在过去三周里，ESL部门一直非常忙碌！

本学期，我们有两位优秀的老师加入了上海莱克顿学校的英语团队。胡老师目前正向10年级和11年级的学生们教授IGCSE英语作为第二语言的课程。而曹老师则是采用一对一或小班授课的方式支持学生。他们是英语教学团队的重要补充，更加有助于学生们在语言上的学习。

学校范围内的泛读计划也逐渐恢复、重新运行，学生每周至少要阅读一本新书。可以通过Fiction Express电子书平台完成，该平台拥有200多本不同难度的书籍。今年，学生们在阅读课程方面取得了非常好的开始，在今年的早期阶段，几乎每个人都读过三本书。大量研究表明，泛读对于把英语作为一门额外的语言来学习的学生是非常有效的方法。

我们进行了广泛的英语水平测试，并从学科教师那里得到了反馈，以确定哪些学生将需要最大程度地接受额外的支持，后续将在下周为学生们开设英语辅助课。在上海莱克顿，我们努力支持每一个学生的语言学习，使他们在与我们一起的时间里取得成功，并为未来做好充分准备。

It has been an extremely busy time for the ESL department over the last three weeks!

We have had two fantastic teachers join the team at Lucton School Shanghai. Enyi is teaching the IGCSE English as a Second Language course to year 10s and year 11s. Whereas Ivy is supporting students on a one on one basis or with small group classes. They are great additions to the ESL teaching staff and will be invaluable with regards to language acquisition at the school.

The school wide extensive reading programme is also back up and running with students required to read at least one new book per week. This is done through the Fiction Express e-book platform which has over 200 books at various levels of difficulty. The students have made a really good start to the year with regards to the reading programme and almost everyone has read three books even at this early stage of the year. A large amount of research has demonstrated that extensive reading is invaluable in acquiring English as an additional language.

We will also be starting our ESL support classes next week with students in different year groups receiving support based on their individual need. We have conducted extensive English language proficiency testing and received feedback from subject teachers to identify students who would benefit most from additional support. At Lucton Shanghai, we endeavour to support every student with language acquisition to enable them to be successful during their time with us and so that they are well prepared for the future.
