On November 2, students from Canadian International School Kunshan (CISK) took part in a football match against EtonHouse International School Suzhou (EHSZ). After coaching from Coach Regis and Mr Ashley, students from the Primary Years Programme (PYP) travelled to EtonHouse to test themselves in a real sporting event. Take a look at the diary written by Jimmie, a Grade 4 student, about this memorable day!

11月2日，昆山加拿大外籍人员子女学校（CISK）和苏州伊顿外籍人员子女学校（EHSZ）进行了一场足球友谊赛。小学部的学生们在Regis教练和Ashley老师的带领下前往伊顿参与了活动。来看看4年级的学生Jimmie在这难忘的一天写下的日记吧！

Dear Diary:

Today is the day that we had a soccer match with ‘Suzhou EtonHouse’. I was so nervous about the game. 

Our departure was 12:00p.m. after lunch, Mr.Regis and Mr.Ashley gave us a soccer uniform to show that we are the soccer players from CISK.

We lined up two by two and headed towards the bus. On the way to the bus, some of our friends and classmates were saying good luck and bye to us. 

It’s a long way from our school CISK to Etonhouse. When we were in the bus I was bored so I was playing some games with my friend Leon.

We arrived at EtonHouse an hour later. The first person that we met was Mr.Regis’s friend in EtonHouse, he is also a PE teacher from Brazil, they had known each other for a long time. We said hello and took a picture with him at the front gate. But before he led us to the gym, he showed us where can we get water and where the bathroom was.

We did some exercises and warm ups like we do in our PE lessons, before going out to the outside soccer field. Before the match, we did some 1v1 soccer drills. It was quite fun and it’s a good way for us to learn offence and defence while playing. 

After around 20 minutes, the EtonHouse soccer team players came. Both of our PE teachers gathered us together stating the rules again and setting up the strategy. 

And little bit of moment later we started the match. Till nearly the end, they scored 5 and we had 0. But one moment later, I was dribbling the ball as fast as I could with the ball and then I shot…I scored!

I was so happy that I scored the goal! When the game finished, the final result was 5-1. I was so disappointed that we lost but, it was fun and we shook hands with the EtonHouse team and headed home.

On our way back, Mr.Regis told us: I don’t care about the result, I only care about if you are happy or not and you learn something from it!

This is the spirit of sport!

Although we didn’t win, but we tried our best, and we believe that we can do better next time!

I had so much fun today, this was the best match of my life.
