Good morning!
I am Emma, from Y10. This is my second year at Harrow. In these two years, I have seen the school and the students change. The students have become more and more mature from their initial delicate appearance and the school management for students is getting even better.
Two years is nothing, but at the same time, a lot can be accomplished in two years. You can try a sport you've always wanted to start and become great at it. You can start a morning routine that may positively affect your mood and stress on a deep level. You can meditate for a few minutes per day, become more self-aware and change the way you react to problems or challenges.
Two years is nothing and extremely easy to waste. But with small actions, substantial commitment and consistency, you can really make it count, a lot. Two years being passive is gone in the blink of an eye. Two years moving towards goals every single day is plenty of time. There is nothing that cannot be accomplished in two years with enough determination and effort —— start something you've always wanted to do. You don't need more than two years, we should all empower our uniqueness and fight against our own limitations. By doing things you love on a daily basis, even for a few minutes, you'll learn to enjoy the journey. The days will become more than just a means to an end. You’ll see yourself evolving. Just be in control.
Set yourself long term goals and do small actions everyday towards them. The easiest way to reach goals is through daily and consistent small actions. Success is not an mindset. Small actions are putting you in the position of succeeding. Small actions make huge differences.
Now I would like to talk about "fellowship" one of the four values of our school. My understanding of fellowship is as follows - you have a special friend. A friend walks in when the rest of the world walks out. Sometimes in life, you find a special friend: someone who changes your life just by being part of it. Someone who makes you laugh until you can't stop ,someone who makes you believe that there really is good in the world. Someone who convinces you that there really is an unlocked door just waiting for you to open it. This is forever friendship.
I think that's the case with Y10. Two years ago, when we first came to Harrow, we were young and immature. We were not familiar with all the people around us. We did not dare to communicate with others. But after all of us ran into each other, soon we became the Y10 family. We showed a good spirit of fellowship in both learning and activities, and established a deep friendship with each other. Although many students will leave us to go to other schools or cities at the end of the term, I believe that the flame of our friendship will never be extinguished.
And if you find such friends you feel happy and complete. Because you need not worry, you have a “forever friend” for life and forever has no end. So find these people to support you on your journey.
Thank you!
