves to become their best, most confident selves. As Eco and Sports ambassadors, they will be able to explore their interests, whilst supporting others. 



Eco Ambassadors are entrusted with the responsibilities for the promotion of looking after the school environment and our role in looking after the world. The ambassadors oversee the need to save energy in the class, will implement (with the support of their peers) ways in which they can reuse or recycle. They ensure waste is kept to a minimum and that electricity/water is used wisely.



Sports Ambassadors are positive role models in learning and playing sports in PE lessons and activities, as well as in engaging and inspiring their peers in sports. Opportunities are presented to them to run the Sports Clubs and develop their interpersonal skills and leadership. 


Class Representative


We like students to have the freedom to experiment, express opinions, explore and take on new challenges. To be supported by strong role models and be inspired by their peers. To find the confidence and be able to acquire and build the skills they need to succeed throughout their lives. As class representatives, they will be able to become strong role models and inspire their peers.



Each class in school (Year 4-6) appoints their own Class Representative. They are model students who sets high standards with regard to behaviour and learning. They lead by example and can be relied upon to uphold the school values and ethos. 


House Captain


In addition to achieving academic success, we encourage students to commit to finding a deeper level of purpose that transforms into success. As house captains, and assistant house captains they will be able to support and mentor each student in the belief that they can achieve anything. 



The House System is a unique element of British schools and it is set up to encourage a sense of community and personal growth through cooperation and healthy competition. House Captains lead and motivate all House members in an enthusiastic, proactive manner and organize their Houses’ participation in House Challenges, including the House Music Competition, House Drama and Sports Day.



As the Prep school grows so will the roles of responsibility, we are really looking forward to having the student’s voice running through the prep school. We will encourage the children to have high expectations and to contribute towards, reflect on and shape their role as learners - in addition to being responsible members of the school, the local and the wider community.
